Trump is hated around the world……

(CNN)Protests were already underway in Helsinki on Sunday as President Donald Trump left Scotland, bound for the Finnish capital ahead of his Monday meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Sunday’s demonstrations capped a weekend in which the US president drew protests no matter where he went — whether in Finland, in London or even at his own golf resort in Turnberry, Scotland.

Finnish Demonstrators gathered for a colorful and peaceful protest in Senate Square in central Helsinki, carrying signs, giving speeches and making their opposition known to the US-Russia summit.

“USA & Russia, you did not send your best,” read Hammu Jaakkola’s sign. “You sent leaders that have lots of problems. They’re bringing crimes against humanity.” The sign added, “Some of you, I assume, are good people” — a reference to Trump’s disparaging comments about Mexican immigrants.

Protesters carried signs in Senate Square, protesting the policies of Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin.
Niina, 27, and Semmi, 21, brought with them a sign of Trump’s face inside the triangular recycling logo. “Please recycle,” it said. “He is dangerous for the environment and for all of us.”

The women, who did not give their last names, showed up to the protests to “have their voices heard,” they told CNN.

“Trump and Putin don’t represent what we in Finland stand for,” Niina said. “All people in Finland are free.”

    Power is one of those shows that is must-see television for me. I’ve been waiting all year for its return so my nephew and I can get back to our after-show debates and commiserate on what shenanigans just ensued. I love the show.

    But I must admit, I have a more nefarious reason for watching the show: I literally cannot wait for every single main character to die. Which is why news that season 5 will be like Vivian Green’s emotional rollercoaster brings tears of joy to my eyes and butterflies to my soul. According to show creator Courtney Kemp, “There are going to be huge deaths and big twists. What happened to Raina is going to reverberate throughout the season.”

    Glory day. Hosanna in the highest.

    Like, after every.single.episode, I get upset that Angela is still alive. She should have been dead seasons ago. And Tariq … oh, Tariq. If there was a spinoff of Power called Killing Angela and Tariq that was an Inside the Actor’s Studio-type show, where different writers and industry insiders talk about how they would have had them both killed, I’d watch it religiously. That’s how in I am for either of them dying.

    1. I didn’t realize I could care so much about somebody I didn’t know or who didn’t even exist in real life. Every. Damn. Time. (spoiler alert) When Ricky gets hit with that first shot, my heart skips a beat and my eyes start to well up. I’m not even sure it’s healthy or not, but I still pour out some brown liquor for Ricky. The movie basically set me up for Mufasa’s death in The Lion King.

    7. Ricky’s death is easily the most heart-wrenching point of the film. But there are two other scenes that hit me hard. First, Doughboy killing Ferris in the parking lot with pain and tears in his eyes is a very moving scene. Dough didn’t know anything else to do but take the man’s life that destroyed his brother’s and yet, he seemed so helpless even in the violence he was inflicting. It’s deep. And second, after Dough and Trey sit on the steps and talk, Doughboy walks off and fades out as we find out that he was killed two weeks later. All I could think of was Dough and Ricky’s mother, burying both of her sons within two weeks of one another. That’s some sad shit.

    The Trump-Bolton Misdirection on Russian Extradition: Plenty of Legal Options Exist to Gain Custody of Russian Suspects

    On Sunday, President Donald Trump stated he “hadn’t thought of” pressing Vladimir Putin to extradite the dozen Russian nationals indicted earlier that week by Special Counsel Robert Mueller. When asked why not, National Security Adviser John Bolton gave a response that sounded legalistic: it would be “pretty silly” for President Trump to request the Russian fugitives’ extradition, he contended, because the United States lacks an extradition treaty with Russia and Russian law forbids extradition of its own nationals. Both should know better. Their comments suggest not that the Administration lacks legal options, but that it has no political will to seriously seek custody of the Russian fugitives.

