Wednesday Open Thread | Omarosa……

Omarosa Manigault Newman appears on the TODAY show on August 18, 2018.

I didn’t really know if I was going to do a post on Omarosa Manigault-Newman, but here we are.

As a Black woman, I will give my opinion about Omarosa.
Goes way back to her time on The Apprentice, and her sabotaging that qualified Brotha that made it to the finals. He took a chance on her, and she stabbed him in the back. That impression of Omarosa has never left. and, she has.done nothing to change my opinion of her.

That said, watching this is hilarious.
The only person in the White House who actually took Omarosa seriously is Dolt45. The rest of them didn’t grasp her.

They are used to a certain type of Black person. You have the ones who want to.be deemed the special ones, and they parrot all the GOP talking points. They show up on Fox News. They will even form their lips to attack 44 and Forever FLOTUS 😍 😍.

Their names-Crystal Wright, Stacey Dash, that slave catcher pastor that Joy Reid kicked off her show. Cubic and Zerconia. The latest one is Candace Owens.

Then, you have the sort of old time GOPers who drank the Kool aid and want to be invited to the parties. This is the Armstrong Williams, Michael Steele, Ben Carson..

And,then there is Omarosa. She doesn’t have an allegiance to a political philosophy. She has an allegiance to Omarosa. For all her tv appearances, you didn’t see her out there trying to shill GOP swill.

She was smart enough to keep 44 and Forever FLOTUS 😍 😍 out her mouth.

For all the talk of distancing herself from the Black community…taping them was straight up.Black Professional Sensibilities.

Omarosa did none of the heavy lifting of the other Black GOP Pundits, but wound up with the job in the White House-doing Nothing.

And, always had a Plan B in place.

There is nothing that she’s saying that you don’t believe. Nothing that sounds outrageous. So, the MSM can miss me, trying to put Omarosa in a whole other category from other folks in that White House. Outside of his own family, who in that White House, has had more interactions for as long as Omarosa has. They’ve been in one another’s orbit, for what, 14 years?

The MSM, especially those interested in writing their own.books which justifies their ‘access journalism’, are coming down on her because she is like Michael Wolff. She doesn’t give a shyt about the parties. She wants to GET PAID.

We have a President that routinely goes around talking on unsecure phones, and I am supposed to give two shyts about Omarosa taping folks?
Really?

I will be blunt:
She👏is👏that👏 BYTCH 👏

And, it’s amusing to watch the part of the MSM who doesn’t get that.

They think that they can police her? That, they can tear down her credibility with shame?
She has no shame, Dear.

And, just because I am no fan of hers, doesn’t mean that I won’t step up and call out the foolishness.
Look at this mess.

Physically intimidated?
Da phuq?

So now, the part of the Big, Black Brute will be played by a woman?

I chose the picture up top for a reason. That’s Omarosa with Savannah Guthrie.

Omarosa is a svelte and physically fit woman.
But, she is a dark-skinned Black woman in America who knows the game.

She has two degrees.
WHY is she on television in that very feminine Yellow dress?

Cause, she knows that the first thing that can happen to a Black woman is that the enemy will try to dehumanize her- try and take away her femininity.

Their is nothing about Omarosa that says masculine. She wears her hair perfectly coiffed, her makeup is flawless, her jewelry simple and classic, and that dress was feminine, not professional, but feminine.
She saw them coming a mile away.😒

Like I said before…

I have seen Black person upon Black person say the following:

” I have no use for Omarosa. She’s still not invited to the cookout. But, that doesn’t mean that I can’t sit, with my beverage and popcorn and watch her gather up these folks. ”

That’s me.

The most important words that she’s uttered since all this began?

THAT SHE HAS MET WITH SPECIAL COUNSEL ROBERT MUELLER, III.

The rest of this is just noise.

    Good take, Rik..

