White supremacists continue to target badly beaten DeAndre Harris
    BY CHARLES MODIANO LARRY MCSHANE
NEW YORK DAILY NEWS Friday, August 18, 2017, 1:05 PM

The Deandre Harris who left his Charlottesville home last weekend to protest racism is gone — and his mom wonders if the upbeat young man she raised will ever return.

While the 20-year-old Harris survived a beating by white supremacists, his mother now looks at Deandre and sees someone different: Less trusting. More fearful. Very paranoid.

“They took something away from him that he is never going to get back,” mom Felicia Harris told the Daily News. “And that’s to feel comfortable wherever he goes.

“Deandre never had any fear about ever going anywhere or walking around. That personality that he has? Everybody loves Deandre … But now it’s like he’s so bottled up to where he does not want to speak or talk to people.”

The attacks still continue on social media, as Deandre’s phone fills with threats and messages of hate while he recovers from injuries that included a gash on his head, a broken wrist and a chipped tooth.

Adding to his fears: Seven days after the beating, all of his attackers remain on on the loose. Charlottesville police, despite clear video of the beating, have yet to make a single arrest.

Getting rid of White Supremacy will make America great.

    • Liza says:

The white supremacists who showed up in Boston were outnumbered 400 to 1.

I hope that says something about where we are as a nation.

      • yahtzeebutterfly says:

We need those who outnumber the White Supremacists to do all they can to end systemic and institutional racism that is horribly embedded in our country. It will be a major task to accomplish.

There needs to be a special law enforcement agency/department created to go after the domestic terrorism, violence and intimidation of the White Supremacists.

  4. Look, y’all. Karson doesn’t like what the nurse is doing. Listen to him cry.
    Awe ❤️❤️❤️

That’s Josh asking the nurse questions….

    • Liza says:

Karson is just too precious. And he’s really looking good, SG2. I hope your daughter is feeling much better.

Thanks for the update on Karson, it’s good to see him. Tell him that lots of folks are thinking about him.

    • yahtzeebutterfly says:

Karson is a dear. So adorable!

    • rikyrah says:

      So tiny. So adorable 😍😍😍

    • Ametia says:

Awe, Karson’s getting all that sweet love and care.
Uncle Josh, you’re on the scene, dude.
And the nurse’s voice is so comforting.

    • majiir says:

The best part of the video for me was hearing the nurse say “98 degrees,” because it says to me that Karson is doing juuust fine, which is exactly what we want to hear.

      • Thank you, Majiir. He’s breathing on his own and will be moved to level 2 tomorrow. Yay!

My daughter and Jason face-timed me while they were in NICU and I said Hi Karson and he was trying, trying to open his eyes and finally opened them big for a few seconds. He heard that voice. What a blessing. God is so good. Thank you, Lord.

I went to see STEP: the movie last night.
It was a beautiful movie. Loved it. The story of the power of STEP through three young women, and the battles they face…
how the school fought for them.

The White Supremacists are really pushing to incite all over the country. This is so awful and wrong!

    • Liza says:

      It just makes me sad.

    • majiir says:

They went there looking for trouble, but they were disappointed in the end. They went, they saw, they talked, and no one “jumped” them. They could have left there bloody and in ambulances. That they didn’t shows that the persons they encountered didn’t let their presence or words spur them to violence, which is what I think these girls expected. I;m declaring this a win for Howard U. students. Rand Paul took his *ss to Howard U. a few years ago to present a history lesson to the students, but he ended up receiving a history lesson from HU students. A very strange thing [not really, I’m being sarcastic] is that he hasn’t returned there for another “minority outreach,” and I doubt these girls will either. Their *sses got OWNED.

LA Times editorial: Enough is Enough
    AUG. 20, 2017

    These are not normal times.

The man in the White House is reckless and unmanageable, a danger to the Constitution, a threat to our democratic institutions.

Last week some of his worst qualities were on display: his moral vacuity and his disregard for the truth, as well as his stubborn resistance to sensible advice. As ever, he lashed out at imaginary enemies and scapegoated others for his own failings. Most important, his reluctance to offer a simple and decisive condemnation of racism and Nazism astounded and appalled observers around the world.

With such a glaring failure of moral leadership at the top, it is desperately important that others stand up and speak out to defend American principles and values. This is no time for neutrality, equivocation or silence. Leaders across America — and especially those in the president’s own party — must summon their reserves of political courage to challenge President Trump publicly, loudly and unambiguously.

    Enough is enough.

Prayers and positive thoughts for SG2’S daughter and grandson. May her daughter heal. May her grandson get stronger every day.👶🙏🏥🚼😇😄

    • yahtzeebutterfly says:

      Amen.

    • Liza says:

      Amen.

    • Thank you so much, Rikyrah. My prayers are with your sister as well. I pray she has a speedy recovery. Thank God for his Amazing Grace.

    • Here’s another pic of our little sweetie….with his tiny self

      • yahtzeebutterfly says:

        So precious.

I can see they are taking GOOD care of him!

      • majiir says:

With God’s blessing, he will pull through. In this pic you’re sharing, he looks just like my daughter looked after she was born. She went on to graduate from high school and college with honors. Karson and your daughter will be fine because we’re still praying for them and your other family members, and I’m still praying for rikyrah’s sister, her, and her family. If there’s one thing I know for sure, it’s that God answers prayers. Some doctors had said my daughter would have symptoms of cerebral palsy and intellectual deficits. She has none of those. I remember my mom telling me after she was born and had been sent to the neonatal ICU unit and I was in deep despair, “Doctor’s don’t know everything. God’s got this,” and she was right.
