    What gives fam..?

As long as folks turn a blind eye, get distracted, pretend not to notice…and even buy into the approved ‘mainstream’ stereotypes/narratives/talking points, black folks are frankly, doomed.. And no amount of fleeting bouts of fictional escapes via movies and television will make things better..

    And shame on us..

The very same folks who demanded she publicly denounce her adulterous husband and stand with his accusers – some of whom willingly snuck around with and had affairs with him …same folks who accused her of being ‘in on it’, flung insults at her and quickly ostracized 74 year old Camille Cosby PhD – educator, philanthropist, provider of scholarships for endless numbers of black kids who otherwise would never have gone to college, appreciator and collector of black art …who actively helped elevate black artists …mother, grandmother, and long suffering wife of 54 years..

Same folk who harshly criticized and punished Camille Cosby and immediately turned her into a pariah for the sins of her husband.. So much so that when her daughter died recently, there were hardly any condolences… …no sympathy, not a kind thought or word spared …not for the woman who bore, birth and raised the deceased …and none for the untimely deceased young woman – because she’d as many daughters would have, dared to speak up for her accused father.. and dared to try to protect her mother, and their family..

Meanwhile, tomorrow in Houston, Texas, a very complicit woman …a conniving, hollow, racist, character-deficient, proven pathological liar .. much like the vile, immoral, aged, adulterous, treasonous, racist con man she hooked up with for his money, and eventually became 3rd wife to..

The faux-fragile one who boasted of having ‘fun’ with a still legally married and notoriously dubious shyster old enough to be her father, moved in with the old con before he’d divorced his 2nd wife, lied about having a college degree, lied about writing a speech which when found to be plagiarized, she then blamed on ‘a speechwriter’.. A recent immigrant who heartlessly insisted that other undocumented immigrants brought here as children should be deported to their parents’ home countries, because they were unlike herself, ‘illegal’… Same woman who cold-bloodedly insisted that the anti-Semitic attacks on the female investigative journalist who exposed her lie about having a college degree, were ‘asked for’ …who brazenly, in her very mangled English, demanded to see the birth certificate of the historic president… actively propagated the Birther lies that only served to further fuel the hate of white supremacists, and increased the death threats to the historic black First Couple, and further traumatized their then 2 minor daughters..

The now suddenly (faux) damsel in distress that has been actively protected, excused, summarily absolved, and repeatedly rescued and effusively defended by all manner of men and women – including by the ‘no slut shaming’ and ‘shes a victim too’ feminists and ‘progressives’, ..and even some black folks who never ever spoke up for their own.. Endlessly fluffed-up, with her brazen lies, obvious inconsistencies and moral-deficiency, completely glossed over..

Tomorrow, even as a woman of Camille Cosby’s caliber has been essentially reduced to nothing, ostracized and consigned to the pits ..for the sins of her husband, by the very same folks – And even as the historic first black First Couple will be expected to also play along… or else..

…there will be in full swing in Houston Texas, the ongoing project to fluff-up, absolve, legitimize, normalize and elevate the vapid, self-absorbed, gold-digging racist Birther and contrived, plastic 3rd wife and complicit deflection decoy of the treasonous con man – and by extension, him too …complete with kids gloves and all … Part and parcel of the ongoing hostile takeover and degradation of our union, and democracy …and the brazen, in your face reassertion of white supremacy and privilege on speed .. in all of its immoral, entitled, hollow, shallow, inferior, corrupt, brazen double standard, glory..

And so, with every benefit of the doubt on offer, a sly, immoral, unrepentant, congenital liar, gets to actively play to and on behalf of, the ‘winning’ vile Alt-Right who constitute his and her biggest fan base; Gleefully milking for what it’s worth, the combo benefit of the doubt, automatic chivalry, misplaced pity, ‘sympathy’, protection that comes with white privilege and the faux damsel in distress act, complete with pouting, squinting and fake, oversized silicone balloons …

Artifice and gaslighting via white supremacy taken to new heights..

Sorry, Camille Cosby .. Sorry, Sandra Bland.. Sorry, black women..

“You cannot found a nation on racist ideals, never condemn and/or revise those ideals and somehow expect different more positive societal outcomes. You also can’t make small cosmetic changes to that foundation in hopes things won’t fundamentally stay the same. You have to act boldly to eradicate the effects of racism, in law, in deed, and in custom. It has to be a daily ritual. Until that happens, we can expect more of what happened at Starbucks.”

Even as they all pretend too that the buffoon has now ‘solved’ North Korea..

Nevermind that unlike their previous ‘conservative’ presidents, the current more ‘progressive’ and ‘liberal’ South Korean President has always been known as very sympathetic to, and wanting a normalization of their relationship with the North.. and has been working hard at it independent of the United States..

Additionally, the North Koreans ‘suspending’ nuclear tests isn’t some altruistic move on their part …or a matter of buying into the ‘promise’ of planned talks etc.

