I know that I keep on posting articles about this topic, but I think people need to understand what is going on with ICE in this country.
And, because of what’s going on with ICE, I don’t want to hear anything positive, or how we should feel for Kelly – because he is the one who was in charge of Homeland Security, and these wretched, evil folks.

Maria Mendoza-Sanchez spent her last day in the United States before deportation tending to matters both routine and strange.

She drove her 16-year-old daughter, Elizabeth, to the first day of her sophomore year in high school. She packed. She ate meals with loved ones. And she signed paperwork granting power of attorney over her family’s affairs to the other two daughters she planned to leave behind, 23-year-old Vianney and 21-year-old Melin.

At 8 p.m. Wednesday, the family — the mom, husband and son who were leaving, and the daughters who were staying — gathered for a last photo together in their Oakland home. Then they formed a circle in the living room, along with three of Mendoza-Sanchez’s nursing colleagues at Highland Hospital, to hold hands and pray.

“Lord God right now I lift this family up to you!” proclaimed one of the nurses. “Lord God put your hand of protection on these girls!”

When the circle broke, Maria gathered her daughters into her arms, and said, firmly, “You promise you be strong. You behave yourselves. You do the right thing. We will be together again! I promise you.”

Her husband stood a few feet away, wiping tears from his eyes, shaking his head at the scene as Vianney repeated, over and over, “It’ll be OK, it’ll be OK.”

Hours later, Mendoza-Sanchez and her husband, Eusebio Sanchez, caught a red-eye flight from San Francisco International Airport to their native Mexico, after federal immigration officials denied efforts by them and Sen. Dianne Feinstein to delay their deportation.

They brought along their 12-year-old son, Jesus, while leaving behind their three older daughters, who will take care of one another.

The circumstances of the case, which offer a window into the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown, fueled outrage from Feinstein, other local politicians and leaders at Highland Hospital. The couple lived in the U.S. for more than two decades, raised children who each have legal status, own their home in Oakland, do not have criminal records, and were granted earlier delays of deportation.

The family had pushed back the flight one day in hopes of winning a late reprieve from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, known as ICE. But the agency on Tuesday turned down their request for a stay of deportation.

An agency spokeswoman defended the deportation action last week, saying the family’s case had gone through a lengthy review in immigration courts and “neither of these individuals has a legal basis to remain in the U.S.”

When they came up with their immigration push…it was sold under the bullshyt banner of..

The United States was being overrun by illegal immigrant criminals.

I knew that was bullshyt. And, I have been proven right.
ICE is nothing more than a RACIST domestic terror organization.

I see these stories coming across the feeds of blogs that I follow. Almost every day now.
And, the story is the same….
People who have been in this country for decades. Who work. Who have families. Who have been productive members of this society.
And, they have something else in common-they are NON-WHITE.
I’ve said it before: I live in a city with a LARGE illegal Irish, and a LARGE illegal Eastern European population.
But, somehow, I never seem to be reading these kinds of stories with illegal IRISH /EASTERN EUROPEANS.

You have ICE staking out houses of worship, and other places where they know people congregate..
Yet, they don’t seem to know where ILLEGAL IRISH /EASTERN EUROPEANS worship, live and congregate?

PHUCK.OUTTA.HERE.

You and I read stories like this and see barbarism.
Dolt45’s voters read this and cheer.
I have nothing in common with those people and stop telling me that I have to ‘understand’ them.

    Dear Trumpgretters:

    We appear to be entering a new fad in media attention in the wake of Donald Trump’s racist response to the white supremacist violence in Charlottesville: prominent Trump voters who are now publicly expressing their regret in voting for Donald Trump. That is, you. You are our media’s new shiny object. Congratulations.

    However, “I take it back” simply doesn’t cut it when your offense is not merely an error but a sin. Allow me to remind you what you have put our country through for the pleasure of your vicious, bloody experiment.

    You decided that for the position of President of the United States, you would pick a man who bombed his way into the political scene by challenging the legitimacy – indeed the very citizenship – of this country’s first black president. The fact that he aided and abetted the racist conspiracy theory of birtherism did not phase you. The very reason Donald Trump could become a political figure was his – and your party’s – willingness to support and feed the overt racists in America, and that did not give you a pause.

    You used your vote to elevate to power a man who blatantly stated that an American judge could not be objective because of his Mexican heritage. You did not recoil in horror when your candidate called immigrants rapists, thugs and drug dealers. You either thought it was a dandy idea, or you believed his hateful agenda could be tolerated in exchange for whatever “constructive” policy agenda you were hoping he’d deliver on.

    You accepted as your preferred choice for President a man who pretended not to know who David Duke even was in order to pander to his racist, Nazi base, before meekly rebuking Duke’s support. By then, you know as well as anyone, Trump’s dog whistle to white supremacists had become a siren.

