    Not even six months into his term, for all intents and purposes, Donald Trump’s presidency is dead.

    Not dead in the sense that he will imminently be run out of office.
    Republicans have made it clear that there is literally nothing he could
    do, no matter how destructive, obscene or humiliating to the republic —
    that would make them remove him. But it is functionally dead, in the
    sense that the Trump presidency has any moral force at home or abroad (in fact, if you look at rare European Trump friend Teresa May’s situation in the UK,it’s quite the opposite), or that the president has the influence or the power to move his political agenda through a Congress that itself is imprisoned by his scandals. Remember “infrastructure week?”

    Whatever happens from here — whether Robert Mueller finds actual crimes or a criminal cover-up surrounding Russiagate — the man whose entire life has revolved around filling the gaping hole in his psyche with forced praise, vows of loyalty and boasts about “winning” will go down in history as a disastrous fluke, whose ascent to high office resulted from the machinations of a foreign power that manipulated American voters to avenge their hatred of a woman. History will remember him as the most disgraced and scandalized American president of the modern era,
    eclipsing Richard Nixon and making a damned near success of George W. Bush by comparison. Donald Trump is, by all accounts, an object of
    global ridicule; reviled around the world with the exception of the
    capitols of authoritarian regimes and of course, the Kremlin. His own
    sycophant party defends his misdeeds by declaring him to be almost
    childlike in his innocence and inability to understand the basics of
    governance, such that the former director of the FBI had an unprecedented duty to teach a 70-year-old real estate tycoon right from wrong.

    Trump’s most ardent defenders — his unpleasant sons, when they take time away from from grubbing off his office, his weird hireling Sebastian Gorka and his thuggish former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski — can only talk to his existing fans via Fox News and Breitbart. No one else will have them. His favorite daughter and ineffectual adviser Ivanka is down to securing cover stories in pop culture magazines explaining why she stands both with and against her dad — the better to sell shoes made in Chinese sweatshops to the trendy people who have turned their backs on her. His son-in-law, already talking about escaping back to New York, may be lucky to avoid indictment.However corrupt the men around him were during the campaign — Manafort and Flynn and Page and Sessions and the rest, Trump brought all of this on himself. He hired them. He eagerly benefited from and solicited Russia’s aid in tarring his presidential opponent, Hillary Clinton, even to the point of publicly encouraging Russian hacking. His Twitter attack on Jim Comey is what prompted Comey to release his notes from their bizarre meetings in hopes of triggering the appointment of a special prosecutor.

    His continued attacks on Comey, including his personal lawyer’s attempt to sic the Justice Department on the fired FBI director, on top of the firing itself, could hand that prosecutor evidence of obstruction of
    justice and abuse of power. We may yet get to witness the spectacle of a president pardoning his cronies, and then himself.

    casinos treat local laws. Ignore the laws, see if anyone stands up to
    you. Tie the town up in court, make it cost the opposition than they can
    afford. Use the press + threats. Keep breaking the law until the

    town.

    That hearing was surreal, because of the Republicans. There are two
    governments- the real government and the Trump Administration. The GOP Senators at the hearing were speaking on behalf of the real government.

    Later, they spouted some bullshit in defense of the Trump
    Administration.

    This is becoming a theme. The former President of Mexico is doing it, France is doing it, Canada is doing it. They are making a distinction between the United States and the Trump Administration. Wow.

    CNN commentator Van Jones ripped the Clinton campaign and the DNC during his speech at The People’s Summit in Chicago on Saturday for wasting money and failing to reach out to working-class and minority voters.

    “The Hillary Clinton campaign did not spend their money on white workers, and they did not spend it on people of color. They spent it on themselves,” Jones told a packed house at McCormick Place in Chicago. “They spent it on themselves, let’s be honest.”

    “Let’s be honest,” Jones continued. “They took a billion dollars, a billion dollars, a billion dollars, and set it on fire, and called it a campaign!”

    “A billion dollars for consultants. A billion dollars for pollsters. A billion dollars for a data operation, that was run by data dummies who couldn’t figure out that maybe people in Michigan needed to be organized.”

    He blamed the same forces in the Democratic Party behind the Clinton campaign’s defeat for continuing to divide the resistance to President Trump after the election.

    The progressive CNN commentator has said before that Clinton’s defeat signaled an end for that wing of the Democratic Party.

    “This idea that we’re going to be this moderate party that’s going to move in this direction, that’s going to throw blacks under the bus for criminal justice reform or for prison expansion, that’s going to throw workers under the bus for NAFTA, those days are over,” Jones said in January shortly before Trump’s inauguration.

    1. Hey, there, Americans who voted for Donald Trump for president. I just wanna offer a hearty “thanks” for putting Trump in office. I mean, I thought things would be crazy, but, seriously, I never expected Trump to exceed expectations so quickly. Are you having fun yet? Are you tired of winning? Man, I sure am. I can’t handle all this winning.

    That’s what it is, right? Trump’s wins? Having the former director of the FBI testify under oath that Trump is a debased, immoral lying liar who lies so much that you gotta be ready for more lies? That’s winning, no?

    Having an attorney general who perjured himself repeatedly? Winning so hard that it hurts! And bonus winning: Trump never asked Comey about Russian interference in American elections. That means Trump knew the answer already. Or he didn’t give a shit because it benefited him.

    Goddamn, I don’t see how you Trump voters can stand all this fucking winning.

    Southern Arizona Stands Against Proposed Border Wall

    Few places in the country interact with Mexico as much as Southern Arizona, and several of the region’s jurisdictions have taken a collective stand against President Donald Trump’s proposed border wall expansion along the nation’s southern border. Following the lead of the Tohono O’odham Legislative Council and the National Congress of American Indians, both the Pima County Board of Supervisors and the Tucson City Council approved a joint resolution standing in opposition to the border wall on Tuesday, June 6.

    Unanimously approved by the Tucson City Council and approved by a 3-2 vote by the county board (Republican Supervisors Ally Miller and Steve Christy were opposed), the resolutions state—among other things—that the proposed wall construction stands against the core values of “inclusiveness and tolerance” and will cause “substantial environmental damage” to the region.

    Both the county and the city have denounced Executive Order 13767, which aims to construct an expanded border wall, and the resolutions also calls for a “thorough and comprehensive analysis of the cost, effectiveness, necessity and consequences of a U.S. border-security policy and this Executive Order.”

    The city’s resolution takes it several steps further, calling for the billions of dollars potentially allocated to construction to be instead spent on health care, education, housing, infrastructure repair, alleviating poverty, increasing economic opportunity and “safeguarding the health and well-being of all Americans.” The council resolution also states that the current wall has caused “substantial” environmental damage, and is “and offensive and damaging symbol of fear and division.”

    Most controversially, and drawing immediate criticism from local chambers of commerce, was the city’s inclusion of a section which allows the council to identify companies involved in designing, building and financing border wall construction, and divest from each, as the law allows.