Never did follow the Apprentice (sleazy conman faux-billionnaire was never my thing – saw right through his crap long, long before), so I gave the show a pass, and missed some of the specifics you cite … but I did catch glimpses every so often of Omarosa over the years, as she made her rounds hustling for dollars and playing up the toxic black woman negative stereotype..

But I still don’t get how she’s any more opportunistic – or how she did any more damage re: the treasonous buffoon ..than say, Bob Johnson, Kanye West and even Oprah..

As I’ve shared with my fam here years ago – and again during the 2016 elections, Omarosa no more enabled or ‘normalized’/legitimized the buffoon any more than Oprah did..

It was Oprah who in the thick of his brazen Birther crap, dedicated an entire show – one of her last during her final season, (prime real estate), entirely to the buffoon and his family.. Raving about him and his family, validating him and his rubbish and thoroughly elevating him and his 3rd wife and spawn..

It was Oprah who over the years was pallying around with him, had him on her show again and again, lavishing attention on him and his brood and promoting him and his every venture and talking up his ‘great kids’…She even begged him to run for president that time, celebrated Maya Angelou’s 80th birthday with the buffoon at Mar-la-lago .. And actually did a show from there featuring a cooking segment with the buffoon and one of his chefs cooking ‘the most delicious’ turkey burgers she claims she’s ever had, and couldn’t stop raving about..

And after the 2016 elections, it was Oprah who was quick to want to normalize the treasonous buffoon.. until folks on twitter pushed back so hard – calling her out and telling her, not so fast – we know you want to get back to pallying around with this awful man, perhaps even snag an ‘exclusive’ or 2 with him and his kkklan, but this is a treasonous and terrible hombre and we don’t intend to forgive or forget anytime soon or let you whitewash stuff so you can get on with playing footsie with the racist… so nyet..

She then quickly turned around and blamed her ‘hasty olive branch’ move on President Obama… trying to hide her own self-serving agenda behind President Obama’s ‘words’ and the buffoon’s during the obligatory meet and greet with the buffoon in the Oval Office..

Still didn’t stop her from still slyly trying to strongarm my #ForeverFLOTUS during her final interview with her, re: the buffoon’s 3rd wife …My historic FLOTUS had to firmly tell her to chill with the hard push.. door is open for the buffoon’s 3rd wife, and she can come through for help and answers when she finally knows what she does not know …

These all live on in infamy in various media..

I might never approve of it, but I can get a grifting Omarosa hustling .. but how does one explain Billionaires Oprah and Bob Johnson – or the likes of Kanye West etc.. And how are they mostly getting a pass.. In my opinion, they’ve done infinitely more damage.. they lent their ‘credibility’ to a racist shyster.. and helped validate and legitimize him, and provided him cover – even during and after his Birther crap..

Eliihass, that’s interesting about Oprah Winfrey, I didn’t know any of that. I’ve also never seen even one episode of The Apprentice and didn’t know the “stars” of that show.

My only observation is this. Many people did what they did and many things happened because no one believed Trump would ever be the president. Even after he started his campaign, even after his name was on the GOP ballot, people still didn’t believe he would be the president. So, with folks in the entertainment business, this was entertainment. Kind of a warped idea of entertainment, but they figured it was here today and gone tomorrow. Same with media, it’s news. Here today, gone tomorrow. Same with all those idiots who worked on his campaign. Break the law, who cares? He won’t be elected.

And perhaps the most devastating manifestation of that truth is what is happening to SCOTUS. The Democrats should have been raising all kinds of hell about Merrick Garland, but Hillary was going to be the president and it was all going to be okay.

But for those who support or tried to support Trump after he was inaugurated and within days started the destruction of the nation, I can’t explain. They are just simply complicit.

ACLU of Georgia slams plan to close many of county’s polls
    By BRINLEY HINEMAN, Associated Press
    Aug. 15, 2018 Updated: Aug. 15, 2018 12:38 p.m.

ATLANTA (AP) — Civil rights advocates are objecting to a proposal to close about 75 percent of polling locations in a predominantly black south Georgia county.

