Monday Open Thread | Carl Bernstein: Mueller Draft Report Will Say Trump Helped Putin Destabilize US

Famed Watergate reporter Carl Bernstein said on Sunday that according to his sources, special counsel Robert Mueller’s report will show that President Donald Trump helped Russia to “destabilize the United States.”

“This is about the most serious counterintelligence people we have in the U.S. government saying, ‘Oh, my God, the president’s words and actions lead us to conclude that somehow he has become a witting, unwitting, or half-witting pawn, certainly in some regards, to Vladimir Putin,’” Bernstein explained during his appearance on Reliable Sources .

“From a point of view of strength… rather, he has done what appears to be Putin’s goals. He has helped Putin destabilize the United States and interfere in the election, no matter whether it was purposeful or not,” the journalist added. He then explained that he knew from his own high-level sources that Mueller’s report would discuss this assessment.

“And that is part of what the draft of Mueller’s report, I’m told, is to be about,” he said. “We know there has been collusion by [former national security adviser Michael] Flynn. We know there has been collusion of some sort by [Trump’s former campaign chairman Paul] Manafort. The question is, yes, what did the president know and when did he know it?”

    Yes, Bernie bros absolutely suck.. and are vile and more white supremacist/libertarian than they are anything else.. And the black folks who’ve stayed on with this crowd are either warped, misguided or have their own twisted issues that they’re dealing with..

    Having said that, if we are to make better decisions and not get mired in the same mess we found ourselves the last time – let’s also not gloss over incredibly important stuff or begin to gaslight like the Alt-Right, for the sake of shining up obvious b.s …or actively exploiting black folks again and selling them the b.s okey doke simply for their votes – and all in a bid to absolve and push painfully mediocre, glaringly self-aggrandizing, self-serving opportunists – including those whose so-called ‘qualifications’ arise from hopping from one political position up to the next without doing much – and only because they were dubiously set up by a party grand Poobah, and subsequently had the field cleared for them again and again and again..

    Manufactured (mediocre) candidates, contrived, fluffed-up, packaged and actively touted and pushed by an army of well-paid blue chip PR folks and hired ‘social media influencers’ … accepted for being preferably ‘not quite like them’, but then actively sold to certain demographics as ‘one of their own’ – with ‘outrage’ routinely harvested to artificially try to gin up folks …make folks ‘see themselves in’, align and rally around opportunistic candidate/pol, is a cheap political pr trick for pols who don’t have really have it, don’t quite ring true, aren’t authentic and don’t entirely connect no matter how well-rehearsed, and don’t have much going for them besides the raucous self-appointed king-makers at every level who find them acceptable because they’re ‘visually and biographically’ removed from the ‘historically uncomfortable’ and not quite as ‘offensive’ as those in the demographic they then desperately try to exploit for necessary support, backing and votes …just like the wealthy backers who’ve handpicked them for whatever reason, and are looking for the masses to follow suit …and trying not to be quite as obvious or as blatant in their ‘we know what’s best for you plebs’ entitlement… as they did last time – and ended up costing the actually better qualified candidate ..

    Here’s hoping folks know the difference and don’t fall for the obvious okey doke..

      John Kasich is one of the slimiest of slimy weasels… And glaringly too.. And just as despicable as the rest of the awful rethugs..

      That some have (for whatever reason escapes the clear-eyed), often incredulously touted the obviously preternaturally weaselly and disingenuous Kasich as somehow a ‘smart’, ‘honorable’, voice of ‘reason’ and one of the ‘good’ guys …and the ‘better’ kind of republican, is not only amusingly dishonest, but downright insane..

      Kasich is ‘better’ than the rest of the rethugs, in that way that a semi clean-shaven drug addict ‘respectably’ overdoses in a seedy motel room, while a disheveled drug addict overdoses on the street corner using tainted needles..
