A former campaign aide to President Trump said the president is “f–ked” now that his former campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, has been indicted.
“Here’s what Manafort’s indictment tells me: Mueller is going to go over every financial dealing of Jared Kushner and the Trump Organization,” Sam Nunberg told Vanity Fair.
“Trump is at 33 percent in Gallup. You can’t go any lower. He’s fucked.”
Nunberg was fired by President Trump. Last year, Trump accused the former campaign aide of breaching a confidentiality agreement and sued for damages.
Trump hit an all-time low in the most recent Gallup tracking poll. Only 33 percent of respondents in the Gallup daily survey earlier this week said they approved of the job Trump is doing as president.
Sixty-two percent said they disapproved of Trump’s job performance.
The poll came before Monday’s news that Manafort was being charged with money laundering and tax fraud, among other crimes. It was the first indictment to come from Mueller’s investigation of Russia’s interference in the election.

Gothamist, DNAinfo, LAist And Other Local News Sites Have Suddenly Shut Down. The move to shutter the local news and culture websites comes a week after editors and reporters joined a union.
Reporters at the local news sites, which were still churning out scheduled social media content Thursday afternoon linking to the now-defunct sites, did not appear to have been informed of the decision ahead of the closure.

When I woke up this morning and read what Donna Brazille said, I was speechless. I couldn’t fathom why she would do that. Then it came to me…money and hurt.
This last presidential election, for the first time, I had said I wasn’t going to vote. I didn’t want to vote for Hillary because I hadn’t gotten over how she treated President Obama when she ran against him. However, when Trump was picked as the presidential nominee, I watched his rally. After watching his rally, I went out that day and voted for Hillary.
Trump is no earthly good. That man is so full of hate and crazier than a road lizard. If I were a teacher, I’d rate his education at 3rd grade level. I have grandchildren who know more than him. His intention is to rob the U.S. treasury down to the last penny and to destroy the U.S. government. He wants to be King.
If him, Ryan, and those in the GOP Congress that are in agreement with Trump pass their tax reform bill, it will go down in history as the greatest American heist in history. The last recession was bad, but this time it’ll cause another depression. I told y’all in the beginning of the year that Trump was gonna open the door to predatory capitalism and predatory thieves. Looks like that’s coming to past.
Nor am I surprised at Ryan’s attempt to steal grandma and grandpa’s check again. Think back to that time in the past when he tried to do it to enrich his families’ business. His ass needs to go too along with Pence, McConnell, Sessions, and Trump’s whole entire team/cabinet.
Grabbing my attention here lately besides the collusion with Russia is how quite a few GOP Congressmen are retiring at the same time. For some reason, it strikes me as odd and a red flag comes up. I wonder if it has something to do with the tax cuts or the collusion or Trump.
Something else, I haven’t quite put the pieces together yet has to do with a real estate scamming and land scamming. I know that Kushner is in real estate business.
The other night I had a dream. I saw that little gadget, can’t think of the name of it, it sits on people’s desk with a nail in the center of it mounted on a wood or metal base. People stack messages or old notes, etc., on it. Anyway, I saw what looked like blank sugar packets, but heard receipts being stacked on top of each other. What I mean by blank is that there were no names on the packets and they were shaped like a sugar packet. Some of them looked far back, but not too far in distance. Those packets were being added to the stack as if that gadget was sort of like a magnet. I believe those packets represented those sealed indictments with more to come.
I’ve been so overwhelmed and exhausted lately with personal stuff. Trying to keep up with the news and focus has been draining. Nevertheless, I’m trying to do my best to focus on getting Trump impeached. He needs to go for the sake of this nation and its people’s safety and well-being.

Scott Pruitt Just Stripped The EPA’s Science Boards In Favor Of Industry ‘Counsel’

The head of the Environmental Protection Agency, Scott Pruitt, just stripped the EPA’s science advisory committee, which counsels the agency on scientific decisions.
The new rules bar anyone who receives grant money from the EPA to serve on an advisory council for the agency’s scientific decisions. The reason, according to Scott Pruitt is to limit conflict of interest from professors who receive money from the EPA to advise on scientific conclusions. However, stringent conflict of interest policies are already in place and there have been no cases of researchers profiting from EPA’s scientific decisions.
Mr. Pruitt has instead decided that industry representatives from oil and gas and electric industries are far more unbiased to advise on EPA decisions. That’s like saying the National Institute of Health (NIH), which funds medical research, should ignore the advice of doctors conducting research in favor of the advice from pharmaceutical salesmen.
The reason behind why the EPA provides these grants is to help the agency, through universities and professors, conduct the research it does not have the capacity to study. If the agency is funding these grants, one ought to think they should utilize those researchers when making decisions on that very topic. Of course, barring any conflict of interest, which already existed.
While initial inspection may present this as a way for Mr. Pruitt to make scientific decisions more grounded in science, he’s doing just the opposite under the guise of this new rule. Now, when the EPA funds a grant to study everything from lead in drinking water to toxic gas emissions from factories the ones who advise the EPA on paths forward will not be professors but representatives from the exact industries the EPA is meant to regulate.

