Woman says Roy Moore initiated sexual encounter when she was 14, he was 32

Leigh Corfman says she was 14 years old when an older man approached her outside a courtroom in Etowah County, Ala. She was sitting on a wooden bench with her mother, they both recall, when the man introduced himself as Roy Moore.

Alone with Corfman, Moore chatted with her and asked for her phone number, she says. Days later, she says, he picked her up around the corner from her house in Gadsden, drove her about 30 minutes to his home in the woods, told her how pretty she was and kissed her. On a second visit, she says, he took off her shirt and pants and removed his clothes. He touched her over her bra and underpants, she says, and guided her hand to touch him over his underwear.

Aside from Corfman, three other women interviewed by The Washington Post in recent weeks say Moore pursued them when they were between the ages of 16 and 18 and he was in his early 30s, episodes they say they found flattering at the time, but troubling as they got older. None of the women say that Moore forced them into any sort of relationship or sexual contact.
Wendy Miller says she was 14 and working as a Santa’s helper at the Gadsden Mall when Moore first approached her, and 16 when he asked her on dates, which her mother forbade. Debbie Wesson Gibson says she was 17 when Moore spoke to her high school civics class and asked her out on the first of several dates that did not progress beyond kissing. Gloria Thacker Deason says she was an 18-year-old cheerleader when Moore began taking her on dates that included bottles of Mateus Rosé wine. The legal drinking age in Alabama was 19.

“…On August 1, one day after the abrupt exit of White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci, President Trump dined with a communications whiz: Rupert Murdoch.
The two men had a private dinner at the White House, according to two sources with direct knowledge of the meeting.
Murdoch is the patriarch of 21st Century Fox (FOX), one of the world’s most powerful media companies, and News Corp, the owner of newspapers like the Wall Street Journal. He doubles as the CEO of Fox News.
So any interaction between the two men is intriguing, especially because the Journal’s editorial board has become increasingly critical of the president. A White House spokeswoman did not respond to requests for comment about the dinner. A Murdoch spokeswoman declined to comment.
In April, the New York Times identified Murdoch as one of Trump’s informal advisers and said the two men speak by phone every week.
Around the same time, Gabriel Sherman of New York magazine reported that Trump was overheard on a hot mic telling Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo that “Rupert’s been a lot better to me than Roger ever was.”
CNNMoney has previously reported that the president has told associates that Murdoch treats him better than ex-Fox News chairman Roger Ailes did. The president “talks about how the coverage under Murdoch is better than under Ailes,” a White House source said in April..”

U.S. soldier killed in the Niger ambush was bound and appears to have been executed, according to two villagers
The body of La David Johnson, one of four American soldiers killed in an ambush by Islamist militants last month, was found with his arms tied behind his back, according to villagers who saw his body. Johnson had a large gaping wound in the back of his head, they say. The new information raises questions about whether he was captured and killed after the attack, and it could help explain why it to took two days to find Johnson’s body while the other men’s remains were retrieved several hours after the battle.
Johnson’s widow has said that the U.S. military advised her not to view his corpse, a suggestion often made when remains are badly disfigured. Myeshia Johnson has emerged as a prominent figure in the uproar over the Niger attack, accusing President Trump of acting cavalierly about her husband in a condolence call, a charge the White House has denied. Red state lawmakers find blue state piggy bank

Red states are using blue states as their new piggy bank in the GOP Congress.
On big legislative issues such as tax reform and ObamaCare repeal, Republicans in the Senate have sought to redistribute federal funds from New York, New Jersey and other blue states dominated by Democrats to the red states in the South, Midwest and Great Plains that are mostly represented by the GOP.
The most recent example is a GOP tax plan that would limit local and state sales, income and property tax deductions — which would hurt suburban taxpayers in blue states with high property taxes.
Republicans are doing away with the deduction because they need to lower the cost of their tax bill, which reduces the corporate tax rate to 20 percent. It just so happens that the major deduction getting the axe delivers big benefits to blue-state taxpayers.

The Air Force missed three opportunities to prevent Texas church shooter Devin Kelley from purchasing firearms in recent years, according to a report from Reuters.
The military branch missed two opportunities to stop Kelley from buying guns after he was accused of violence in 2012, according to officials and military documents obtained by the publication.
Kelley had been court-martialed in 2012 for assaulting his wife and stepson, including cracking the infant’s skull. Authorities also missed a third chance to put an alert on Kelly when a Pentagon probe of cases did not include him.
The report comes after the Air Force revealed on Monday it had failed to enter Kelly’s domestic violence conviction in a federal database used for background checks on gun sales.