    You offered your vote – your most sacred bond of support – to a man who invoked the imagery rape to describe trade deficits with Asian and Latin American countries. Let’s not pretend you couldn’t read the clear subtext: the white cultural fear non-white men as violent rapists who rape white women.

    You made certain that your vote was counted for a man who repeatedly delegitimized your fellow Americans in highly diverse states and cities with accusations of illegal voting. Once again, the subtext was not lost on anyone but the most intellectually corrupt: if people of color vote, that’s illegal.

    On the Monday before Charlottesville erupted into chaos, my mother and aunt came to visit. As usual, my mom and I had small disagreements about her support for Trump, but I noticed something different about our discussions this time: She was advocating for him. It wasn’t about hating Clinton; she actually liked Trump and what he had to say.

    “He tells it like it is,” she said, echoing a common refrain from Trump supporters. On that day, I explained to my mother, in very plain language, why I felt he was dangerous, why Black Lives Matter existed (after she asked my opinion on BLM) and why I viewed the police, as an institution, as problematic. This happened while we were on the way to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum.

    At home, we watched the news, and there was a news story about an inflatable chicken that had flown near the White House. My mother felt that was supremely disrespectful to Trump and voiced her opinion to me. I let her know, in no uncertain terms, that I didn’t care about him being disrespected because he’d disrespected me, my community, and any other possible community he could think of in both word, deed and attempted policy. My mother became upset with me and loudly expressed that he was worthy of my respect as a human being and that he was the most disrespected president ever.

    I shot back with facts about the times he’d disrespected various communities, with quotes, and pointed out just how badly President Barack Obama was treated by publications and regular Joes while he was in office.

    But this is when our relationship hit the point from which I realized we’d never fully recover. When we were getting in the car to head to Rockville, Md., she asked why I found the T-shirt offensive. I told her that by her wearing that shirt, it showed that she didn’t care about my life or those of her grandchildren or daughter; after we argued, she refused to speak to me for hours, again.

    She wanted me to take her home. I offered to take her to the airport.

    She was leaving the next day, Saturday, which, as we all know now, is the day white supremacists staged their rally in Charlottesville. Amid discussion—she agreed that the white supremacists were appalling and that the police had done a horrible job—she still managed to find a way to support Trump by complaining that people were waiting for him to say something and then complained that he didn’t say enough; her point was that, basically, he couldn’t catch a break.

    I can’t sit and actively engage with a person—even if it is my mother, whose blood is running through my body—if she doesn’t care about me, my story or what I live through. If she can’t see past her own appreciation for a bigoted, dangerous man, who, because of the position people like her have placed him in, has the ability to do significant damage to my civil liberties, then I don’t know what place she can have, reasonably, in my life. It’s sad. It’s disappointing. It’s my mother.

    Blood is not thicker than freedom and it’s not thicker than safety. Sometimes blood is just that, blood. I know my mother loves me; I’m her son. But, honestly, I don’t think my mother cares about what that really means.

    Privilege is real. White privilege is real. It turns out, it can even trump blood. That reality is harsh. But it’s real.

    Welcome to my reality.

    I’m going to keep this short, because it’s Friday evening and I have shit to do.*

    I generally like Tina Fey. She is one of my favorite people in comedy. And I did laugh at her sheet-cake bit. Even if the premise was all fucked up—more on that in a minute—the actual jokes (aside for the terrible, awful Thomas Jefferson joke) worked. And watching people eat cake like a hangry grizzly bear is always funny.

    Much has been written already about how Fey’s bit was ensconced in white privilege, including this deconstruction from Splinter’s Isha Aran:

    I’m sure Fey’s heart’s in the right place, but it just goes to prove once again that even liberals can fall into the trap of assigning the violence that white supremacists cause to the people trying to stand against it—the flip side of the very same rhetoric Donald Trump was spouting earlier this week.

    Ignoring Nazis isn’t taking the high road. Protesting and facing potential danger is taking the high road. Obviously, we cannot afford to sit at home. While I wholeheartedly believe “sheetcaking” is a great coping mechanism that can cure many a broken heart, and supporting Jewish and black-owned businesses is a great thing, the last time we let Nazis scream into the empty air, it ended up in a fucking genocide.

      I have a friend here in Tucson who was a preemie nurse for over 30 years. I think that people who do that work are special people, my friend is so kind and compassionate (and highly skilled). I’m sure that your grand baby is in good hands.

    Daughter had a reaction to one of the medications. It made her so sick, baby stopped moving for awhile so they took her off that medication and now he’s back moving again. She’s tired, didn’t sleep well but feeling better than she was last night.

        Peanut got to see her Grandmother yesterday. My sister said that she was full of questions. Then, she came by my house and started asking me questions. I think she was trying to figure out if her grandmother was hiding something from her. My sister is the most strict of all her grandparents, but Peanut adores her. I told her that she might be called in to help her Grandma when she left the hospital,but she was fine with that.
