Friday Open Thread | Hate to Say It, But, We Told You So. The Latest about Immigration and Puerto Rico

There were two stories that were so disturbing, I couldn’t choose between the two.

The first is from Puerto Rico.

We here at 3CHICS have always been adamant- the racism, combined with the incompetence, was killing American Citizens in Puerto Rico, in the aftermath of Puerto Rico.

All the while the absolute neglect and disrespect of Puerto Rico was happening, this Administration was trying to shill that their inadequate response was so much better than what happened during Hurricane Katrina, when person after person involved, said no.
You had that Uncle Tom of a Governor, who spent his time kissing Dolt45’s azz, while the media wanted to dismiss one of Dolt45’s most vehement critics- Mayor of San Juan – Mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz, kept on telling us what was going on, not only in San Juan, but throughout the country.

We knew that people were dying, and there, you had Dolt45 throwing paper towels, and a FEMA that couldn’t find people, when media, and Chef Jose Andreas and his team were setting up kitchens all over the island in those ‘ unreachable by FEMA’ places.

We heard the story of the mass cremations.
We were insulted by that lapdog Governor, who wouldn’t stand up for the island, and actually pushed the swill of the official total dead in the double digits. A storm like that, and the aftermath, but, the death toll only in the double digits?
Are you kidding me?

Then, there was the Harvard study from a few months ago that estimated the death toll at above 4,000-which would be higher than both Katrina and 9/11.

But, still, the Governor was a lapdog.

Well now, this week, the Governor decided to accept the study done by George Washington University School of Health.

From the Maddow Blog:

Gov. Ricardo Rossello is raising Puerto Rico’s official toll from Hurricane Maria from 64 to 2,975 in response to a new, government-commissioned study finding deaths from the storm were severely undercounted.

He’s also creating a commission to implement recommendations in the new report, and creating a registry of the people expected to be most vulnerable in a future storm, such as the elderly, bedridden or kidney-dialysis patients.

The new estimate of 2,975 dead in the six months after Maria devastated the island in September 2017 was made by researchers with the Milken Institute School of Public Health at George Washington University. It was released Tuesday.

2,975.
2,975.

More than Katrina.
Almost at 9/11 levels.

I’ll be honest, I believe it’s higher.

We told you that because of their negligence and racism that they were killing these American Citizens.

And, the Mayor? Well, she was right.

San Juan mayor says the Trump administration killed thousands through neglect during Hurricane Maria

Washington (CNN)The Mayor of San Juan, Puerto Rico, said Wednesday that bureaucracy and inefficiency across local and federal government entities are to blame for the deaths of nearly 3,000 on the island in the wake of Hurricane Maria, which came to light as part of a newly released study commissioned by the Puerto Rican government.

In particular, Mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz blamed President Donald Trump, federal officials and Puerto Rican officials for not providing more assistance in what the Puerto Rican government now acknowledges was a storm deadlier than Hurricane Katrina.
“You know, everybody is responsible because there were people in power that had the opportunity to request more aid, to request more aid when it was reasonable, to request more aid when it was needed, to tell the truth and they didn’t,” Yulín Cruz told CNN “New Day” host Alisyn Camerota. “It’s 2,975 people and they’re still calling it an estimate — 2,975 people that will never see the light of day and many of them died because of what was done by the administration and that was silently approved by most of the political class in Puerto Rico.”

“The administration killed the Puerto Ricans with neglect. The Trump administration led us to believe they were helping when they weren’t up to par, and they didn’t allow other countries to help us,” Yulín Cruz said, later adding, “Shame on President Trump. Shame on President Trump for not even once, not even yesterday, just saying, ‘Look, I grieve with the people of Puerto Rico.’

No.Lie.Told.

Now, onto Immigration.
Dare I say, we told you?
We told you that the White Supremacists shaping Immigration Policy under this Administration have their goals:

TO MAKE AMERICA WHITE AGAIN!

