Thursday Open Thread | Comey: I’m “embarrassed and ashamed” by the Republican party

Former FBI Director James Comey said Wednesday he’s “embarrassed and ashamed” by the Republican Party, arguing the party is willing to sacrifice its values to earn legislative wins.

Comey said he was first attracted to the Republican Party because it valued character above all else, and placed an emphasis on national defense.

“My question for Republicans is, so, where is that? Where is that commitment to character and values,” Comey said during a CNN town hall event. “And if people have convinced themselves we’ll trade it temporarily for a tax cut or Supreme Court justice, that’s a fool’s bargain.”

“What I hope they’ll do is ask themselves, Republicans, ‘so what will I tell my grandchildren when they ask me so what did you do?’” Comey continued. “Did you trade a tax cut for the rule of law?”
Comey has spent the last couple weeks railing against President Trump, and at times the Republican Party, as he makes the rounds on national media outlets to promote his new book. He previously said the GOP has alienated voters like him by condoning Trump’s rhetoric.

The former FBI director has argued Trump is morally unfit to be president, and suggested the president may be compromised by Russians.

Trump has fired back, calling Comey and “liar & leaker” and claiming he broke the law by releasing classified information.

I read that the organizers expected about 10K and actual turnout is more like 75K.

But I’m not surprised. The teachers in Arizona are fed up with the sorry ass Republican dominated legislature that starves education in this state.

A few years ago, I used to visit Joy Reid’s blog everyday. I don’t recall seeing one article she published that disparaged LGBTQ persons. Not one. This is some cooked up sh*t being pushed to remove her from the airwaves. Why? Because Joy is very smart and well prepared when anyone shows up on her program, and of course, she’s a black female, and there are millions in America who don’t think she should have the status that she’s earned. Yes, she earned it through hard work, and some just can’t stand it, so their solution is to create negative info and claim she wrote it when she didn’t.

  1. Their dumb asses think yelling “fake news” is going to work. In my best southern drawl, they’re “fixing” to get a wake up call.

I found this video of Avenatti at another blog. Along with this commentary. If true…DAMN!

“So, Mika, you are familiar with the fact that a week ago, Judge (Kimba) Wood ordered Michael Cohen’s attorneys to disclose all of his clients for the last three years,” Avenatti said, “and there were three clients listed — three clients listed. Do you recall which three?”

Brzezinski listed Trump, Fox News host Sean Hannity and Republican donor Elliott Broidy — but Avenatti said she was making the same mistake everyone else had.

“No, no, no,” he said. “Mr. Trump, the Trump organization and Sean Hannity. Mr. Broidy was not disclosed in open court as one of Michael Cohen’s clients.

Co-host Joe Scarborough asked the attorney what that meant.

“I think at some point we are going to find out, if in fact, the client in connection with the ($1.6 million) settlement was, in fact, Mr. Broidy. I’m going to leave it at that.”

I’m convinced that Comey lives in the Twilight Zone where he and his cronies think they are pillars of morality.

Okay, so he should be a good witness against Trump. But I can do without his elevating himself above the rest of mankind.

All I have to say to Comey is STFU, sucker. He went right along with the GOP program as long as he could benefit from it. He was fired by a president who is a member of his own party. As far as I’m concerned, I’m not the least bit interested in whatever he has to say about the monsters he helped to create.

And there is NO GOOD REASON for what he did to Hillary Clinton and the Democrats just before the election.
