Tuesday Open Thread-Major Networks Covering Trump’s Sham of a Speech Tonight?

Eliihaaas: “I’d be curious to see how many of the same tv networks who refused to carry President Obama’s important 2014 Immigration speech, will carry the treasonous buffoon’s out-rightly ridiculous gaslighting charade

Why major US TV networks didn’t show Obama’s immigration address

CBS, NBC, ABC and Fox stick with hit primetime shows
Spanish-language channel Univision did carry the address
Obama to unveil immigration plan that could shield millions
Live blog: Republicans hint at reprisals over immigration

Cable news channels like Fox News and CNN carried the address, and some of the networks carried it on their digital platforms, but a network insider told Politico on Thursday the speech’s content was too “overtly political” to broadcast.  REALLY?!

Here’s President Obama’s 2014 address

All four living ex-presidents have publicly rebuffed President Trump’s claim that they privately gushed about the need for a massive wall on the U.S.-Mexico border.

Trump made the questionable remark during a raucous press conference in the White House Rose Garden on Friday while defending his refusing to reopen the government without Congress first earmarking at least $5 billion for a behemoth barrier on the border.
“This should have been done by all of the presidents that preceded me and they all know it,” Trump said of his wall obsession. “Some of them have told me that we should have done it.”

    Something’s up, fam..

Never seen Jerome Corsi so subdued and humbled.. so pathetic..

He’s and Roger Stone have turned on each other, and Stone is waging a right-wing media war against Corsi, while Jerome is practically groveling to Ari Melber and literally begging for Ari to have him back whenever..

I almost feel sorry for chief Birther Jerome Corsi … almost..

But then I remember the damage he’s wrought and the pain he’s caused so many..

Here’s another thing they’re trying to distract from… the shambles they’ve made of the overall Middle East situation …the many conflicts arising from their quid pro quo ‘deals’ with murderous despots e.g crown prince buddy and Kushner mullah provider …the axis of faux-strongmen Erdogan, Vlad et al …All heightened by the unceremonious departure of ‘fired’ Mattis and the other ‘generals’.. And a world where evil pos Bolton is now considered the only remaining ‘voice of reason’..

Been thinking a lot about this quote:

“I voted for him, and he’s the one who’s doing this,” she said of Mr. Trump. “I thought he was going to do good things. He’s not hurting the people he needs to be hurting.”

I have been thinking about this quote ever since I saw it in a tweet. There were those of us who said this from the beginning, what Dolt45 voters were REALLY all about. But, we’ve seen article upon article about them…how we were supposed to ‘ understand’ them.

Thing is, a lot of us DID understand them, which is why we tired immediately of seeing articles about them.
We told you…that it wasn’t about economic anxiety..
We told you…that they didn’t have a problem with WHITE SOCIALISM…..they only had a problem with socialism that treated everyone the same…

Part of their anger about Obamacare was that it was the first expansion of the American Social Safety Net that DID NOT have in its DESIGN – the exclusion of huge swaths of the American populace (unlike Social Security and Medicare). It took the John Roberts Court to cut people out….
They will willing, sitting in those red states, to support those that blocked Medicaid expansion….even though it would help a lot of them…because they KNEW that blocking Medicaid expansion would mean that THOSE PEOPLE wouldn’t be getting it.

Since I knew that this is what these folks were all about, I honestly don’t want to hear a Democrat purse their lips to tell me that we ought to include these folks in our outreach.

    NO. WE. SHOULD. NOT.

We need to turn to them and say – Phuck You and Your Mama – and proceed about our business.

Finding those who haven’t voted, or have been voter suppressed. Help get the former registered, and the latter whatever they need in order to be able to vote.
What you not gonna do is go around begging muthaphuckas to vote for you that would just as soon slit your throat.

    Uh uh.

I know that this is new language coming from our side….but, it’s time.
    It’s them or us.

    I choose US.

      Spot on, Rikyrah.

The Florida panhandle is as “conservative” as it gets. They overwhelming voted for Trump except in Leon and Gadsen counties which have university linked populations.

The person who you’re quoting is a 38 year old secretary from Marianna, a prison town with nothing going for it except the prison and it’s been that way forever. Marianna was home to the infamous Dozier School for Boys. The history of racism in that part of Florida would rival that of the state of Mississippi or Alabama. In fact, it really is just an extension of those states, always has been.

I agree with you. There are some folks who really aren’t worth the effort and thinking you can reach them is like thinking you can change the direction of the wind. It can’t be done. It absolutely cannot be done. And why would you even want to?

I really wish the interviewer had asked this woman who she wanted to get hurt. Make her say it.

    • Liza says:

Yeah, the Florida panhandle is Trump country and Marianna is a prison town, nothing else going on there and it’s been that way ever since I can remember. The infamous Dozier School for Boys was located in Marianna.

Doesn’t surprise me that a 38 year old secretary said about Trump, “He’s not hurting the people he needs to be hurting.”

I wish they had asked the b!tch exactly who are those people, the ones he should be hurting.

This is what Congress must tell Trump
    By Eugene Robinson
    Columnist–January 7 at 5:24 PM

Our government may at some time be in the hands of a bad man. When in the hands of a good man it is all well enough. . . . We ought to have our government so shaped that even when in the hands of a bad man we shall be safe.”

Frederick Douglass said that in 1866, as Andrew Johnson — until now, clearly the worst president in U.S. history — tried his best to undo the verdict of the Civil War, encouraging white supremacists to reimpose brutal oppression of African Americans in the former Confederate states. An irate Congress responded by passing the nation’s first federal civil rights legislation, over Johnson’s veto, and approving the 14th Amendment guaranteeing equal protection under the law. How will Congress respond now?

Once again, with President Trump in the White House, our government is “in the hands of a bad man.” Once again, Congress has a duty to act — not rashly but responsibly, dealing with concrete issues in concrete ways.

And if for some reason Beto turns out to have no use for Nina ..seeing as he’s able to cultivate his own black relationships… the B-bros will ultimately cast Nina aside..
