Thursday Open Thread | ARREST THE KILLERS of #JohnnyHernandez

WARNING: The video is graphic and very disturbing.

Johnny Hernandez was choked to death by the husband of Harris County Sheriff Deputy. Terry Thompson puts a chokehold on Johnny Hernandez killing him. He hasn’t been arrested. The Hernandez family deserves justice for their loved one. There would be no need for a Grand Jury if a Black or Muslim was caught on video choking someone to death, the person would’ve been in jail immediately. The deputy, Shauna Thompson, was right there as her husband was choking the life from Johnny Hernandez and did not stop it.  I see her as an accessory to murder.  LOCK THEM UP!

HOUSTON — A 24-year-old father reportedly beaten by the husband of a Texas sheriff’s deputy died after being taken off life support Wednesday night, the family lawyer confirmed Thursday.

Johnny Hernandez had been in the intensive care unit of a Houston hospital where he was declared brain dead.

Late Sunday night, Hernandez’s family stopped at a Denny’s restaurant in Crosby, Texas, in east Harris County. Hernandez was drunk after celebrating his beloved Chivas soccer team’s victory, his wife said. She insisted he have coffee.

Instead, surveillance cameras showed Hernandez walking outside with his wife trying to stop him. She said her husband urinated near their vehicle.

Hernandez’s wife is not being named as she was too afraid to show her face in an on-camera interview.

Another man, whose wife is a Harris County (Texas) Sheriff’s deputy, was outside Denny’s with his children and confronted Hernandez about his behavior. Video showed the two men scuffling.

People ran outside while Hernandez’s wife and 3-year-old daughter watched and screamed.

“She was crying and telling (the man beating Hernandez) stop and he didn’t even stop,” Hernandez’s wife said. “I told him please stop. Don’t do that to him. He’s drunk. He wasn’t in any position to fight. But, he didn’t have any compassion. He was really angry.”

Hernandez’s wife claims deputies took her cellphone then led her away for interviews. Three days later, her husband was still in intensive care before he was eventually taken off life support.

The report given to the family called the man who beat Hernandez the victim.

In a statement, a spokesman for the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said the matter is under investigation.

“…Nervous Conservatives are distancing themselves from Theresa May and her campaign as the prospect of a hung parliament looms over Britain.

Tories openly questioned her faltering strategy, predicted another election would be needed and failed to back her leadership.

It came after the general election exit poll indicated Ms May has squandered a parliamentary majority, shed seats and paved the way for a resurgent Labour under Jeremy Corbyn…”

    50/50 chance she steps down…

May be the shortest P.M stint in modern history..

Called the early elections looking to shore up her conservative majority, but instead lost 17 seats and is now short, and looking at a hung parliament…Labour performed much better than expected even under Corbyn…

They need to be put into jail immediately without bond. If the guy will pee on his head , I will understand, he will try to do something, but that guy use his own masculine organ, to do a pee, because he was drunk!!! The killer, must move away with his children, but because of his wife is a police, well WAS a police now, he tried to play the role of James Bond!! This country is full of white people, who their ancestors came from out, like others, then white people don’t own this land. Originally this land belongs to the native Indians, who most of them were killed by people coming from foreign places.

    • Hi, Manuel! That’s exactly why the guy did it…because his wife was a deputy. He wanted to play cowboy. Mofo killed a young man for nothing. I hate I watched the video. It’s so freaking disturbing. Terry Thompson need to be put in the general population. Karma will take care of the rest.

  6. The charging document claims Terry Thompson, 41, caused Hernandez’s death “by placing a strangulating hold on (Hernandez) and maintaining pressure while placing the weigh of the defendant’s body on (Hernandez).”

Bond was set for the Thompsons at $100,000 each.

Both could face five years to life in prison if convicted.

Kansas Republicans Finally Turn on Sam Brownback
    by Martin Longman
    June 7, 2017 4:30 PM

The news out of Kansas is highly amusing, as you can see in this report from the The Wichita Eagle:

Lawmakers rolled back Gov. Sam Brownback’s signature tax policy over his objections Tuesday night, forcing into law tax increases to fix a budget shortfall and provide more money for schools.

The legislation ends the “march to zero” income tax cuts that Brownback heralded for much of his time as governor…

…The Senate and House voted 27-13 and 88-31, respectively, to override Brownback’s veto…

…The override represents a blow to the legacy of one of the most unpopular governors in America, amid speculation that he may not serve out his remaining time in office but instead take a federal position.

Kansas is such a Republican state that even Brownback’s epic mismanagement hasn’t turned the state purple or blue, but he’s done his best. He’s made Republicans sound like Democrats. For example, look at this:

Top intel officials hide scandal info from congressional oversight
    06/08/17 08:40 AM
    By Steve Benen

The timing was fortuitous. We’d already seen reports that Donald Trump asked the Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats and Adm. Michael Rogers, the director of the National Security Agency, to publicly intervene in the pushback to the Russia scandal, and those reports were advanced yesterday morning with evidence that the president also encouraged Coats to intervene with the FBI – which is the crime that forced Richard Nixon’s resignation.

We were fortunate, then, that Coats and Rogers were scheduled to appear yesterday in front of the Senate Intelligence Committee, where they could answer oversight questions about this very issue.

At least, that is, in theory. As Rachel noted on last night’s show, Coats and Rogers refused to provide senators with the information sought by the committee. It led to a striking exchange between Sen. Angus King (I-Maine) and two of the nation’s top intelligence officials.

KING: Why are you not answering these questions? Is there an invocation by the president of the United States of executive privilege? Is there, or not?

ROGERS: Not that I’m aware of.

KING: Then why are you not answering?

ROGERS: Because I feel it is inappropriate, senator.

KING: What you feel isn’t relevant, admiral.
