    The Latest: Puerto Rico to scrap Whitefish contract
    By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico — Oct 29, 2017, 4:03 PM ET

    The head of Puerto Rico’s government power company says the agency will scrap a $300 million contract with Whitefish Energy Holdings once it finishes current work on Hurricane Maria recovery efforts.

    Power company director Ricardo Ramos said Sunday that he’s bowing to a demand by the U.S. territory’s governor, Ricardo Rossello.

    Ramos says the cancellation will delay work by 10 to 12 weeks.

    The contract for the small Montana company has come under intense scrutiny, and audits of the Whitefish contract at a local and federal level are under way.

    Roughly 70 percent of the island remains without power more than a month after Hurricane Maria struck the U.S. territory on Sept. 20.

      I am so glad that Halperin’s ugliness is being exposed for the world to see. He used his power in the media to call #44 a ”dick” without reason, and now he’s being seen as the real DICK that he is. I hope his career never recovers from this injury.

    Puerto Rico governor calls for cancellation of $300 million contract with small Montana firm to repair power lines

    Puerto Rico Gov. Ricardo Rossello said that the contract with Whitefish Energy was a distraction after critics in the electric power industry, Congress and the Federal Emergency Management Agency raised questions. The power authority, also known as PREPA, opted to hire Whitefish rather than activate the “mutual aid” arrangements it has with other utilities.