Blue Dog Dems weighing support for GOP tax bill

Conservative-leaning Democrats said Thursday that they’ll take a look at the Republicans’ sweeping tax reform proposal in hopes of reaching a bipartisan deal –– a sharp contrast to the immediate vilification coming from Democratic leaders.
The leaders of the Blue Dogs, while quick to bash the partisan process in which GOP tax plan was forged, said they’re analyzing the legislation to see if it meets their standards. If Republicans cross the aisle for input, the lawmakers suggested, there may be room for them to jump on board.
“As Blue Dogs, the door is never closed to pursuing bipartisan solutions,” the three Blue Dog co-chairman –– Reps. Jim Costa (D-Calif.), Henry Cuellar (D-Texas) and Daniel Lipinski (D-Ill.) –– said in a statement.
“Although we strongly disagree with the process that produced this tax bill, our members will evaluate its contents in a measured way to see how it compares to the principles of the Blue Dog Vision for Tax Reform.
“History proves that a bipartisan process can lead to credible revenue neutral tax reform,” they added. “Our hope is that our Republican colleagues remember that, and participate in the give and take that’s required for a truly bipartisan solution.”

House Republican leaders on Thursday proposed legislation that would overhaul the U.S. tax code, slash corporate and individual income tax rates and jettison numerous tax breaks Americans and businesses have used for years to limit their tax bills.
The release of the proposal accelerates a frantic political effort that could impact almost every American household and business. In a number of cases, the tax plan cuts back on tax benefits for families and individuals while expanding tax benefits for companies.
The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act would lower the corporate tax rate from 35 percent to 20 percent and collapse the seven tax brackets paid by families and individuals down to four. It would create giant new benefits for the wealthy by cutting business taxes, eliminating the estate tax, and ending the alternative minimum tax.
The legislation would cut in half the popular mortgage interest deduction used by millions of American homeowners, changing the deduction’s rules for new mortgages. Presently, Americans can deduct interest payments made on their first $1 million worth of home loans. Under the bill, for new mortgages, they would only be able to deduct interest payments made on their first $500,000 worth of home loans.

Plus elimination of the state income tax deduction (I heard that on MSNBC so I’m assuming it’s true.
They think they’re hurting blue states (California and New York), taking it out of their hides.

I’ll read it again, but the only thing I see in the Brazile article that might be a bombshell )in some circles) is this:
“…I at last found the document that described it all: the Joint Fund-Raising Agreement between the DNC, the Hillary Victory Fund, and Hillary for America.”
The agreement—signed by Amy Dacey, the former CEO of the DNC, and Robby Mook with a copy to Marc Elias—specified that in exchange for raising money and investing in the DNC, Hillary would control the party’s finances, strategy, and all the money raised. Her campaign had the right of refusal of who would be the party communications director, and it would make final decisions on all the other staff. The DNC also was required to consult with the campaign about all other staffing, budgeting, data, analytics, and mailings.”
We already knew about the transfers of funds between the Hillary Victory Fund, the states, and the DNC. I remember reading that Politico article from May of 2016 that Ms. Brazile mentions. So, none of that is news and apparently not illegal, just “looked unethical” as Ms. Brazile states.
It’s the signed agreement and the fact that Hillary was controlling the Democratic party long before she became the nominee that is the big news. And I suppose we could also say that the DNC agreeing to all of this is another issue.

Well, I’m not saying they won’t try, but it would be an epic case of false equivalence. Internal financial shenanigans and written agreements that look (and probably are) unethical versus collusion with a foreign government interested in influencing our presidential election? That dog won’t hunt, at least among reasonably intelligent people.
I’m curious too about why Donna Brazile chose this time to write this article. Maybe it’s a reaction to Hillary’s book (which I haven’t read).
And the hell of it is, the super delegates were going to make sure Hillary won the nomination.
One last thought.
Perhaps Ms. Brazile believes that by publicizing her apology to Bernie Sanders, she is in effect apologizing to his supporters and this might help heal the rift.
I don’t know. I think that Hillary supporters ramped up their attacks on Bernie Sanders since the publication of her book. Isn’t Bernie one of the people she blamed for losing?

The goal of Trump and the Republican leaders is to pull off a giant redistribution of over $1 trillion from the middle class, working class, and poor to the rich, who are already richer than ever.
They’re selling this to the public with a false claim that the middle class will benefit from their tax cut plan. It’s a gigantic Trojan horse.
For most Americans, the proposed tax cuts are tiny and temporary. That’s right – temporary. They will shrink in just a few years. And some middle class Americans will actually get a tax increase.
Meanwhile, the top 1 percent will get a gigantic tax cut. The Tax Policy Center estimates that the current plan will save the bottom 80 percent between $50 and $450 in taxes per year, but that it saves each person in the top 1 percent an average of $129,000 a year. For people at the very top, like Trump himself, the tax cuts are humongous. And the corporations they own will also get a massive tax cut.
Republicans say economic “growth” will pay for the tax cuts, so there’s no need to cut social programs like Medicare and Medicaid.
But Republicans have just passed a budget that would cut nearly $1.5 trillion from Medicare and Medicaid to pay for these tax cuts. Pell Grants, housing assistance, and even cancer research are also on the chopping block.
Now, they say we shouldn’t take their budget resolution seriously. It was just a device to get the tax bill through the Senate with 51 votes.
But once these tax cuts are passed, the budget deficit will explode. The Tax Policy Center predicts that it will cut federal revenue by $2.4 trillion over the next 10 years.
When that happens, the only way out of the crisis will be something dramatic – exactly the cuts in Medicare and Medicaid, and maybe even Social Security – that Republicans have wanted for years.
By this time, any talk of raising taxes on the rich will be dismissed.
Using the promise of middle-class tax cuts as a Trojan horse for a tax windfall for the rich and deep spending cuts is a tactic dating back to the Reagan administration.
But the version they’re aiming for now is “YUGE.”
We must see the strategy for what it is. And it must be stopped.