It is more an indication that they’re not only pleased, but pretty confident in what they’ve already amassed and …and feeling pretty secure with their nuclear arsenal..

Doesn’t hurt that they are tied to Russia, and as usual, Vlad is calling a lot of the shots, and playing all his puppets for his short-term purposes ..

From Silverman at BJ about why folks in the WH were frantic about Flynn:

    Adam L Silverman says:
    April 20, 2018 at 2:15 pm

@Kay: And shortly after that Nunes freaks out over unmasking. Here’s what is really going on with this: the DOJ had gotten a FISA warrant for Flynn. And they’d had it for the back half of 2016 including the transition. So everyone Flynn spoke to or emailed with or texted in that time, as well as what was discussed, emailed, or texted, is in the hands of the FBI and now the Special Counsel’s Office. A masking team would have gone through and redacted the names of any Americans not subject to FISA surveillance who were either mentioned in Flynn’s phone calls, emails, and/or texts or who he was calling, emailing, or texting. So they would appear as American 1 or Congressman 2 or what have you. If, when the investigators reviewed these materials it became clear that in order to make sense of a discussion or email or text message exchange they needed to know who American 1 is, they would have then made an unmasking request. This would have been reviewed and either granted or denied. Everything that Flynn said and/or emailed and/or texted to everyone, and I repeat EVERYONE!!!!!, who Flynn called, emailed, and/or texted during the time that the FISA warrant was in effect, or who called, emailed, and/or texted Flynn and what they said, emailed, and/or texted to him, has their information in the hands of the Special Counsel’s Office.

This is why Nunes freaked out. This is why others in the White House freaked out. This is why others outside the White House freaked out about unmasking shortly after Preibus asked Comey about whether their was a FISA warrant on Flynn.

    “Introduction
    https://www.nps.gov/archeology/sites/npsites/images/nico1.jpg
[The townspeople of Nicodemus (LOC photo) ]

“Fleeing from new forms of oppression that were emerging in the post-Reconstruction Era South, a group of African American settlers established the community of Nicodemus on the windswept plains of Kansas in 1877. Here they began turning the dense sod, building homes and businesses, and forging new lives for themselves. Established as an all Black community, the founders of Nicodemus envisioned a town built on the ideals of independence and self-determination. The community experienced rapid social and economic growth in the early years and many speculated that Nicodemus would become a major stop for the railroad. It became clear by 1888, however, that the railroad and the predicted economic boom would not come. This did not mark the end of the great experiment that was Nicodemus. Although the population of the town itself dwindled to only a few dozen souls, many African American families stayed in the area, settling on farms in the surrounding township. From this time onward Nicodemus became a community of primarily Black farm families. This living community is the only remaining all Black town west of the Mississippi River that was settled in the 1800s on the western plains by former slaves.

“The U.S. Congress, recognizing the importance of Nicodemus’ contribution to America’s history, enacted legislation establishing Nicodemus NHS as a unit of the NPS in November 1996. The legislation directs the NPS to cooperate with the people of Nicodemus to preserve its five remaining historic structures—First Baptist Church, African Methodist Episcopal Church, St. Francis Hotel, the First District School, and Nicodemus Township Hall, and keep alive the memory of the many roles African-Americans played throughout the American West. ”

These free slaves traveled from Kentucky to Kansas to begin a legacy that has been passed on from generation to generation. Today hundreds of descendants return home every year to the Annual Homecoming Celebration to honor the ancestors of this National Historical Site of American history.

Democratic Party files lawsuit alleging Russia, the Trump campaign and WikiLeaks conspired to disrupt the 2016 campaign

The Democratic National Committee filed a multimillion-dollar lawsuit Friday against the Russian government, the Trump campaign and the WikiLeaks organization alleging a far-reaching conspiracy to disrupt the 2016 campaign and tilt the election to Donald Trump.

The complaint, filed in federal district court in Manhattan, alleges that top Trump campaign officials conspired with the Russian government and its military spy agency to hurt Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and help Trump by hacking the computer networks of the Democratic Party and disseminating stolen material found there.

“During the 2016 presidential campaign, Russia launched an all-out assault on our democracy, and it found a willing and active partner in Donald Trump’s campaign,” DNC Chairman Tom Perez said in a statement.

“This constituted an act of unprecedented treachery: the campaign of a nominee for President of the United States in league with a hostile foreign power to bolster its own chance to win the presidency,” he said.

Republican tax plan delivers massive rewards for Wall Street
    04/20/18 10:50 AM
    By Steve Benen

If you were one of those Americans who argued last year, “Wall Street giants deserve a massive tax break because they don’t appear to have nearly enough money,” the Associated Press had some news today that should make you feel much better.

An analysis by The Associated Press shows the nation’s six big Wall Street banks saved at least $3.59 billion in taxes last quarter, thanks to the recently enacted Trump tax law.

