beautiful-christmas-candles-5Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree is a Christmas song written by Johnny Marks and recorded by Brenda Lee in 1958 on Decca9-30776.

Although Decca released it in both 1958 and again in 1959, it did not sell well until Lee became a popular star in 1960; that Christmas season, it hit #14 on the Billboard pop chart and turned into a perennial holiday favorite. It continued to sell well during the holiday season, hitting #5 on the Christmas chart as late as 1984. Brenda Lee’s recording still receives a great deal of airplay. Despite the song’s title, its instrumentation also fits the Country genre which Brenda Lee more fully embraced as her career evolved. Despite her mature-sounding voice, she recorded this song when she was only 14 years old. The recording featured Hank Garland’s ringing guitar.

For decades, Brenda Lee’s recording was the only notable version of the song. Radio stations ranging from Top 40 to Adult Contemporary to Country Music to Oldies to even Adult Standards played this version.

The Democrats could win Nevada. But I look at this list and wonder where else they might win. Arizona looks like a possibility but I wouldn’t count on it.

On Dec. 29, a transition adviser to Mr. Trump, K. T. McFarland, wrote in an email to a colleague that sanctions announced hours before by the Obama administration in retaliation for Russian election meddling were aimed at discrediting Mr. Trump’s victory. The sanctions could also make it much harder for Mr. Trump to ease tensions with Russia, “which has just thrown the U.S.A. election to him,” she wrote in the emails obtained by The Times.
It is not clear whether Ms. McFarland was saying she believed that the election had in fact been thrown. A White House lawyer said on Friday that she meant only that the Democrats were portraying it that way.

Particularly the 20% corporate rate as politicians will view raising it to 21 or 22 as a piggy bank to rob to pay for their favorite special interest.…

Sen. Chuck Schumer Shames GOP Tax Bill: It’s A ‘Stunning Deception’
“If it creates jobs or loses them ― who knows? Certainly no one here.”

    By Carla Herreria

Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) shamed Republicans on the Senate floor hours before lawmakers voted on their nearly 500-page tax bill, which included handwritten notes and crossed-out pages.

“Historians will mark this day as one of the darkest black-letter days in the long history of this Senate,” Schumer said during his request to delay voting on the bill until Monday.

“Once hailed as the world’s greatest deliberative body, as a beacon of American democracy and the envy of representative governments around the world, the Senate seems to have abandoned those qualities in a rush to pass a bill that no one is proud of.”

Schumer and other Democratic senators said it would be impossible for Democrats to vote accurately on the bill because they weren’t given enough time to read it.

“It was chock-full of special-interest giveaways before tonight, but under the cover of darkness and with the aid of haste, a flurry of last-minute changes will stuff even more money into the pockets of the wealthy and the biggest corporations while raising taxes on millions in the middle class.”

Schumer pleaded with the GOP to push back voting on the bill so that lawmakers could “clean” it up.

“I would make one final plea,” he said. “Because this bill is so slanted toward the wealthy and powerful … because the bill was given to lobbyists to read and change before senators saw it, and because the bill was given to us on a few hours notice and has not been read fully or considered fully by a single senator, I move we adjourn until Monday, so we can first read and then clean up this awful piece of legislation.”

Senate Republicans voted against Schumer’s push to stall the GOP tax bill 48-52.

Democrats were outraged when they received a draft of the Republican’s tax bill late in the day on Friday and many lawmakers rushed to read through its 479 pages.

“Real bipartisan tax reform isn’t handwritten behind closed doors,” the Senate Democrats tweeted Friday night, including the hashtag #GOPTaxScam.

    BRAIN FREEZE!!!

No one asked this POS why Americans need to march in the first place, to get the lazy ass folks they voted for to do their fucking jobs.

It’s the same thing with the 2 political parties, begging for money, ON THE REGULAR from constituents to do their fucking jobs.

    • Liza says:

I was thinking… Maybe I’ve missed something but I haven’t seen too many Democratic senators raising hell about this GOP tax scam. A few have been speaking out. Elizabeth Warren, Cory Booker, and Kamala Harris are the ones I’ve seen. And, of course, Bernie Sanders has been raising hell.

But it seems to me that Democrats have been mostly silent and I fear they think that allowing the GOP enough rope to hang itself helps them win in 2018 without having to take potentially controversial positions.

      I don’t know.
