        Of course it’s not.
        – It would have been just for law enforcement to prevent the avoidable assault …
        – And for DeAndre (the victim) never to have been charged
        – And to charge men at a hate rally, launching violent hateful attacks, while using hate speech…
        with A HATE CRIME!

        @MeritLaw
It’s not justice … but it’s pretty damn close.

        @MeritLaw
Throw in it would have been just for these criminals to be hunted down by our sophisticated criminal justice system (used mostly to monitor the activities of POC) instead of @ShaunKing & a handful of Internet sleuths.

        @MeritLaw
But if its a shock to us, imagine what it’s like for the racist 🤯! They’re using all the arguments.

‘He was a big scary black guy’

        ‘We feared for our lives’

        It just isn’t working.

Baltimore student accepted to all 8 Ivy League schools makes his decision
    Talia Richman

The Baltimore student who was accepted into all eight Ivy League schools has made his decision.

“Harvard College Class of 2022!!” Mekhi Johnson posted to Facebook on May 1, college decision day.

Johnson, a senior at the Gilman School, is one of just a handful of students across the nation to be accepted into all eight of the elite institutions. He’s been working toward that accomplishment since he was 6 years old, when he first heard a story on the radio about a boy who had gotten in to all of the Ivies.

“Even at 6, he was pretty serious and goal-oriented,” his mother, Tawana Thomas Johnson, previously said. “He kept this idea in front of him through all those years.”

Johnson said he found out about his slew of acceptances while out to dinner with his mother at Red Lobster.

He checked his admissions status at each school in quick succession: Yale, in. Columbia, in. Cornell, in. And then finally, Harvard.

“As soon as I saw I got into Harvard, my mom started screaming,” the 17-year-old Baltimore student told The Baltimore Sun in March. “She started yelling, ‘My son just got into Harvard,’ and everyone in the restaurant started clapping.”

To get a warrant to wiretap Michael Cohen’s phone conversations, the FBI had to comply with highly stringent rules and standards laid down by SCOTUS in Katz v. US, 389 U.S. 347 (1967), in an opinion I helped Justice Stewart draft for the Court as his law clerk.

    — Laurence Tribe (@tribelaw) May 3, 2018

Giuliani claims that Trump had a right to be notified if and when the wiretap on Cohen picked up a conversation with Trump. That’s wrong. Such notification would have been wrong — and potentially a criminal obstruction of justice insofar as it would have blown the FBI’s cover.

so….Sweden did the Cultural Appropriation thing…LOL

Turks have reacted with undisguised glee to what many have described as an official – and certainly long overdue – confession from Stockholm that Sweden’s signature national dish is, in fact, Turkish.

“Those famous Swedish meatballs you get in Ikea are actually Turkish, admits Swedish government,” tweeted TRT World, Turkey’s publicly funded international television news channel.

“Swedish meatballs originally Turkish dish: Swedish government,” said the headline in Hürriyet Daily News, after Sweden’s official national Twitter account, @swedense, came clean last weekend.

“Swedish meatballs are actually based on a recipe King Charles XII brought home from Turkey in the early 18th century,” the Swedish account revealed abruptly and for no immediately apparent reason. “Let’s stick to the facts!”

    DA PHUQ?

Donald Trump has spoken with former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski about replacing chief of staff John Kelly, Fox News’ Howard Kurtz reports.

There are “growing whispers” that the job would go to Lewandowski, who was charged with battery during the campaign after he allegedly grabbed Breitbart News reporter Michelle Fields by the arm to prevent her from asking Trump a question.

The Cars’ Ric Ocasek and Paulina Porizkova ‘peacefully separated’

The 28-year-old marriage between Cars’ frontman Ric Ocasek and former supermodel Paulina Porizkova has broken down.

Using lots of car imagery, Porizkova announced on social media Wednesday that she and her husband have been “peacefully separated for the past year.”
“Our family always has been — and still is — a well-built car,” Porizkova wrote in a photo posted on Instagram. “When the four of us are together, we can go wherever the road takes us. But as a bicycle, my husband and I no longer pedal in unison. So, we’re ditching the bicycle.”

Paul Ryan Warns of Subpoenas, Gridlock With Democratic Majority
By Anna Edgerton and Lisa Lee
    May 2, 2018, 12:14 PM CDT

House Speaker Paul Ryan warned that Democratic gains in November’s congressional elections could make it impossible to get anything accomplished and expose President Donald Trump’s administration to more aggressive oversight.

Should Republicans lose control of either the House or Senate, “you’ll have gridlock, you’ll have subpoenas,” with the whole legislative system “shutting down,” Ryan said Wednesday in Beverly Hills, California, at the annual Milken Institute Global Conference.

    Condoleezza Rice defends Kanye West
    05/02/2018, 07:04pm
    USA TODAY Network

Former secretary of State Condoleezza Rice stood up for Kanye West’s right to express himself amid a backlash against the musician’s recent comments in support of President Trump and a controversial statement that implied African-Americans made a “choice” to suffer 400 years of slavery.

Fox Business’ Maria Bartiromo asked Rice what she thought, “as a successful woman of color,” of the pushback against West’s remarks in an interview Wednesday.

“First of all, I haven’t spent a lot of time thinking about it,” Rice told the Mornings with Maria host. “But I can say, people ought to be able to express their views. Not all of us have to think politically the same way. I’ve said to people sometimes, ‘You know, I’ve been black all my life. You don’t have to tell me how to be black.’”

Chicago State announces 3 finalists for president
    Ashlee Rezin/Sun-Times
    Associated Press

CHICAGO (AP) — Chicago State University has narrowed its search for a new president to three finalists.

University officials say the finalists are Zaldwaynaka Scott, a former federal prosecutor; Patricia Ramsey, provost at Lincoln University in Pennsylvania; and Heidi Anderson, special assistant to the president at Texas A & M in Kingsville were chosen from among about 50 applicants. The final choice would be the fifth president or interim president since December 2015.

Board of trustees’ vice chairman Nicholas Gowen says the goal is for the new president to start July 1. Interim President Rachel Lindsey, who took over in April 2017, had her one-year contract extended until June 30.

In addition to uncertain leadership, the 151-year-old university is battling fiscal issues and enrollment that’s declined from 7,362 students in 2010 to 3,101 last fall.

Giuliani sheds new light on Trump’s decision to fire James Comey
    05/03/18 08:40 AM—UPDATED 05/03/18 10:16 AM
    By Steve Benen

One of the most important decisions Donald Trump has made as president was firing James Comey as the director of the FBI a year ago this week. It was the first domino in a series of developments that has put the Republican’s presidency in jeopardy.

Rudy Giuliani, the former New York City mayor who’s now a member of Trump’s legal team, told Fox News last night why the president made this decision.

“He fired Comey because Comey would not, among other things, say that he wasn’t a target of the investigation. He’s entitled to that. Hillary Clinton got that and he couldn’t get that. So he fired him and he said, ‘I’m free of this guy.’”

As a rule, when a group of people, in the midst of a scandal, repeatedly change their story about basic details, something is amiss.