    Trump and Bolton’s comments fail—perhaps deliberately—to acknowledge the myriad legal options typically available to the U.S. government in what I call “foreign affairs prosecutions,” or criminal cases in which the executive branch is engaging its prosecutorial power and foreign affairs power at the same time. Such cases have proliferated in recent years due to the rise of transnational crime, which has in turn triggered legal adaptations to U.S. criminal law and procedure to close impunity gaps. Examples include the cases of corrupt FIFA officials, Mexican drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman Loera, and Edward Snowden.

    There are exactly two possible explanations for the shameful performance the world witnessed on Monday, from a serving American president.

    Either Donald Trump is flat-out an agent of Russian interests—witting, unwitting, from fear of blackmail, in hope of future deals, out of manly respect for Vladimir Putin, out of gratitude for Russia’s help during the election, out of pathetic inability to see beyond his 306 electoral votes. Whatever the exact mixture of motives might be, it doesn’t really matter.

    Or he is so profoundly ignorant, insecure, and narcissistic that he did not realize that, at every step, he was advancing the line that Putin hoped he would advance, and the line that the American intelligence, defense, and law-enforcement agencies most dreaded.

    Conscious tool. Useful idiot. Those are the choices, though both are possibly true—the main question is the proportions.

    Whatever the balance of motivations, what mattered was that Trump’s answers were indistinguishable from Putin’s, starting with the fundamental claim that Putin’s assurances about interference in U.S. democracy (“He was incredibly strong and confident in his denial”) deserved belief over those of his own Department of Justice (“I think the probe is a disaster for our country”).

    I am old enough to remember Lyndon Johnson and Richard Nixon telling lies on TV, about Vietnam in both cases, and Watergate for Nixon. I remember the travails and deceptions of Bill Clinton, and of George W. Bush in the buildup to the disastrous Iraq War.

    But never before have I seen an American president consistently, repeatedly, publicly, and shockingly advance the interests of another country over those of his own government and people.

    President Donald Trump is going into his much-anticipated meeting with Russian president Vladimir Putin on Monday having called the European Union “a foe” of the United States and with the promise that nothing bad will come from the discussion.

    “I think we have a lot of foes,” Trump told CBS Evening News in a segment of an interview that first aired on “Face the Nation.” “I think the European Union is a foe, what they do to us in trade. Now you wouldn’t think of the European Union, but they’re a foe.”

    As part of the same response, the American president added, “Russia is foe in certain respects. China is a foe economically, certainly they are a foe. But that doesn’t mean they are bad.”

    So, asked to name the United States’ “biggest” international foe, the European Union – which is to say, our allies – was the first thing that came to Trump’s mind. Russia and China came next, though the Republican’s comments about them came with qualifiers.

    After traveling to Moscow over the 4th of July holiday, Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) – the chairman of the Senate Homeland Security Committee, who also chairs a Senate Foreign Relations panel – came back with some unexpectedly provocative thoughts about U.S. policy toward Russia.

    For example, the Wisconsin Republican questioned the efficacy of existing sanctions, before insisting that concerns about foreign interference in American elections has been blown “way out of proportion.”

    Johnson’s comments looked a little worse when, a week later, 12 Russian intelligence officials were indicted for their role in attacking our political system in 2016.

    But at least Johnson can argue he hadn’t seen the new indictment when he made his recent comments – which is more than we can say about Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), who waited until after the indictment to make the case that the attack on our elections was no big deal. The Kentucky Republican, who also serves on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, told CNN’s Jake Tapper yesterday, “We all do it.”

    “I think really we mistake our response if we think it’s about accountability from the Russians. They are another country. They are going to spy on us. The do spy on us. They are going to interfere in our elections. We also do the same.”

    Wisconsin Republican Senate candidate Kevin Nicholson on Monday penned an angry editorial for Fox News in which he bitterly complained that his parents, who are two lifelong Democrats, are refusing to endorse his campaign.

