Tuesday Open Thread | A President Subservient to a Hostile Foreign Power

I was watching AM Joy this weekend, and one of her guests had absolutely the right idea:

We CAN NEVER ALLOW THE NORMALIZATION OF THE TREASON THAT WE SAW IN HELSINKI.

We simply can’t.

STOP giving Dolt45 the benefit of the doubt.
He hasn’t earned it. Ever.
The revelation that Dolt45 was given SMOKING GUN PROOF of Putin ordering the attack on the November 2016 Election – TWO WEEKS BEFORE THE INAUGURATION

Puts, plain and simple, the lying and outright TREASON against the United States that he has done everytime he’s opened his mouth to cast doubts on the Intelligence Community’s evaluation of the attack on this country by Russia during the 2016 Election season.

 

Now that we know that he wasn’t just given some ‘ this is our best guess’ report by the CIA, but SMOKING GUN EVIDENCE..

It also explains why so much of the IC has had their hair on fire since November 2016.

As folks have pointed out…there is the great likelihood that those informants who helped us get this information were betrayed by this White House, telling them information that they shouldn’t have, just like they did on the Israeli’s when the Russian Ambassador was invited into the Oval Office.

Why is this harmful to us, and why folks like myself have ALWAYS understood that the very safety of the United States is at risk, as long as we have TRAITORS IN THE WHITE HOUSE?

Because, we don’t stay safe because we’re the United States. We stay safe because of those alliances, and those alliances include IC alliances.

So, yes, what happens when our allies believe that they can’t trust America? The world becomes a more dangerous place for Americans.

As I mentioned yesterday, the biggest impact of the Helsinki Summit is a lot of the serious people, the big wigs, starting to think, “yeah, Putin must have something over Trump. Something just does not add up about any of this.” Even President Trump’s intel chief Dan Coats seemed to be feeling the ground moving under his feet yesterday.

There’s another dimension of this though. When the full story comes out, to the extent it ever does, how are people going to explain how all these bizarre and really inexplicable things were happening and they just said, “Well, he’s got an odd style.” Or “He just doesn’t like people questioning his epic election win.”

That doesn’t remotely make sense now and it will seem willfully oblivious later. Obviously for most of us who are mere observers it doesn’t matter that much. But many others aren’t just observers. They had power to act.

    Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Tuesday chuckled along as a group of high school students he spoke to chanted “lock her up.”

    The chant, a reference among President Trump’s supporters to Hillary Clinton, began after Sessions lamented the spread of “trigger warnings” and “safe spaces” on college campuses around the country during remarks at Turning Point USA’s High School Leadership Summit in Washington, D.C., where hundreds of high school students were in attendance.

    Sessions reacted with approval after the crowd jeered examples of schools that have offered therapy dogs and coloring books to help students cope with stress.

    “I like this bunch,” Sessions said. “You’re not going to be backing down. Go get ‘em.”

    Earlier this month, Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine), a pro-choice Republican, told the New York Times that Americans are roughly divided equally on the issue of reproductive rights. The Maine senator said it’s “something like a 51-49” issue.

    Two weeks later, during Donald Trump’s trip to the U.K., someone asked the president whether he can understand why American women are concerned about the future of the Roe v. Wade precedent, given Republican efforts to push the Supreme Court further to the right. “I do understand,” Trump said, “but I also understand that you know, that’s a 50/50 question in this country.”

    Collins and Trump were both very wrong about public attitudes on the subject.

    As President Donald Trump’s Supreme Court pick readies for his eventual confirmation hearing, support for the court’s landmark ruling in Roe v. Wade has hit an all-time high.

    A new poll from NBC News and the Wall Street Journal finds that 71 percent of American voters believe that the decision, which established a woman’s legal right to an abortion, should not be overturned. Just 23 percent say the ruling should be reversed.

    That’s the highest level of support for the decision – and the lowest share of voters who want Roe v. Wade overturned – in the poll’s history dating back to 2005.

    Donald Trump and his legal defense team still haven’t agreed to answer Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s questions, despite months of back-and-forth negotiations. A Washington Post report noted two weeks ago that the talks “have been at an impasse” since March, in part because the president’s lawyers are worried about what Trump might say about obstruction of justice.

    With this in mind, the Wall Street Journal reported overnight that the president’s attorneys have “submitted a counteroffer” to the special counsel’s team: Trump might be willing to sit down for an interview, but only if investigators agreed in advance not to ask questions about some of the things the president may have done wrong.

    President Donald Trump’s legal team has submitted a counteroffer to special counsel Robert Mueller on a possible interview with the president that could allow for questions about collusion with Russia but curtail inquiries related to obstruction of justice. […]

    The president’s legal team is open to him answering questions about possible collusion with Moscow, [Rudy Giuliani] said, but is less willing to have Mr. Trump discuss questions about obstruction of justice. “We think the obstruction of it is handled by Article 2 of the Constitution,” Mr. Giuliani said, referring to the provision that gives the president executive authority to appoint and dismiss members of his administration.

        My baby Penelope would run to me the same way Baby Boy ran to his real owner if someone took her and the issue had to be resolved in court. My baby gets fresh cut chicken every night @ 7PM. If I’m too slow/late cutting her chicken, she gets right in my face and stares at me to remind me to do it. She’s a mess, but she’s my buddy, especially my riding-in-the-car buddy. She loves to ride in the car because every time we do, she gets a shredded cheddar cheese snack.

        I’m wondering if my border collie Shannon would run to me or my husband. I know I’m the favorite, but she likes him too and I think she respects him more.

        But in this case it appears that the little dog really prefers her dad. It’s cute too, I love to see big guys with little fluff ball dogs.
