What weird times indeed, and what a sad, sad, sight to behold..

The forced groveling of media, ‘world leaders’, and all manner of formerly men and women of some ‘esteem’… to the percieved power vested in a Putin-installed, puffed-up, hollow, megalomaniac buffoon ..

Nothing or no one can be as lethal to black folks in this country than white skin.

This the the weapon of choice behind any tangible means of executing emotional, mental, and physical destruction of POC.

Unsurprisingly, it was McCain was who hardest on Comey from the start. “I think that maybe J. Edgar Hoover is rolling over in his grave at saying the types of things you’re saying and revealing the types of things you’re revealing,” she said. “He didn’t write a tell-all book when he left. To which moderator Whoopi Goldberg laughed and shot back, “He’s the wrong guy to bring up.”

    • Ametia says:

YOU can’t run away from the Republican Party now, Comey.

Where where you when Palin and nem were roaming th ecountry spewing their racists fuckery?

    • eliihass says:

Did that extremely hollow, opportunistic, off-putting, idiotic dum-dum Megan McCain just invoke J.Edgar Hoover..?! And did anyone explain to her not only just how problematic he was with black folks, and the gays, but that he couldn’t possibly have written a book even if he wanted to, and only because he actually died while still in office..

I remember how she used to suck up to the likes of Rachel Maddow who in turn tried to pawn her off as some sort of forward-thing, new world ‘progressive’ who just happened to be the daughter of a ‘moderate’, mavericky Republican ‘hero’ father’…

How anyone can stand this incredibly irritating, shallow, thanks to daddy hire ..and worse, take her even remotely seriously, boggles the mind..

  3. Thank you so much for your prayers. He’s still here. They’re trying to bring his blood level up so they can do surgery. He’ll stay another night. Before we got here, daughter says drs were popping in to see if he had passed out because blood level was so low. He’s sleeping now. It’s scary.

Last night, Shay Stewart Bouley (aka Black Girl in Maine) did a Twitter thread about this topic, and it is really what prompted me to write this piece. She then turned it into a longer post on her blog, called Weapon of lass destruction: The tears of a white woman. Do yourself a favor and read it. Here is the first of her many tweets on this topic:

      “..When Lorelei cries, heads roll…”.

      Excellent write-up..

Quite in line with my years of unabashed rallying for the most visible metaphor for black womanhood – my historic FLOTUS..

I’m hopeful that with each passing day, more folks actually begin to really, really get it..

When my historic FLOTUS (who was never defended or protected) recently spoke up again in defense of Hillary, I was shocked – but not really, to read some folks rail against my historic FLOTUS.. No good deed goes unpunished and all that you know..

They were mad …even though she was still speaking up for Hillary..unlike so many others who’d completely cut and run…

They were mad that as she touted Hillary as the most qualified candidate in the race, she’d added that Hillary wasn’t perfect, but was more perfect than most… How dare she, they said.. Some even called it ‘backhanded’ …And attacked my historic FLOTUS .. These were all manner of ‘liberals’ and ‘feminists’… including some coonish, please like me Lorelei, ones..

I’ll have to find and share a clip I saw a while ago of my historic FLOTUS speaking during one of her recent stops in Canada.. She spoke about how society often allowed men to fail up the ladder, and how they weren’t necessarily expected to be ‘perfect’ in any position …Later, the moderator asked her if she would run for President..no! she said …And when asked if America would ever have a woman as president, she replied that we nearly did in the last election… said that even though the candidate was qualified, smart, and had dedicated years of her life to public service, she wasn’t ‘perfect’, and so other women, voted for the even more imperfect man..

I’ll have to find that clip..

But, it’s funny to see some of these same women who’ve never supported, spoken up for, or come to my FLOTUS’ defense, have the nerve to demand anything from her..

Like I’ve said, she’s a much better woman than I’ll ever be, because no way am I putting myself out there for folks who never did, and wouldn’t ever for me..

Here’s one thread of the ‘outrage’..

    FROM JOY REID:

Nikki Haley absolutely did NOT unilaterally decide to take the confederate flag down in South Carolina. She was responding to forces outside herself: racial, political and corporate.

And let’s not forget the foreign corporations who threatened to pull out of South Carolina if the flag didn’t come down, and the families of Mother Emanuel Church, whose quiet heroism created the moral conditions for the flag’s ultimate surrender.

The media has been searching for a Republican answer to Barack Obama since 2008. It was Marco Rubio for years, and now it’s Nikki Haley. She is almost certain to run for POTUS in 2024 (or maybe 2020) with a full media entourage.

Firm Defending Cohen In Financial Probe Has Been Paid By Trump Campaign
    By Allegra Kirkland

The law firm representing Michael Cohen — which this week fought in court to shield communications between Cohen and President Trump from government investigators — has received payments from President Trump’s re-election campaign.

The payments to the law firm by Trump’s campaign could ultimately complicate any efforts by Robert Mueller’s team to win Cohen’s cooperation in the Russia investigation.

The arrangement could also violate campaign finance laws, if the Trump campaign’s payments cover legal work on the federal probe into Cohen’s financial dealings being conducted by prosecutors with the US Attorney’s office in Manhattan.

Trump’s 2020 campaign paid over $214,000 to McDermott, Will and Emory during the last three months of 2017, FEC records show. The campaign paid the firm an additional $13,000-plus in the first three months of this year.