PERIOD.

We told you, who were so smug, that they were after anyone NON-WHITE.

We told you that.
We told you that ‘ we only want the criminals’ was absolute and utter bullshyt.

We told you as they went after the children of DACA.
We told you as they went after the undocumented who have committed no crimes.
We told you as we watched ICE, in one cruel story after another, go after the undocumented who posed no threat to this country.
We told you as we watched this Administration enact a policy of ripping children from their families, who were LEGALLY trying to seek asylum in this country -WITH NO PLAN OF REUNIFICATION.
We told you as we watched them go from undocumented to LEGAL IMMIGRANTS – trying to find anything to deny them citizenship.
So, since, we told you during all of this, how can you be surprised by this?

DENYING PASSPORTS TO UNITED STATES CITIZENS.
DENYING PASSPORTS TO UNITED STATES CITIZENS.

IF you are NOT WHITE – —-

DO YOU FINALLY SEE IT?
DO YOU FINALLY UNDERSTAND?

U.S. is denying passports to Americans along the border, throwing their citizenship into question
By Kevin Sieff
August 29 at 4:25 PM
PHARR, Tex. — On paper, he’s a devoted U.S. citizen.

His official American birth certificate shows he was delivered by a midwife in Brownsville, at the southern tip of Texas. He spent his life wearing American uniforms: three years as a private in the Army, then as a cadet in the Border Patrol and now as a state prison guard.

But when Juan, 40, applied to renew his U.S. passport this year, the government’s response floored him. In a letter, the State Department said it didn’t believe he was an American citizen.

As he would later learn, Juan is one of a growing number of people whose official birth records show they were born in the United States but who are now being denied passports — their citizenship suddenly thrown into question. The Trump administration is accusing hundreds, and possibly thousands, of Hispanics along the border of using fraudulent birth certificates since they were babies, and it is undertaking a widespread crackdown.

In a statement, the State Department said that it “has not changed policy or practice regarding the adjudication of passport applications,” adding that “the U.S.-Mexico border region happens to be an area of the country where there has been a significant incidence of citizenship fraud.”

But cases identified by The Washington Post and interviews with immigration attorneys suggest a dramatic shift in both passport issuance and immigration enforcement.

Passports are issued by the United States State Department.

WHY THE PHUCK are Passport Applications being turned over to ICE?

From Chris Hayes:

No I don’t believe them. It’s happening, and they are helping ICE HURT AMERICAN CITIZENS.

If you are NOT-WHITE in this country, what more do these racists in power need to do before you wake the phuck up?

The White Supremacists in charge of Immigration in this country want to rid themselves of the NON-Whites.

Nothing can be more clear.

Only way to deal with them is to vote them out of office.

Latinos in Texas….where is the outrage from Rafael Cruz about this? For those of you who are thinking about voting for him in November – you better wake up.

Same for Puerto Ricans who moved to Florida…voting for Scott shouldn’t even be a possibility. He is pretending that he’s distanced himself from Dolt45….you believe that, you are being nothing but a sucker. Neither Cruz nor Scott have spoken up for the children ripped from their parents or about any of the other racist Immigration policies from this Administration. You better wake up about your vote in November.

The more I read about this the more saddened I become. To see the victims of the hurricanes that hit Puerto Rico being dismissed and disregarded and babies torn away from their mothers at the border rips my heart out. Moreover for hard working Americans to be denied basic rights and privileges makes this government look even worse. I also read about how native Hawaiians and Alaskans are also being treated badly. Are we all not Americans? How can they treat people this way? People that contribute to society and pay taxes? I have no faith in this government and truly believe only God’s Kingdom will solve these problems (Revelation 21:3,4).

I have a background in sociology and psychology. The research is accurate when it states that many Americans don’t see children of color as being the same as other kids.

Yeah, sadly I have to believe that with all the evidence from social media.

But this is assault. These guys should be prosecuted and I hope they are identified and arrested.
