How the Trump administration is undermining students of color

…Among other things, the suit alleges that the Trump administration illegally slow-walked a rule designed to provide an easy path to loan forgiveness for student borrowers who have been defrauded or deceived by predatory colleges and universities.

The coalition of state Attorneys General argue that this delay in implementation of this Borrower Defense to Repayment rule, places students and borrowers once again at the whims of colleges, especially for-profit colleges, that have used predatory tactics to enroll students and load them up with debt, while too often delivering very little value to show for their degrees.

…Besides delaying loan relief, the Trump administration and congressional Republicans have proposed deep cuts to programs that help students navigate an increasingly costly higher education system, and cut enforcement for civil rights and other basic consumer protections for students and borrowers.

Raleigh, N.C. — Former U.S. attorney general Eric Holder was in town Saturday for the North Carolina Democratic Party’s annual fundraising dinner.

He’s heading up a national effort to win state house races ahead of the 2020 U.S. census, which precedes the once-a-decade redrawing of legislative and congressional maps. With the rise of software that can target voters by their partisan tendencies, this process is a big key to political power in the United States.

“This is the first time the Democratic Party has come together this early in anticipation of the census and the lines drawn after,” Holder said. “You can’t wait until 2020 to focus on this.”

Holder sat down with WRAL News after his speech Saturday night, and what follows is an edited transcript of that conversation.

Yes, of course, John McCain deserves the best healthcare money can buy. Yet, he is willing to vote take away healthcare from tens of millions of Americans. So the vote must be delayed until John is able to return to Washington.

Is it just me or is this f***ed up beyond all comprehension?
