    @JPL:

You know what I would like to come out of this? I would like
Republicans to have to vote for Medicaid because of the political
reality of their base, and I would like Republican voters to admit they
are dependent on Medicaid. We can stop fighting about it if they quit
lying about not needing it. They do need it. They’ve always needed it.

They have less money than liberal elites- they require more
government assistance. The price they have to pay is stop denying it and stop insisting they don’t get anything from the government. They do.

Democrats its officially time to place Bernie Sanders into the same category history places Perot and Nader. He’s a spoiler.

If you truly care about moving forward you will acknowledge that he has no chance of growing support and has shown signs of weakening base

Our base has been predominantly POC and primarily black women. Continuing to elevate Sanders will result in bleeding of that support.

We can stand to lose racist, we can stand to lose religious support, we won WWC voters as democrats but hell we could stand to lose that too

But what we as democrats, liberals, left wing, progressives, whatever you call yourselves, we CANNOT lose the support of black women.

When black women get fed up and give up on democrats we are all fucked. Granted history is rich with evidence of their extreme patience.

We are all on borrowed time. White people collectively, black men refusing to listen to their women’s pleas for respect and equality.

This effects hispanics too along with other minorities, when black women decide it’s no longer worth their energy our party will fall apart.

We can continue to debate the issues but that cannot happen unless people do so acknowledging the base and it’s concerns.
That includes coffee summits and unity tours…having these little photo ops do good for social media but nothing to address the base.

And believe that BW can see your BS from miles away. Do better white people. Remember, it takes us to fix us.

Im well aware that it’s PAST time for all of this to be realized but here we still are. @andersoncooper and @chrislhayes chasing bro ratings

Instead of giving Bernie endless opportunity to bash democrats how about asking folks like @KamalaHarris and @SenGillibrand to come on

You know ask actual DEMOCRATS about how democrats can move forward and the plans on how to do it. Crazy idea I know.

This is soooo true. As most here already know, I’m a retired high school teacher. During the 33 years I spent in the classroom, I ran into many white kids whose families couldn’t afford health insurance, were receiving state and federal assistance, and lived in poverty. These are the same persons who received health insurance under the PPACA/Obamacare for the first times in their lives, yet, they voted for Trump. They knew before voting for him, Ryan, McConnell and the other GOP healthcare-destroyers that they wanted to “rid” the nation of Obamacare. I’m sick of them. When Obamacare was passed, these weak-brained idiots believed all of the lies RW pols, pundits, radio entertainers, etc. uttered about the law. Millions of them signed up, and got, healthcare coverage under the law even though they said they hated it. If they’re upset to know today that they’ve been duped by GOPers, they deserve to lose it because they bought the lie that GOPers would replace Obamacare with a “better, more affordable plan.” Yeah riiight. It takes a dull tool to NOT know/realize that Obamacare is the REAL better, more affordable plan. They voted to have their healthcare taken away last November, and I have zero/little sympathy for them at the present time. There should come a point in everyone’s life where they realize that politics is not a game. They cheered Trump, they voted for him, he told them he already had a “better, more affordable healthcare plan” to replace Obamacare, they bought it, and now Trump and the GOPers in Congress are getting ready to stab them in the middle of their backs with the largest and sharpest knife in the kitchen drawer.

Folks. Lifeguards are not babysitters. As parents, we have a responsibility to watch our kids at pools. We know our kids better than anyone.

This tweet is so on point, SG2.

You all know that I’m a swimmer. I believe in swimming. It’s a life skill.

I don’t think enough Black people respect the water, and what can happen. Too many times I see groups of Black children in the water, and the adults are like, ‘ you better not do anything cause I don’t know how to swim.’

    EXCUSE ME?

How are you going to let a child into the water, and YOU don’t know how to save them, if necessary.

While there are extraordinary circumstances in all situations, I honestly believe that 80-85% of drownings are preventable.

    Respect the water, please.

NPR’s Audie Cornish talks with T.J. Bray, a steelworker at the Carrier plant in Indianapolis where President Trump said he saved over 1,000 jobs. Last month, Carrier told the state that 600 people will be laid off, and those jobs will be transferred to Mexico.

Is it just me or was last week like being in hell?

The anger is escalating, to be sure, but I don’t know where it takes us.

This is the most corrupt “presidency” and Congress of my lifetime. And everyone else’s, I suppose, who is alive today.

    • rikyrah says:

so much evil on display, Liza. There are 76 million people on Medicaid. The likelihood that you PERSONALLY KNOW someone on Medicaid is HIGH.

      YOU are not a sociopath.
So, of course, you’re in pain at the thought of this person being hurt..

just so muthaphuckas who already have more money than God, get even more money.

    • Ametia says:

The GOP are CRAFTY at channeling their anger, always have been. They thrive on anger, theirs, but mainly their base. And will break every rule, with no regard for ethics, morals, but mainly human life. They will burn down the house to get and maintain their ideology, their way of life and without COMPROMISE. They ROLL in LOCKSTEP.

Rigging election, voter suppression, supporting treasonous acts against our democracy sowing seeds of chaos, confusion and doubt to persuade voter apathy. RACE-BAITING, DOG WHISTLING, For what? for that all might power and greed.

Dems, they will hold out their beliefs in what is moral, ethical, and just. They will dangle it like a carrot to appeal to those who are moral, ethical and believe in fairness and justice. PBO showed the party how to win and govern, but they didn’t LEARN. Voters didn’t learn either. Folks don’t want to do what i required to make changes, because it starts with them.

You get a hodge podge of folks in between. Those straddlers are for social justice, but only to the degree that it affects them and but don’t dare touch their $$$$$$$ or weed!!!!!!!

Between the pols and supporters, some want absolute PURITY, and no compromise. And then you have the DINOs who walk that thinnest of lines to cater to white voters in their districts yet believe in the GOP’s ideology. Every one is looking to serve their own interest, instead of the greater good.

We have to channel that anger-energy to fight for our GOVERNMENT, for it is not the government that I BAD, It I the folks who are voted in who have no ETHICS or MORAL COMPASS

      RANT OVER

      Good Morning, Rikyrah and Everyone!

Love the song, Ametia. Good reminder to let my little light shine and to keep on advocating for social justice.

Rev. Al Sharpton gave a great pep talk this morning. I transcribed it:

      https://twitter.com/TheRevAl/status/878966797348765696

“…Joe Lowery, Martin Luther King, and Wyatt T. Walker could keep fighting when their homes were bombed; keep fighting when, for nine years between the one government bus boycott, before they finally got a Civil Rights Act, nine years where different people were questioning them, and they were attacked by the Right and attacked even in their community. There was always a difference of opinion. Rev. Martin, then there was a Malcolm, and then there was the young members of SNCC disagreed. But, then you had Julian Bond and Jesse Jackson that did agree.

“There was always tension, always friction, yet they kept going. You are not judged by your victories. You are judged by if you keep fighting in the face of defeat; if you keep fighting in the face of criticism; if you keep even when those on your side turn on you. That’s when we see who are the real activists, real patriots, the real ( ?) in reform is.

“Yes, it’s been a tough week for those of us that believe in reform. That means only the tough will get off the mat and keep fighting. The rest will lay on the mat and start the blame game and start making excuses.”
      ~Rev. Al Sharpton
