Trump says he spoke to US Virgin Islands ‘president’? So ignorant! Can it be anymore clear this moron is UNFIT for office? He’s an embarrassment to America. White people who voted for him OWNS this. What have you done unleashing this ignorant thug on America to destroy all what is good? What have you done to this country?

Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump accidentally referred to the US Virgin Islands’ governor as their President during a speech Friday — even though he is technically their President.

“I will tell you I left Texas and I left Florida and I left Louisiana and I went to Puerto Rico and I met with the President of the Virgin Islands,” he told the audience of the Values Voter Summit in Washington.

“We are one nation and we all hurt together, we hope together and we heal together,” he said, later adding, “The Virgin Islands and the President of the Virgin Islands, these are people that are incredible people, they suffered gravely and we’re be there, we’re going to be there, we have really, it is not even a question of a choice.”

Trump appeared to be referring to Virgin Islands Gov. Kenneth Mapp, instead of the “President” who is Trump himself. The Virgin Islands is a US territory.

The White House did not immediately respond to CNN’s request for comment. But in the official White House transcript after the speech, his reference to Mapp as President was corrected to “governor.”

He was referring to how the US Virgin Islands was hit first by Hurricane Irma, then Hurricane Maria, which ravaged the island.

    Tulane offers tuition-free semester to displaced students from Puerto Rico

    Tulane University is offering a tuition-free semester at its New Orleans, La.,campus to college students in Puerto Rico who were displaced by Hurricane Maria.

    “Today, we’re making good on our offer of help by offering a
    tuition-free guest semester program for students from universities and colleges in Puerto Rico,” the university said in a post on its
    admissions department blog. “After Katrina, universities and colleges around the world took in our students with open arms; it’s now our turn to pay it forward and assist students in need.”

    The post instructs Puerto Rican students to fill out an application
    for the semester on its website and pay spring tuition to their home
    university. The university also said it will provide dedicated advisers
    and support staff for displaced students.

    “It is our hope to be able to provide a temporary home to a group of
    students who have dealt with the challenges of Hurricane Maria and her aftermath,” the university said. “The city of New Orleans and Tulane hope to welcome you this spring to help you get your education back on track.”

    “New Orleans may not be your home, but we’ll do our best to make your temporary shelter from the storm.”

    Puerto Rico was devastated by hurricanes last month, leaving millions of people without power and clean drinking water.

    Gwendolyn Patton was born on this day, October 14, in 1943.

    “Dr. Gwen Patton: A Long Time Movement Activist

    “A relatively small woman with a gentle demeanor and a sledge hammer of a mind, Dr. Gwendolyn M. Patton was born in a small town outside Detroit, Michigan in the Christian community of Inkster. At age 9, Gwendolyn engaged in her first act of resistance to racism. She went to Liggett’s drug store in Montgomery, Alabama where she spent summers with her grandparents and other relatives. Once she paid her 3 cents for a cup of water, she took a seat on the counter stool. The soda fountain clerk called her a “pickaninny” and told her to get up. While staring at the clerk, Gwen poured the cup of water on the counter and slowly walked out.

    “After the passing of her mother, Gwen at the age of 16 moved to Montgomery to live with her grandmother. Upon her arrival, she immediately became a leader in the in the Montgomery Improvement Association. Before long she was teaching in the “citizenship schools,” a tutoring program to help prospective voters learn how to fill out the literacy test, the prerequisite barrier before Black people could become registered voters. Citizenship Schools were held in both of her grandparents’ homes, one on the West-side and the other on the East-side. Gwen convinced her maternal grandmother to use the second home as a “Freedom House” for such Southern Christian Leadership Conference organizers as Rev. James Orange and Rev. James Bevel. She was a youth founding member of the (Black) Alabama Democratic Conference in 1960, an organization dedicated to getting Black people registered as voters. She also became a youth organizer in the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) and SCLC.

    We went to Jay’s game today. They lost 😢 but Jay worked hard.

    8 tackles including 3 critical tackles
    2 saving a touchdown (dove for 1 one of em) and a 10 yard tackle for a loss on a 2 point conversion.

    All in a days work….

      In a post highlighting Amber Tamblyn, they link to an article where Maxine’s at least listed as a speaker, after 5 others. So, progress. 12/

      Other than linking to a couple of articles, nowhere on their TL did they announce Maxine as a speaker, never mind THE headliner. 13/

      There’s no speaker’s schedule on the convention’s website either. The ONLY slot they’ve publicly announced is Sanders. The only one. 14/

      Even after all the backlash, their pinned tweet doesn’t NAME a single person. And “morning” is NOT for headliners. 15/

      Now they want to blame MSM. For not giving attention to an alleged “announcement” that Women’s March NEVER MADE. 16/

    Trump thinks these executive actions will somehow make him look good or hurt programs like the ACA, but the only thing it will do is fail in the courts and make the Trump administration look like the joke it already is. And the media needs to stop with talk of the “Obama legacy”.

    Like Jonathan Chait stated months ago many of Obama’s accomplishments are already in the history books or codified into law making it near impossible to repeal. Things like the equal pay law, the Card act (credit card bill of rights for consumers), the expansion of the SCHIP program, new Post 9/11 GI bill, education and student loan reforms, Historic hate crimes law (Matthew Shepard- James Byrd Act) , historic public lands management protection law , New Start Treaty, Dodd-Frank and the CFBP, ACA, historic FDA reforms (food safety and drugs), Tobacco products regulations and consumer protections, DADT repeal, and the list goes on an on. All of those things will be around for a very long time.

    The only thing Trump has done is issue weak executive actions that can easily be undone once he is gone. He hasn’t signed one major or modest piece of legislation and 2017 is almost over. Just because Trump opposes Obama’s legacy doesn’t mean he can end it. Pres. Andrew Johnson opposed a number of things Lincoln did including ending the system of slavery and moving towards civil rights, but no one says that Lincoln’s legacy was diminished. I guess this is only reserved for the black man because like Trump many in the media have an unhealthy obsession with Obama.

      Philando Castile’s murder is one of the hardest to think about among the many horrible murders perpetrated by police and white supremacists.

      Everything that is known about this man is just good. He was apparently one of those rare people, just genuinely good and kind and compassionate toward everyone. He spent his entire adult life, what he had of it, doing good for others. Absolutely nothing else.

      Well, I’m sure he would be happy that this was accomplished in his name.

      RIP, Philando. You deserved so much better.
