    “Bernard Powell…became interested in civil rights work at a young age joining the NAACP at age 13 and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in the March to Selma, Alabama. In the mid-1960s, he became regional director of the Congress of Racial Equality.

    “In October of 1968, Powell and others formed the Social Action Committee of 20 (SAC-20). SAC-20’s early efforts were aimed at teaching leadership and job training skills to Black youth. During this time, Powell began wearing his trademark SAC-20 black beret bearing a five-pointed star, which quickly branded him, in the eyes of some, as a militant.

    “Powell received many honors, including “Outstanding Man of the Year” by the National Junior Chamber of Commerce and the National Jefferson Award for public service. He was appointed to several state committees, including the Governor’s Advisory Council on Comprehensive Health Planning for Missouri and the Human Resources Corporation. He also participated in the Urban League of Kansas City, the Missouri Head Start Council, the Model Cities board of directors, and the National Conference of Lawyers. Powell aspired to become Missouri’s first Black governor.”

    The Lady is very, very talented, and has faced some really tough stuff …but she seems to have taken it all in stride…Going about her life like she’s not had to face all she’s faced…A tough cookie…God bless her..

    Really looking forward to seeing her artistic interpretation of my very own phenomenal FLOTUS44..

    Thanks again for sharing Ametia…I’ll spend some time tonight watching the videos you’ve included and generally perusing everything else..

      “But as we see over this last year, the last four years, not only has the Civil Rights Movement for minority America not ended, but now the resurgence of White people trying to push back against minorities trying to get some kind of equal foothold in this country. That’s what this is — a pushback against minorities to gain an equal foothold…”

        I think they must have sent out some sort of call to arms re: Mueller, to the Alt-Right community around the country..

        Looks like some sort of coordinated show up for the buffoon effort…to scare off Mueller…LOL..

        Driving home from the airport earlier, there on the side of the road “Mueller-Russia is fake news”…”Stop the witch-hunt; support Trump”..

        We were like WTF..?

        We know there are undercover Alt-Right folks around…but they stay undercover in our city..

        Unless these were out of towners like we had during the Prop 8 saga…Lots of Utah/Mormon folk came in droves and dispersed all around California…And every day until Election Day, they spread around planting themselves on street corners, armed with their anti prop 8 signs…

        Today it was a threesome…a defiant, red-faced, old white guy, a late-middle aged white Lady and a young South East Asian looking young guy in his 30s who looked more like he was being held hostage or hired to help – or perhaps owed the couple some sort of debt – house guest perhaps…But he looked pained and embarrassed…(I gave them a thumbs down as we waited for the traffic light to change…and he gave me a sheepish….grin …and I made the ward off evil …index fingers crossed sign, and shook my head, and he put down his sign and practically looked like he was begging to be rescued …Meanwhile the old guy was busy actually trying to set up a table…but someone had called the cops…and as we were driving off the cops were arriving…(my city’s police are so idle they sit around waiting to stop drivers doing 25.5mph in a 25mph zone…And arrive in 2 seconds flat in response to stuff like seeing a neighbor walking their dog and smoking a cigarette —and concerned that the smoke might slightly waft into ones home..

        My sorta progressive community that mostly split their vote between Bernie and Hillary in the primaries…but went 81% for Hillary ..buffoon 12%, other 3rd party candidates 7% in the general…was having none of it…

        Just got back from picking up groceries and it was so funny…they were gone of course…but everyone was still talking about it…furious that they had the nerve to show up – in broad daylight no less…with their support the buffoon-fake news rubbish..

        Surprised the cops shut them down and cleared them out so quickly…I think some may be part of the 12% and perhaps still rather sympathetic to their White Supremacy cause..but these days, who knows any more…hard to tell who is who and what is what..

        My town is that town where each year ‘controversies swell’ around the 4th of July parade …and the city weekly paper delves into the juicy details about who was offended by what float…and City council and mayoral candidacies are borne just from the fury and indignation…and the 4th of July controversies power candidacies and become the basis for most of those running ,..to unseat whoever authorized a particular float some found offensive…

        Crazy, topsy-turvy world we live in now…