#DianteYarber: California Cops Gun Down Father of 3 in Hail of Bullets. His Crime? Sitting in Walmart’s Parking Lot

    Kirsten West Savali
    Yesterday 9:15pm

Barstow, Calif., police officers fired what sounded like more than 30 bullets into a car in Walmart’s parking lot, killing Diante “Butchie” Yarber, 26, and shooting two other passengers, including 23-year-old Marian Tafoya who was critically wounded.

The incident occurred on the morning of April 5, when Yarber, the father of three girls, ages 9, 7, and 1, drove his cousin and friends to a local Walmart. Barstow police claim they were responding to a call about a “suspicious” vehicle in the parking lot, when they spotted Yarber waiting in a black Mustang for his passengers to return to the car.

This, per usual, is where law enforcement’s account of events doesn’t appear to align with reality.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle begin Commonwealth work

Harry said Ms Markle was “hugely excited” to join him in his duties.

Ms Rana said she asked the former actress to start up an equivalent to the UN’s HeForShe campaign, which aims to get men and boys involved in the fight to achieve gender equality.

“I said she was a great champion and ambassador for women and that she should start a SheForShe campaign,” Ms Rana said.

“She said she’d think about it – right after May 20th.”

Prince Harry has been appointed a Commonwealth Youth Ambassador by the Queen, but it is unusual for someone not yet married into the Royal Family to be included in a high-profile summit like CHOGM.

Referring to the Commonwealth, Ms Markle told some of the youth delegates: “You have this umbrella to hold you together.

Dontre Hamilton’s Family Fights for Justice in ‘The Blood is at the Doorstep’
      Sameer Rao MAR 15, 2017 1:58PM EDT

“The Blood is at the Doorstep,” which premiered at South by Southwest (SxSW) on Monday (March 13), follows Dontre Hamilton’s family as they fight for justice. An unarmed Hamilton was killed in 2014 by then-Milwaukee Police Department officer Christopher Manney, who is White. As reenacted in the film, Manney approached and searched the 31-year-old, who struggled with paranoid schizophrenia, while he lie on the ground outside a Starbucks. Following an altercation in which Hamilton grabbed Manney’s baton, Manney fired 14 shots and killed the Black man.

Howard Schultz is a former CEO, now called “executive chairman”.

      CBS NEWS April 18, 2018, 8:08 AM
Starbucks’ Howard Schultz “ashamed” after controversial arrest of two black men

Starbucks in L.A. accused of racism after bathroom incident caught on video
“CBS This Morning” co-host Gayle King sat down with Starbucks’ executive chairman Howard Schultz to discuss how the company is handling the incident.

“I’m embarrassed, ashamed. I think what occurred was reprehensible at every single level. I think I take it very personally as everyone in our company does and we’re committed to making it right. The announcement we made yesterday about closing our stores, 8,000 stores closed, to do significant training with our people is just the beginning of what we will do to transform the way we do business and educate our people on unconscious bias,” Schultz said.

“It will cost millions of dollars, but I’ve always viewed this and things like this as not an expense, but an investment in our people and our company. And we’re better than this,” he said of the company’s plan to close on May 29.

According to Schultz, the Philadelphia store manager who called the police has left the company. However, he said she is “interested” in sitting down with the two men who were arrested — something Schultz sees as a “unique opportunity” for “reconciliation.”

The former Starbucks CEO admitted that it’s possible that what unfolded in Philadelphia is not an “isolated” incident and said a complete review of their policies is in the works. Would the police have been called if the customers were white? He doesn’t think so.

“There’s no doubt in my mind that the reason that they (police) were called was because they were African American,” he said. “That’s not who Starbucks is.”

According to Schultz, Starbucks has called in people including Sherrilyn Ifill from the NAACP and Bryan Stevenson of the Equal Justice Initiative to help guide the company in its efforts to reduce unconscious bias. Starbucks CEO Kevin Johnson met with the men who were arrested to ask what the company can do for them. Schultz said that there’s a possibility the two men could end up working with the company.

“What can Starbucks, given our resources, and the capabilities we have – they have an interest in real estate – what can we do to help advise them and support their own business endeavors,” he said. “We will provide them with a foundation of learning and provide them with an opportunity to be part of our company either directly or indirectly as a result of this situation.”

    Black Lightning Fans:

Black Lightning closes out a strong debut season with a perfect, stirring finale

What’s so great about “Shadow Of Death: The Book Of War” is how the whole family comes around to this idea of responsibility, both to each other and to their community. Jenn’s only seen her recently discovered powers as a burden, but when she saves her father’s life and restores his powers before Proctor’s armed force storms the cabin, she sees their purpose. She sees the good she can do. “Oh, so this is what we do,” she says with a smirk, and Jefferson flashes one back. Again, the Pierce family dynamic shines, especially in these small moments. Yes, there’s the heartbreaking emotion of Lynn pleading with Jefferson to wake up, but there’s also the shared glances and the freedom with which they smile at each other. Black Lightning has done a tremendous job of making the Pierce family feel real, and that makes their stand against Proctor, complete with Lynn toting a shotgun, all the more satisfying. The first season follows a true arc, as the Pierce family, splintered as the season began, finds a way to work together for the common good.

I happen to agree with this. And, I don’t think they knew if they were coming back for a second season when they filmed it, so, if it HAD been the series finale, it would have been satisfying. But, now that we know that there’s going to be a Season Two – I can’t wait to get Season One on DVD :)

Now that TV season is winding down, if you need something over the summer- give Black Lightning a try. Now that the entire season is done..if you watch it in progression, I think you’ll get hooked. i love it.
