    I am back from the store. I am following one of the YouTube vloggers that I follow. She is a Black vegan. In one of her “what I eat in a day” videos, she was raving about the mixture of kale and sweet potatoes. So, that’s going to be lunch for this week. Here’s too hoping.😄😄

    After last year’s highly successful debut, “Queen Sugar” returns to OWN with a two-night season premiere of the family drama on Tuesday and Wednesday at 10 p.m. The hour-long series will airs regularly at 10 p.m. Wednesdays.

    From Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Ava DuVernay and executive producer Oprah Winfrey, the contemporary drama, based on the book by Natalie Baszile, chronicles the lives and loves of the estranged Bordelon siblings in Saint Josephine, La. After a family tragedy, the Bordelons must navigate the triumphs and struggles of their complicated lives in order to run an ailing sugarcane farm.

    Is healthcare a right? Yes or no. Everything else is just details.

    If we all agree that healthcare is not a basic right of human existence, then we must acknowledge that healthcare is a privilege.

    And not everybody is privileged.

    That’s the whole definition of privilege. Some people have it, some don’t.
    If the answer is no, it’s not a right, then healthcare is a privilege and we are not obligated to guarantee every person will be able to get healthcare. The privileged get it. Those of lesser fortune don’t.  Simple as that. Oh sure, we might provide some charity, some help for the non-privileged, but we are by no means under any moral obligation to do so.  If we’ve got extra money, if we’re feeling generous, sure. What the hell. But otherwise, no.
    If you can afford it, you get it.

    If you can’t, you don’t.

    And you should at least be honest enough to admit that’s what you’re up to. I want to hear every politician, every candidate for office, go on the record, yes or no. And if it’s no, if you believe healthcare is a privilege of those who can afford it, then have the guts to look into the camera and say so. And if you’re voted out of office as a result, or stripped of your privilege by the mob, well, that’s just too goddamned bad.

    If healthcare isn’t a right, then it’s just another line item in the budget, next to bridges and warships and farm subsidies.

      Yes, it definitely is thought provoking…requiring honesty. No way should a person’s health status be dependent on privilege.

      A kind and compassionate community/country would push for the right of every individual to have health care. Our legislators have to declare just who they are and what is in their hearts. Health care should be a right.

    We having a Father’s Day celebration at my son-in-laws grandparents. I cooked last night. I’m warming up my broccoli and rice casserole. Jason’s grandmother is frying fish and Jason’s grandpa is BBQing a Brisket and chicken. LOL! I made Potato Salad, Broccoli & Rice, Pasta Salad. Jonne is making green beans and bringing drinks and watermelons. And who knows what else Jason’s grandma is cooking? I know she did cakes a couple of days ago…so there you go.