The Randolph County elections board is scheduled to meet Thursday to discuss a proposal that would eliminate seven of nine polling locations in the county, according to the American Civil Liberties Union of Georgia. Included in the proposed closures is Cuthbert Middle School where nearly 97 percent of voters are black.

“There is strong evidence that this was done with intent to make it harder for African Americans,” ACLU of Georgia attorney Sean Young said. The ACLU has sent a letter to the elections board demanding that the polling places remain open and has filed open records requests for information about the proposal to close the polling places.

County elections board members did not immediately respond Wednesday to a phone message seeking comment on the proposal.

Young and others from the ACLU plan to attend the elections board meeting Thursday.

According to the latest census figures, Randolph County’s population is more than 61 percent of black, double the statewide percentage.

The median household income for the county was $30,358 in 2016, compared to $51,037 in the rest of the state. Nearly one-third of the county’s residents live below the poverty line, compared to about 16 percent statewide, according to U.S. Census figures.

The closure of polling places will affect those who lack reliable transportation, the ACLU says. Public transit doesn’t exist in much of the rural county, and 22 percent of the county’s residents have no car. People who currently vote at the polling places that would close under the proposal would have to travel an additional 10 miles to vote, the ACLU says.

  8. Lord have mercy! Every day there is chaos, pain and suffering with this person posing as a president. Come deliver us from this evil.

Citizenship service conspired with ICE to ‘trap’ immigrants at visa interviews, ACLU says
    By Meagan Flynn
    August 15 at 9:37 AM

Lilian Calderon told her daughter not to worry, that she would be coming right back. Calderon and her husband, Luis, had an interview they couldn’t miss at U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services in Rhode Island Jan. 17.

All they had to do was prove their marriage was legitimate, the first step on a long path toward a green card. They brought family photographs, their children’s birth certificates and their marriage documents. Luis was a U.S. citizen. Calderon was undocumented. She had been brought to the United States illegally from Guatemala when she was 3.

The interviews were quick and painless. Calderon’s included “football banter,” she said.

But then ICE showed up — and it was quickly clear to Calderon that she would not be returning home to her daughter.

The 30-year-old mother of two wound up handcuffed and then detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for nearly a month, capturing the attention of the ACLU and leading to a class-action lawsuit over what attorneys have described as a “cruel bait and switch” arrest operation. According to emails between federal officials unsealed in federal court documents this week, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services had been coordinating with ICE to alert the agency when certain immigrants eligible for deportation showed up at the CIS office for routine interviews.

The ACLU of Massachusetts is accusing the agencies of conspiring to “trap” unsuspecting immigrants on a path toward legal permanent residency by inviting them to these interviews only for ICE to arrest them there. This happened to at least 17 people in 2018 including Calderon, although only 13 qualify as members of the class, according to the lawsuit. The ACLU argues this violates their rights to due process and the Immigration Nationality Act, among other things, for detaining the immigrants before they’ve had a chance to complete the process for seeking legal status.

“The government created this path for them to seek a green card,” Matthew Segal, legal director of the ACLU of Massachusetts, told the Associated Press. “The government can’t create that path and then arrest folks for following that path.”

On allies: Or, “Who the [bleep] is Amy Siskind?”

I didn’t know Amy Siskind from Adam until the Trump regime was installed over this fair land.

Then she started to make a name for herself in the resistance. She details his corruption with efficiency and verve.

However, as we all do, she has a history. And her history isn’t very good. You can read the sordid details in this thread:

    ………………………….

That’s some in-depth research. It seems Ms. Siskind wasn’t a “life-long Democrat”, as she claims. Or she had some odd notions of what “Democrat” means. In my book, it certainly doesn’t mean slagging a Democratic president, or caping for known moron Sarah Palin.

Now, our latter days have brought about many conversions. People from the other side are realizing just what shit we’re in. I’m thinking of Nicolle Wallace and Steve Schmidt. They’ve acknowledged their errors, and are atoning for them.