Banks typically kick off the earnings season, and their reports for the January-March quarter are giving investors and the public their first glimpse into how the new tax law is impacting Corporate America. Banks historically paid some of the highest taxes, due to their U.S.-centric business model. Before the Trump tax cuts, these banks paid between 28 to 31 percent of their income each year in corporate taxes.

The results show why banks supported the tax overhaul. Tax rates at banks such as JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley dropped to between 17 and 23 percent.

Greitens’ Refusal To Resign Is Dragging Entire Missouri GOP Down
    By Allegra Kirkland | April 20, 2018 6:00 am

t’s been over four months since the world learned that Missouri’s governor allegedly tied a woman up in his basement, took a nude photo of her without consent, and threatened to release it publicly. Two months since he was indicted on a felony invasion of privacy charge for that incident. A week since the woman’s graphic version of the 2015 events — including the claim that he pressured her into a sex act while she sobbed on the floor — was released in disturbing public testimony. And days since Missouri’s top leadership told him to resign following news that he may face an unrelated felony charge for matters involving a charity he founded.

But Eric Greitens is still sitting in the governor’s mansion in Jefferson City, with no plans to step down. The Republican governor admits he had an affair but insists he committed no crime, and that he’ll be vindicated in court.

But the Missouri GOP sees things differently: Increasingly, it views Greitens as an anchor, defiantly dragging the entire state party down with him.

Pence Mocks Raul Castro After Election: ‘Looks Like You’re The One Leaving’
    By Associated Press | April 20, 2018 6:55 am

HAVANA (AP) — Vice President Mike Pence is responding to outgoing Cuban leader Raul Castro, telling him on Twitter that “we’re here standing with the Cuban people.”

Pence tweeted in response to a quote from Castro, who said Pence “couldn’t take it and left” during his appearance last weekend at an international summit in Peru.

Pence responds, “looks like you’re the one leaving,” and says the U.S. won’t rest until Cuba “has free & fair elections, political prisoners are released & the people of Cuba are finally free! (hashtag)CubaLibre”

The vice president walked out of the Summit of the Americas when Cuba’s foreign minister was recognized to speak after him. Pence slammed Cuba as a “tired communist regime” in his speech.

Rubio’s argument on presidential ‘deference’ starts to unravel
    04/20/18 10:25 AM
    By Steve Benen
    ……………………………….
And then Rubio changed his mind and helped confirm Bridenstine to the post. Yesterday on the Senate floor, he explained why.

“My view of it is … that we give great deference to the president on choosing qualifications. It is my view that, the more important the job, the more discretion the president deserves.”

This is a terrible argument. The more important a position, the more the Senate should rubber-stamp a president’s nominee? The significance of the Senate’s advise-and-consent role is diminished when members are considering nominees of great import? All of this seems entirely backwards.

In fact, at a certain level, Rubio knows how absurd this is – because he made the opposite argument last year:

“My view is that the president deserves wide latitude in their nominations, but the more important the position is, the less latitude they have.”

Complicating matters, of course, is the fact that Rubio reflexively opposed many of Barack Obama’s nominees for cabinet and other high-ranking posts – even when the Floridian knew they’d be confirmed anyway – because he had no interest in presidential “deference” or “discretion.”

It’s almost as if Rubio’s principles are malleable and easily put aside for the sake of partisan convenience.

Cruz tries to sing the praises of the president who bullied him
    04/20/18 09:23 AM—UPDATED 04/20/18 09:31 AM
    By Steve Benen

Sen. Ted Cruz’s (R-Texas) relationship with Donald Trump has been difficult at times. After all, Trump has gone after Cruz’s wife and suggested Cruz’s father played a role in the JFK assassination.

For his part, the Republican senator has told Americans that Trump is a “pathological liar,” a “bully,” a “narcissist,” “utterly amoral,” and my personal favorite, a “sniveling coward.”

It was therefore of interest when Time magazine named the president one of the most influential people of the year, and the editors turned to Cruz to sing Trump’s praises. This is what the Texan came up with:

President Trump is a flash-bang grenade thrown into Washington by the forgotten men and women of America. The fact that his first year as Commander in Chief disoriented and distressed members of the media and political establishment is not a bug but a feature.

The same cultural safe spaces that blinkered coastal elites to candidate Trump’s popularity have rendered them blind to President Trump’s achievements on behalf of ordinary Americans. While pundits obsessed over tweets, he worked with Congress to cut taxes for struggling families. While wealthy celebrities announced that they would flee the country, he fought to bring back jobs and industries to our shores. While talking heads predicted Armageddon, President Trump’s strong stand against North Korea put Kim Jong Un back on his heels.

President Trump is doing what he was elected to do: disrupt the status quo. That scares the heck out of those who have controlled Washington for decades, but for millions of Americans, their confusion is great fun to watch.
