Steve Bannon is reportedly on the warpath against hedge fund titan Paul Singer
    Alex Morrell

Paul Singer, one of the most feared activist hedge fund titans in the world, is used to tangling with high-powered corporate executives.

But how will Singer, a prolific GOP donor and once-fervent opponent of President Donald Trump, fair against the alt-right?

We may be about to find out, as Steve Bannon, the former White House chief strategist and current Breitbart News executive chairman, is now reportedly on a mission to destroy Singer, who runs $34 billion fund Elliott Management, according to Axios.

The battle further highlights the splintered Republican Party, pitting an establishment GOP stalwart in Singer against Bannon, perhaps the most influential leader of the alt-right.

Here’s how Singer landed in Bannon’s sights, and how the feud is playing out:

Singer, one of the Republican Party’s most important donors, was a leader of the “Never Trump” movement during the presidential campaign.
It was recently reported that the Washington Free Beacon, a conservative website that Singer bankrolls, was funding the opposition research by the firm Fusion GPS that helped produce the “Steele dossier,” the salacious and uncorroborated report implicating Trump for connections to Russia named after ex-British spy Christopher Steele.

U.S. federal court in Washington on Monday blocked President Donald Trump’s administration from enforcing his ban on transgender people serving in the American military.

A group of transgender service members last month asked the court to block the planned ban while it considers their claims that it violates their U.S. constitutional rights to due process and equal protection under the law. U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly said the plaintiffs were entitled to an injunction halting enforcement of the ban until their case is resolved.

“At the same time, supporters of the development, like Mainor, have begun to ask if the $300 million project is being held up to unusual scrutiny. Some have asked if the Obama Presidential Center — which has the potential to transform struggling parts of the South Side — is facing demands beyond those placed on other large-scale projects in the city.

“Where was the picketing and advocating when there were other major developments — that’s the question,” said Al DeBonnett, the chair of the Jackson Park Golf and Community Leadership Advisory Council, who pointed to the construction of Millennium and Maggie Daley parks as examples of larger developments that didn’t seem to face as much backlash.”

    This seems fking brilliant.

Lots and lots of eyes on Manafort, and then the real killer knife in the ribs happens an hour or two later when the Papadopoulos plea is released.

The FBI was on him on January 27th. January! It also appears that he was charged in early October and two days later flipped and accepted a plea. So that’s weeks of him assisting Mueller, now. And he was an official advisor to the campaign, and his near invisibility makes him strangely harder to distance from Trump, IMO: he wasn’t hired to bring flash. He was hired to dig dirt.

Trump may not understand the gravity of this one, and lots of stuff will fly back and forth about Manafort. But keep your eyes on the flip productivity of Papadopoulos.

    Wow.

Unless we find out in the end that Kelly was in fact a plant working with Mueller from the inside…I hope all sane and decent people who haven’t by now, completely disabuse themselves of any illusion that a guy who voluntary accepted to work for, and subsequently ingratiated himself and stayed for whatever reason, with a treasonous buffoon hoisted to ‘power’ by a hostile foreign entity…is no patriot…

His apologists can try to spin it every way they like, but this is no patriot..

It is said that everyone has a price… didn’t take much with the so-called ‘distinguished’ general..

Look at Flynn.. What self-respecting patriot ..a former high-ranking military man for that matter, sells out to a well-known enemy state…and for pittance no less..

At least Manafort was laundering some fairly decent numbers…still not enough to sell ones soul to the enemy…$75 million…of which he probably got a percentage…but spent like a drunk sailor and ended up right back at the foreign trough again and again …that strangely addictive thing about easy, dirty money..

But when you realize the peanuts paid the other ‘general’ ..the original one that strutted around our White House earlier this year…acting all important and all pseudo-strongman …churning out threats to enemy countries that didn’t have the foresight to hire him to do their bidding for a whopping $35,000..

The seduction of white supremacy reigning supreme once again like it was 1920, has been completely embraced by much more than a few crazies like Bannon and the Mercers…there are more than a few previously touted as ‘decent’, ‘honorable’ folks…even some on our side, who are quite comfortable with the concept… There are days it’s obvious some of the women too…even foreign ones like Katty Kay…have those moments when they’d be grateful to have colored folks shown their place …in the back house…and taught a lesson by a good flogging if they dared step out line..

A return to a time when colored folk knew their place…out of sight, busy doing some floor-scrubbing and soil-tilling for massa…that glorious time when they were seen and not heard…

A time when they shut up and entertained massa and his guests…and allowed massa to sit on their back to rest his tired feet…while massa’s wife Ms Anne and daughter, Ms Becky, took turns checking out Mandingo when no one was looking..

There Was No Reason To Hire Manafort Except to Collude with Russia
    by David Atkins
    October 29, 2017

As the political world waits anxiously for the seal to be broken on special counsel Robert Mueller’s indictments, the smart money is on Paul Manafort as the principal target. Manafort is clearly corrupt, having made millions under the table selling his services to pro-Putin forces in Ukraine. He’s the target of an FBI probe focused on at least 13 suspicious wire transfers related to his dealing overseas.

Beyond pathetically attempting to redirect attention to Hillary Clinton and attack the integrity of the Steele dossier, the conservative line is that while Manafort may have been involved in shady dealings, and while Trump’s family and campaign may have met with Russians promising to deliver dirt on his opponent, Trump himself was not complicit with Russia to interfere in the election.

This is almost assuredly untrue, because there was no reason to hire Manafort in the first place except to collude with Russia.

Mueller indicts Paul Manafort, former Trump campaign chair
    10/30/17 08:49 AM—UPDATED 10/30/17 08:59 AM
    By Steve Benen

When we learned on Friday that Special Counsel Robert Mueller was poised to issue the first criminal indictment in the Trump-Russia probe, it was entirely possible that it’d be a relatively low-profile figure facing charges. The president’s critics, hoping for a blockbuster revelation, needed to keep their expectations in check.

As it turns out, however, when the former chairman of Donald Trump’s presidential campaign is indicted, it’s an extraordinarily big deal.

Former Donald Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort and his longtime business associate Rick Gates have been told to surrender to law enforcement on Monday, a senior U.S. official told NBC News.

They are the first people to turn be ordered to surrender in the investigation by Special Counsel Robert Mueller into the Trump campaign’s alleged ties to Russia and Moscow’s interference in the election last year.

Rick Gates’ name may not be immediately familiar, but his name came up in a recent interview Rachel did with Greg Farrell, investigative reporter for Bloomberg News. Also note, the New York Times published a profile on Gates in June.
