March 17, 2016: The Manafort daughters claim Trump asked their father to run his campaign.

Jessica Manafort: Guess who called Dad last night and asked him to run his convention.

Andrea Manafort Shand: Mom told me he was going to call dad. She told me to get ready for Trump to be president and pick the position in the White House I want.

JM: Dad gave him his list of requirements and so long as he can fulfill the list, Dad accepted.

March 29: Even before he was announced as campaign chairman, her father’s role was much larger than the public knew, Manafort Shand claims.

Friend: I’m not paying enough attention to really form an opinion. But yea I think economy makes sense, just hate what an asshole [Trump] is in the process.

AMS: Well hopefully my dad will help scale that back. That’s part of the reason he was brought on. He is refusing payment. Bc he doesn’t want to be viewed as Trump’s employee. Only having his expenses covered. He is involved purely because he wants to help the country and he thinks trump is best, so long as trump gets trained a bit. PS this is all top secret, so please do not repeat.

AMS: Dude he is second in command. Perhaps arguably running it. The campaign manager is all for show. [Corey Lewandowski] doesn’t do shit. Trump has been managing his own campaign

April 7: Manafort Shand paints her father as a master manipulator who is a close ally of Trump’s.

[After sending her friend a CNN article hinting at Manafort’s expanded role within the campaign.]

WATCH: Chuck Grassley scrambles through American flags to evade reporters asking about Mueller probe
    Elizabeth Preza

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), who sits on the Senate Judiciary Committee currently investigating Russian influence during the 2016 presidential election, abruptly fled a press conference after questions turned to Monday’s indictments of two former Donald Trump campaign associates—and knocked into multiple American flags in the process.

Republican senators held a press conference to address Trump’s judiciary nominees. As reporters began questioning the senators on special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation, Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn (R-TX) repeatedly refused to answer questions.

Oh, for Pete’s sake. Now that ain’t what they’re talking about in the WH today and everyone knows it. Trump’s re-election in 2020 has about the same probability as a snowstorm in hell.

What a day this has been, and barely nine months into the so called presidency of Donald Trump.

Good Lord, a year ago we (or most of us) believed Hillary Clinton would win the election.

This is exhausting. But I’m really looking forward to Rachel Maddow’s show tonight.

    The white hat

We were all hoping for a bombshell, although we were steeled to settle for a slow building of the cases.

What Robert S. Mueller III did today was nothing short of detonating a tactical nuclear device over the Trump regime.

The indictments of Paul Manafort and Richard Gates were the shot across the bow. But the flipping of heretofore unknown 30 year old dumbass George Papadopoulos was the equivalent of torpedoing a ship which was already listing.

It appears that Papadopoulos was a low-enough-level functionary that he could be used as an intermediary between the campaign and Russia. He wouldn’t raise any immediate alarms. However, in the irony of all ironies, there was an email trail. Papadopoulos lied to the FBI, was caught out in his lies, and flipped with the alacrity of an acrobat high on speed. A 30-year old gonef won’t want to spend his salad days in a Federal penitentiary.

Have no doubt about what Mueller is saying with today’s events: He has the information he needs to nail Donald Trump. He’s now in the process of dotting i’s and crossing t’s. From all indications, Gates had no idea he was under investigation, as he had no lawyer and was represented by a public defender at his bail hearing. If people as unknown as he and Papadopoulos were caught in the net, no one is safe.

Trump said in an on-the-record interview with the Washington Post that Papadopolous was one of his main sources of foreign policy advice.

Per our producer, the conditions for release for Manafort and Gates will be home detention with daily reporting, both surrendered passports.

@The Moar You Know: @PhoenixRising: Manafort will plead for a deal. He is desperate to have extradition to Ukraine taken off the table. And everything he was charged with today could be mirrored by NY state AG Schneiderman if they President decided to pardon him. So anything that keeps him from being extradited to Ukraine, where he’d be executed, is what Manafort is looking for.

  14. Breaking: Paul Manafort and Rick Gates plead not guilty at arraignment

Mr Reines needs to calm down..

What we really don’t need right now, is some of these folks ruining or distracting from this buffoon-focused eviction process..

Mueller has to be commended for his discretion thus far…avoiding the limelight, keeping his head down and ignoring the media circus, and staying focused…and staying the course..

If he pulls this off, Mueller will be my forever and ever favorite and only republican I respect…

I’ve had my reservations that he could do this…

Republicans generally have a terrible record on real and sustained integrity and true love of country…beyond trite flag-flying..and hiding behind the flag to push some b.s agenda..

Prove us all wrong Mr Mueller…show the world that there is still at least one good, selfless, fearless, patriotic Republican unafraid to go the whole hog on behalf of his country…to eschew the lure of tax breaks for the 1% and all the other promised ‘perks’ by an illegitimately installed buffoonish pseudo-strongman …and the complicit congressional republicans doing the bidding of the oligarchs who own them, and their special interests and ‘priorities’..

Pull it off for America Mr Mueller…show the world that there are still men of integrity left in this great country …real men of superior intellect, dignity and power used for the patriotic good in the best sense of it – and the ability to deftly navigate, thwart, outsmart and reverse the treasonous harm done to our country and democracy by a puny hostile enemy and the hollow, greedy, traitorous Americans they were able buy .. and the hollow, vainglorious, megalomaniac buffoonish puppet they installed atop our government…

Our honor as the greatest world power is under question…our democracy, under threat …the right and only patriotic thing to do on behalf of this our once great nation is to take down and permanently eject all of Vlad’s American installs..

    • eliihass says:

Insert also ‘foreign adviser’ Carter Page someplace next to Papado..

The only thing that can make all this even better in the end, is if Stephen Miller is thrown in along with his old Senate boss Beauregard… and slapped around by Mueller personally..

I don’t worry about Bannon..,his karma will come; but just like the man himself, his reckoning will happen most ordinarily…and poof, his Mercer-funded world will come crashing down with just a self-pitying whimper..
