Wednesday Open Thread | There Is No Deal To Be Made…Stay Strong, Madam Speaker

Let’s get this out of the way.

There is no BOTH SIDES to this Government Shutdown. There simply isn’t.

Dolt45 and The Turtle are responsible for the Government Shutdown.

Period.

The Democrats have watched and have had their last nerve snapped. They are done. They are not going to negotiate with terrorists.

It was Dolt45 who damaged DACA.

It was Dolt45 who damages TPS.

The Supreme Court has already given a pass to hearing the case on DACA, which means that those under DACA’s protections don’t have to worry about it for another year.

So, exactly what was Dolt45 going to negotiate with, considering that the Supreme Court has already made its decision.

Give into them now, and they’ll be back to the well when the debt ceiling comes up.
And, then, it ‘ll be something else.

NO.NEGOTIATING.WITH.TERRORISTS.

It will never end.

No.

Uh Huh.

Folks see through the garbage:

Hmmph…so, you see the pattern?

And, Dolt45?

You don’t know her like that.

It’s Madam Speaker.
Or Speaker Pelosi.

Put some respect on her title.

And, it’s not a contract, you ignorant dolt.

And, Turtle..we haven’t forgotten you either:

  1. …Or open the government like @SpeakerPelosi stated and they can mutually agree on a date.

Birtherism and Black-Enough-ism Start Early Against Kamala Harris

It was a mere two days ago, on MLK Day, that California Senator Kamala Harris announced that she would be a candidate for the 2020 Democratic nomination for president. Harris, the former District Attorney of San Francisco and former Attorney General of the most populous state, has drawn national attention by making Trump nominees and officials squirm with her famously prosecutorial style questioning.

Almost as quickly as her announcement came the attacks – not on her record but on her very being. Harris, who would be the second African American to be president (as well as the first woman and the first Asian American) were she to be elected, is attracting the tried and true tactics of birtherism and black-enough-ism. The insane Right renewed its idiotic anti-Constitutional claim that the citizenship of parents, rather than being born on American soil, determines one’s citizenship at birth, through who else but its wunderkid Jacob Wohl:

    ………………….

Harris was born in Oakland, California – a town nearly a stone’s throw from my home – and there is this thing called the 14th amendment that is, like, not at all ambiguous about those born on American soil being Americans. It has no mention of citizenship status of parents. But I pity the Right wing mind, which believes the second phrase of the Second Amendment to be the entirety of the US Constitution.

If there’s a silver-lining to this cloud, it occurs to me that the Right is petrified of another black candidate who speaks their mind and upends the white-privileged political order, and they are terrified of Kamala Harris.

Attacks on Harris’ identity weren’t restricted to birtherism from the Right, however. In an eerie reminder of the Obama campaign, Harris’ blackness is seen by some as a subject of legitimate question because of – wait for it – the race of her husband.

I’m going to say this, without hesitation..

IF you have been alive and have seen what the GOP has done since 2016…

And, you purse your lips to say that you won’t vote for Kamala because of who she married..

You were never serious in the first place. You’re one of those stupid muthaphuckas that did this same shyt in 2016, and nobody is playing with you.

Phuck you and your Mama, cause these are serious times, and they call for serious people…of which one you are not.

Article II of the U.S. Constitution only mentions the president informing Congress and our citizens about the state of the Union. I used to teach this stuff. It’s a one line sentence in the Constitution. Before the advent of TV, all presidents used other forms of communication to deliver this information. What Trump & Co. doesn’t seem to understand is that the three branches of government are co-equal, have separate powers, and have the power of checks and balances. This means that although Trump & Co. think they can tell Speaker Pelosi what to do, they lack the power to demand that she does anything they request/demand from her. She understands this, but they don’t. They think Trump has the power of an absolute monarch, but that is a bald-faced lie, per the U.S. Constitution. They need to stop talking about how much they ‘love’ the Constitution and start reading, studying, and understanding it. They all also need to be spending their spare time auditing a political science class at the nearest D.C. university because they don’t know sh*t about the Constitution or what their jobs entail.

  5. The ball is not in @SpeakerPelosi’s court. She has said what she said. He can’t over-rule her. Somebody better educate this clown.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s allies announce their first Democratic primary target, conservative Texas Rep. Henry Cuellar
    Eliza Relman Jan. 11, 2019, 1:51 PM

Justice Democrats, the progressive group that helped Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez win her insurgent primary bid, announced on Friday that it would recruit a 2020 primary challenger to Rep. Henry Cuellar, a conservative Democrat who represents a deep-blue South Texas district.

Progressives argue that Cuellar is the ideal Democrat to challenge — he’s one of the most conservative Democrats in the House, his South Texas district is safely blue, and he’s even allied himself with Republicans in recent years. Last year, Cuellar controversially fundraised for GOP Rep. John Carter, a fellow Texan, in his competitive race against the Democrat MJ Hegar.