    Nicholson, who is running against incumbent Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) this fall, wrote that his parents’ decision to support Baldwin over their own son was emblematic of liberals’ supposed “intolerance” for dissenting viewpoints.

    The candidate seemed particularly upset that his parents not only endorsed Baldwin, but sent the maximum allowable donation to her campaign.

    “They decided to make the maximum contribution to my Democrat opponent in my campaign for U.S. Senate in Wisconsin, an intentional personal blow that made headlines across the country,” he complained. “It was deliberate — and it is a true representation of the intolerance of a political philosophy that stands on the false platform of tolerance.”

    Nicholson went on to claim that he does not “enjoy talking about this highly personal experience,” despite the fact that he wrote an entire op-ed for Fox News about it. He says that he decided to talk about what has happened to him as a way to let other supposedly wary Democrats know that it’s OK for them to leave the party.

    “Many others who have decided to leave the Democrat Party have also likely paid a personal price for their decision,” he wrote. “And others are not yet ready to leave because of the judgement and ridicule they will undoubtedly receive from other Democrats — whether family, friends, or co-workers. Unfortunately, their fear is founded.”

    …none of this is fine. None of it! Trump should be directing all resources at his disposal to punish Russia for the attacks and prevent future ones. But he is not.
    America’s commander wants to be chummy with the enemy who committed the crime. Trump is more concerned with protecting his presidency and validating his election than he is in protecting this country.

    This is an incredible, unprecedented moment. America is being betrayed by its own president. America is under attack and its president absolutely refuses to defend it.

    Simply put, Trump is a traitor and may well be treasonous.

    The case for treason

    Article III, Section 3 of the Constitution details the legal definition for treason against the United States.

    Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort. No person shall be convicted of treason unless on the testimony of two witnesses to the same overt act, or on confession in open court.

    On Friday, July 13, 2018, Special Counsel Robert S. Mueller III and Assistant Attorney General Rod Rosenstein released indictments against twelve Russian military intelligence officers. The indictments accused them of being behind the cyber attacks on the DNC, DCCC, and Clinton campaign. The indictments also detailed that voter rolls were hacked. Furthermore, and important for this discussion, the indictments state that Americans were involved with these officers as being beneficiaries of their actions. One can surmise that their indictments will be arriving anon. In indicting the Russians first, Mueller is laying the legal groundwork for charging American co-conspirators.

    The fact that this was a GRU (Russian military intelligence) operation is the key to determining whether or not this is treason.

    An arm of a foreign nation’s military attacked the United States. It didn’t attack it with bombs, or guns, or ships. It attacked the United States with bits and bytes, with malware, with phishing expeditions. But it was an attack, nevertheless.

    In his bid to restore Russian prestige, Vladimir Putin has been involved in an undeclared war against the West. It’s an asymmetric war. Putin isn’t suicidal; he doesn’t want to test the West’s military might. What he does instead is use the tools the West created against it. He uses the West’s openness and liberal democracy to undermine it. And as the West’s leader, the United States is his prime target.

    But those who actively conspired with Putin are not idiots. They did so with full awareness of what they were doing. They sided with a foreign power against their own country. Politically and morally they are traitors. And as we are in an undeclared, ghost war against Russia, then they should be held legally accountable for treason.

    Russia’s American co-conspirators are levying war against the United States. They are giving aid and comfort to an enemy. And the indictments are the testimony.

    What Bob Mueller did today was begin to lay out the case for treason. Not for obstruction of justice, not for mere conspiracy. The Russian military conducted a cyber attack against this country. Our cities aren’t in ruin. But something equally as precious is under threat: the idea of who we are as Americans. That can be just as destructive.

      But those who actively conspired with Putin are not idiots. They did so with full awareness of what they were doing. They sided with a foreign power against their own country. Politically and morally they are traitors. And as we are in an undeclared, ghost war against Russia, then they should be held legally accountable for treason.