But Siskind, when confronted with this… went on the attack. She tried to act as if bringing up her history wasn’t just a smear on her as a person, but an attack on a “leader of the resistance”.

Yes. A PUMA who spent eight years attacking Barack Obama and only became “woke” after Hillary Clinton had the election stolen from her is now a “leader of the resistance”.

And her main line of attack was on Friend of LL Imani Gandy, aka @angryblacklady. She claimed that Imani was a Putinist plant sowing discord in the resistance.

More than 300 members of the clergy were accused of sexual abuse in a sweeping Pennsylvania grand jury report on the Catholic Church. The report identifies more than 1,000 child victims and details a 70-year, “systematic” coverup effort by the state’s church leaders. Michelle Boorstein and Gary Gately report: “State Attorney General Josh Shapiro said at a news conference Tuesday that more than 1,000 child victims were identified … but the grand jury believes there are more. The investigation is the most comprehensive yet on Catholic Church sex abuse in the United States. The 18-month probe covered the state’s eight dioceses — Harrisburg, Pittsburgh, Allentown, Scranton, Erie and Greensburg — and follows other state grand jury reports that revealed abuse and coverups in two other dioceses.” (Read the full grand jury report here.)

    — The report has raised questions about Cardinal Donald Wuerl, the archbishop of Washington who spent 18 years as the bishop of Pittsburgh. Julie Zauzmer and Reis Thebault report: “The grand jury depicts Wuerl’s actions in Pittsburgh as mixed, at times stopping abusive priests from continuing in their ministries in the diocese and at other times guiding them right back into parishes. … Wuerl had already denied knowing about the allegations against [his predecessor, Theodore McCarrick], which include two accusations of sexually abusing minors and three more accounts of harassing young priests and seminarians. On Tuesday, upon the release of the grand jury report, he also defended his conduct in Pittsburgh.”

    — It appears to be a global problem: Chilean authorities said they are raiding the headquarters of the country’s Catholic Episcopal Conference in connection to an investigation of sexual abuse within the church. (AP)

JAHANA HAYES CRUSHES PARTY-BACKED CANDIDATE IN A LANDSLIDE
    Rachel M. Cohen, Ryan Grim

A BIZARRE COALITION of groups has come together to rally behind Mary Glassman against Jahana Hayes in a Tuesday Democratic primary election in Connecticut, where racial politics have bubbled just beneath the surface.

Glassman is a longtime local politician who twice ran unsuccessfully for lieutenant governor. Connecticut is a blue state dominated by corporations, and Glassman this week won the rare endorsement of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, a Republican-aligned voice for big business. The chamber almost never endorses Democrats and rarely intervenes in a Democratic primary.

Joining the chamber is both MoveOn and the local chapter of Our Revolution, the group formed in the wake of Sen. Bernie Sanders’s 2016 campaign for president. The three disparate groups have never lined up together on a campaign, but they are doing so on the opposite side of Hayes, a black woman who grew up in a local housing project and captured national attention when she was named 2016 “Teacher of the Year.”

None of the endorsements mattered, as Hayes romped to a 62-38 percent victory over Glassman, who also had the official endorsement of the Connecticut Democratic Party.

    ……………………………………………….

But her sailing was less smooth than she expected. Less than two weeks before the May 14 endorsement convention, Hayes — encouraged by Sen. Chris Murphy — jumped into the race. At the nominating convention for Connecticut’s 5th District, as The Intercept previously reported, it was Hayes who emerged as the initial winner. But convention chair Tom McDonough kept the vote-switching period open long enough for enough delegates to switch and swing it narrowly back toward Glassman.

    • majiir says:

The GOP-dominated U.S. Chamber of Commerce made this rare move because its members, in general, have made it known that they think Trump is destroying the U.S. economy. They were OK with the tax cut bill Trump signed into law in December, but they’re not happy about his tariffs and trade wars. I had read last week that the USCOC had mentioned it might have to support some Democrats in the midterms. This move to support Hayes is all about their own pocketbooks.