Buried deep in Robert Mueller’s indictment of Paul Manafort is a new link between Donald Trump’s former campaign and Russian organized crime.
The indictment (PDF), unsealed on Monday, includes an extensive look into Paul Manafort’s byzantine financial dealings. In particular, it details how he used a company called Lucicle Consultants Limited to wire millions of dollars into the United States.
The Cyprus-based Lucicle Consultants Limited, in turn, reportedly received millions of dollars from a businessman and Ukrainian parliamentarian named Ivan Fursin, who is closely linked to one of Russia’s most notorious criminals: Semion Mogilevich.
Mogilevich is frequently described as “the most dangerous mobster in the world.” Currently believed to be safe in Moscow, he is, according to the FBI, responsible for weapons trafficking, contract killings, and international prostitution. In 2009, he made the bureau’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list.

n a sunny August day, an elderly, fragile-looking black man sits slumped in a wheelchair, eyes closed, outside the doors of a DaVita Dialysis center. The business takes up the corner of a run-down strip mall in Southeast D.C., in a heavily black neighborhood across the river from the Capitol. It’s next door to a liquor store and steps away from an ACE Cash Express check-cashing outlet, a barbershop, and a takeout place. A big sign on the glass warns visitors that firearms are not allowed inside. A handicapped-accessible public bus waits in the parking lot to take other patients home.
It’s midafternoon, but the shopping center is buzzing with knots of people hanging out by the takeout and the barbershop. Everybody seems to know someone on dialysis. One man in a barber’s smock out for a cigarette break says he had a friend who died at a dialysis center. He says ambulances are a constant presence at the DaVita clinic. It’s not unusual for people to die on dialysis: nationally, about one-fourth of patients die in the first year, and six in ten will be dead within five years.
As many as thirty million Americans have chronic kidney disease. If you’re one of them, and you’re white, well educated, and middle class or higher, odds are you’ll get the kind of medical care that will save your kidneys. You likely have private health insurance and get regular checkups. You probably caught your condition early and are taking medication to slow down the disease’s progression.
But if you are poor, less educated, and black, the odds are much greater that your disease will run unchecked and your kidneys will eventually fail. According to the National Institutes of Health, black people are nearly four times as likely to suffer kidney failure as whites. Then you will likely end up on dialysis, spending three days a week, four hours at a time, at a place like this one, as your blood is pumped out of your body, filtered, and pumped back in.

This is what President Donald Trump said yesterday in response to the terrorist attack that killed eight people in New York.
As Marshall notes, he just called our justice system a joke and a laughing stock. I’m not one to suggest that our system is perfect, but to let that kind of thing pass as simply another Trumpism is to normalize one of the most outrageous statements uttered by this man who now occupies the White House. The idea that he is a “law and order president” is beyond the pale.
I’ll also note that he called the alleged perpetrator of this crime an “animal.” His whole demeanor and language yesterday were in stark contrast to his response to the shooting in Las Vegas. During his remarks about that incident he called the actions of the shooter “pure evil.” But he never dehumanized that white man by calling him an animal.
Well, as you might imagine, this is getting attention…

Before I called Bernie Sanders, I lit a candle in my living room and put on some gospel music. I wanted to center myself for what I knew would be an emotional phone call.
I had promised Bernie when I took the helm of the Democratic National Committee after the convention that I would get to the bottom of whether Hillary Clinton’s team had rigged the nomination process, as a cache of emails stolen by Russian hackers and posted online had suggested. I’d had my suspicions from the moment I walked in the door of the DNC a month or so earlier, based on the leaked emails. But who knew if some of them might have been forged? I needed to have solid proof, and so did Bernie.
So I followed the money. My predecessor, Florida Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, had not been the most active chair in fundraising at a time when President Barack Obama’s neglect had left the party in significant debt. As Hillary’s campaign gained momentum, she resolved the party’s debt and put it on a starvation diet. It had become dependent on her campaign for survival, for which she expected to wield control of its operations.
Debbie was not a good manager. She hadn’t been very interested in controlling the party—she let Clinton’s headquarters in Brooklyn do as it desired so she didn’t have to inform the party officers how bad the situation was. How much control Brooklyn had and for how long was still something I had been trying to uncover for the last few weeks.
By September 7, the day I called Bernie, I had found my proof and it broke my heart.
