beautiful-candles-6White Christmas” is an Irving Berlin song reminiscing about an old-fashioned Christmas setting. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the version sung by Bing Crosby is the best-selling single of all time, with estimated sales in excess of 50 million copies worldwide.[1][2][3][4]

Accounts vary as to when and where Berlin wrote the song.[4] One story is that he wrote it in 1940, in warm La Quinta, California, while staying at the La Quinta Hotel, a frequent Hollywood retreat also favored by writer-producer Frank Capra. He often stayed up all night writing — he told his secretary, “Grab your pen and take down this song. I just wrote the best song I’ve ever written — heck, I just wrote the best song that anybody’s ever written!”

Black Georgia Mayor Can’t Get the Keys to His Own Office, Thanks to Racist City Council

An African-American mayor in Camilla, Ga. is protesting his own city amid claims of government-mandated segregation.

Last week, Mayor Rufus Davis said city council members voted not to give him keys to his own office at City Hall, topping a list of alleged racist policies aimed at keeping Blacks and whites separated, CBS Atlanta reported. The City of Camilla boasts a nearly 70% African-American population, yet Blacks aren’t allowed to be buried next to whites and white school-aged children are relegated to an all-white private school, according to Davis.

Sen. Bob Corker Failed to Properly Disclose Millions of Dollars in Income

Tennessee Republican files amendments to reports going back to 2007; ‘I am extremely disappointed in the filing errors’

WASHINGTON—Sen. Bob Corker failed to properly disclose millions of dollars in income from real estate, hedge funds and other investments since entering the Senate in 2007, according to new financial reports filed by the Tennessee Republican.

Mr. Corker late Friday filed a series of amendments showing that his personal financial reports as originally filed included dozens of errors and omissions. The new filings came after The Wall Street Journal asked the senator’s office about some irregularities in his prior financial reports.

Red state: His taxes go DOWN by $462,709.

Could the immoral intent here be more obvious, @SenBobCorker?

“Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?”
by Betty Crackerat9:50 am on December 18, 2017. It has 61 Comments.

It’s a virtual certainty that the GOP will ramrod the “Pass-Through Entities Enrichment and Donor Relief Act” this week, giving the Scheißegibbon a much-needed “win” by leveraging the U.S. tax code to widen the already Gilded Age-scale wealth inequality gap. But today is still a good time to call your senators:

    (202) 224-3121

Why bother? Well, “Liddle” Bob Corker felt sufficiently soiled by the tawdry process that he was moved to pretend he didn’t know the #CorkerKickback was added specifically to corral his vote.

Rihanna Brings On SZA As Latest Fenty Beauty Model
This heavenly collaboration proves 2017 is the year of the black woman.

SZA caps off an amazing year with a new collaboration with bad gal Ri Ri’s Fenty Beauty. The New Jersey R&B singer has gained the attention of the Grammys by receiving five nominations for her work on her hit debut “CTRL” and for writing some of 2017’s biggest hits. In fact, she is the most nominated woman.
Her songs have dominated the Top 40, she has appeared on “Saturday Night Live” as a musical guest and she has carved a place in pop culture for her bold statements on social media.

The news broke last week in a now-viral Instagram post that the Top Dawg entertainment artist will be modeling for Fenty Beauty. The beauty brand, that has been estimated at $70 million in advertising revenue, prides itself on providing shades for all black women left behind by other makeup brands.

With her pitch-black hair slicked back in a ponytail, SZA’s face illuminates the photo. She models Fenty Beauty shade Midnight Wasabi.

The Outcome Is the Same Whether Trump Fires Mueller Or Not
    by David Atkins
    December 17, 2017

Much of the country is now asking the same questions in nervous apprehension: will Trump fire Mueller or won’t he? If he does, what do we do?

Special Counsel Mueller’s probe is tightening its noose around Trump’s immediate family and advisers, flipping core lieutenants, and digging both into potential crimes of state and financial misdeeds in the Trump Organization.

Republicans and their media allies are getting very nervous, and have moved from simply trying to discredit the Mueller probe to blatantly demanding that Trump instigate a modern Saturday Night Massacre by firing Deputy Attorney General Rosenstein and replacing him with a loyalist who will fire Mueller. President Trump is setting the table for a authoritarian crackdown before Mueller can present his charges to Congress.

Trump will almost certainly do it, if for no other reason than that the calculus doesn’t change much for either side whether he does it or not. Accountability for Trump’s alleged misdeeds still comes down to the 2018 elections in either scenario. So why would Trump let Mueller continue to operate?

Even if Trump doesn’t fire Mueller, the likelihood that the Republican Congress will impeach him is next to nil. Republicans have already shown that they are far more afraid of Trump’s rabid fans in the GOP base than they are of anti-Trump backlash. They’re gearing up to pass a corrupt, massively unpopular tax cut just to please their donors, and they’ve shown themselves willing to support their president no matter how degraded his conduct. They’ll dismiss the financial crimes as an irrelevant personal attack, ignore the Russia collusion as sour grapes, and counter the obstruction of justice charges by muddying the waters over supposed partisan corruption in the FBI.

Even More Nonsense from John Kasich
    by D.R. Tucker December 18, 2017

Does anybody buy the good-guy act at this point?

America’s favorite fake-moderate was dragged on to NBC’s Meet the Press yesterday, and again tried to promote the dubious idea that Donald Trump and Roy Moore are anomalies in the GOP, as opposed to being an accurate representation of what his party thinks and believes:

Ohio Gov. John Kasich says the Alabama Senate election shows how his own party is turning off young voters by gravitating toward anger instead of positivity in its messaging.

“I look at Alabama and I say people are not happy with us being small, angry and narrow,” the Republican told NBC’s “Meet the Press.” “They’re starting to say ‘no.’ That means that most of us who believe in a positive party are beginning to win, but we have a long way to go.”

Democrat Doug Jones won the special election in Alabama, a state that leans heavily toward Republicans. Kasich suggested that although the anti-establishment wing of the GOP is suffering from the loss, there’s an alternative part of the party ready to “fix” problems in Washington.

There is no such thing as an alternative part of the GOP ready to fix Washington’s problems. Kasich knows that, but he also knows there are people (in both the Washington press corps and in the general public) who want to believe that there is, so he simply tells them what they want to hear. This is almost as perverse and dishonest as Trump’s rhetoric.
