Virginia regulators approve permit for pipeline compressor station

    By Gregory S. Schneider

RICHMOND — Virginia regulators on Tuesday approved a permit for a natural gas compressor station in the historic African American community of Union Hill in Buckingham County, angering opponents who vowed to keep fighting in protests and in court.

The state Air Pollution Control Board voted 4 to 0 on the basis of recommendation from staff of the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality and under heavy pressure from Dominion Energy, whose executives occupied two reserved rows at the front of the meeting room.

Dominion, Virginia’s most powerful utility, is leading a consortium of companies in building the $7 billion Atlantic Coast natural gas pipeline, which needs the compressor station to keep the gas flowing across the state.

After the vote, hundreds of protesters who had packed the meeting erupted in angry chants of “Shame! Shame! Shame!” as board members filed out a side door.

“The world is dying because of decisions of people like you!” one man screamed.

Others sang the civil rights anthem “We Shall Not Be Moved.”

The plan to keep Trump’s taxes hidden
The Trump administration wants to drag an expected Democratic request for the president’s tax returns into a quagmire of arcane legal arguments.

By NANCY COOK 02/05/2019 05:02 AM EST Updated 02/05/2019 12:56 PM EST

The new House Democratic majority is widely expected to test one of Donald Trump’s ultimate red lines by demanding the president’s personal tax returns — and the Trump administration has been gearing up for months to fight back hard.

Trump’s Treasury Department is readying plans to drag the expected Democratic request for Trump’s past tax filings, which he has closely guarded, into a quagmire of arcane legal arguments.

At the same time, officials intend to publicly cast the request as a nakedly partisan exercise. The two-pronged scheme was developed by a handful of top political appointees and lawyers inside the department — with the ultimate goal of keeping the president’s past returns private, according to four people familiar with the administration’s approach.

The strategy will hinge on an argument that politically motivated Democrats will inevitably leak Trump’s tax information — a felony in and of itself — if the IRS hands over the documents. So because Democrats can’t be trusted to keep the documents private, they shouldn’t get them in the first place, officials will insist. Treasury officials have been waiting since early January for a top Democrat to make the request.

Kamala Harris, Truancy and the Fauxgressive Left’s Desperate Attempt to Criminalize School Attendance

    “Kamala is a cop.”

Since it’s been speculated that Kamala Harris, US Senator from California a badass Trump-nominee-squirm-causer, might run for president, we’ve been hearing the above over and over again from a particular corner of the “left” media and intelligentsia. Since she declared she was running for president a week and a day ago in front of a 20,000+ crowd in Oakland, California (with overflow crowds everywhere), the pushers of this insidious line have gone into high gear. In what they believe is their silver bullet against Harris’ candidacy, they are targeting an anti-truancy program she led when she served as the District Attorney for the City and County of San Francisco.

It’s pretty ridiculous, when you think about it, why anyone – least of all anyone claiming to be a liberal – would oppose a program mainly centered around community resources for parents to bring kids back to school and keep them off the streets, but I quite suspect Kamala Harris’ failing to be an underachiving, 40-year career politician, septuagenarian Caucasian male from a 93% white, rural state has something to do with this.

In my view, there are three parts that make up this attack’s appeal: (1) the reinforcement of Harris being a law enforcement officer (a “cop”) and of law enforcement being evil, (2) the idea that truancy enforcement is bad for poor people and communities of color, and (3) a callous disregard for the wellbeing and safety of children.

    ……………..

When it comes to think of it, the program’s very success may be a threat to those who are looking to vilify all law enforcement. The anti-truancy program that Harris helped run was humane, depended primarily on investments in community resources, and effective without actually having to imprison anyone. But admitting that law enforcement can be – and has been – a force for good in a community, that law enforcement can work – and has worked – hand in glove with schools and community resources to have a positive impact on getting kids back to school and off the streets is antithetical to demonizing the very profession of law enforcement and tarring and feathering anyone in it with that paintbrush.

If you admit that, you may have to face the complex world where law enforcement is often a force for good and yet the criminal justice system is in dire need of reform. You may have to admit that giving people of color a seat at the table and the power to make decisions often improves the system rather than getting those individuals sucked into a system that is still in many instances whitewashed. And if you admit all that, you might have to admit your own responsibility to improve things in your community rather than just tweeting angry rants.

Midday music break, some country blues here. If you’ve seen the movie Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri then you’ve heard this song by Townes Van Zandt. But unless you’re from Texas, there’s a good chance you’ve never heard of him. Interesting man, great songwriter, he can rip your heart out. Don’t know where that comes from other than he had a horrific addiction to alcohol and heroin, and the addiction ultimately prevailed.

From a local Black Virginian about the Fairfax situation:

    Town • 27 minutes ago

Just saw something on the POU feed on the sidebar:

VERY VERY interesting…The Adria Scharf woman that released Fairfax’s accuser’s text message is down with LeVar Stoney, who is the mayor of Richmond.

EDIT: Adria Scharf is LeVar Stoney’s aide’s WIFE.

LeVar Stoney was Terry McAuliffe’s chief of staff and very ambitious. He is beloved by the white hipsters, I know (Adria Scharf seems to be a white hipster). I’m not sure if he’s so beloved by the black folks in Richmond, though. I don’t hear anything against him or for him with black folks.

Anywhoo, even though Stoney called for Northam to leave, seems like he’s doing Northam’s heavy work by getting rid of Fairfax.

And the RVA Dirt people are connected with the white hipster crowd in Richmond…

    and a good response:

All it takes these days in any woman simply accusing…not anything other than that..just an accusation, that’s it. White folks understand exactly what a weapon that is better than anybody since they invented it. So this accuser “retains” a law firm which is only to give the impression that she is credible, that’s all, nothing more. The Law firm is actually a PR stunt. They are only paid to be actors. This has been going on for far too long.

Once again, dumbass wokies allowed white folks to pied piper their asses down a dangerous rabbit hole where at the end of the day, the brunt of it all will be born by black folks. Sure, there will be a few high profile white men sacrificed, but the brunt of it? Oh, that’ll be black folks. #Metoo has morphed into a COINTELPRO for the 21st century.

LeVar Stoney (mayor of Richmond) wants to run for Governor in 2021. Fairfax being able to run for Gov in 2021 gets in his way…he wants to be the chosen Negro. Stoney’s assistant’s wife is the one who shared that text message with that rightwing website, but Northam gets the blame*.

Fairfax found out Stoney was behind it and spilled the tea.

The tea I want to drink is why did Stoney and his white wife divorce? Did he kick his white wife to the curb because he knew having a white wife in Richmond would not get him votes (although a white man with a black child bride got very close)? They were college sweethearts, too.

RVA Dirt is down with Stoney as well but I can’t tell if they were in on it or if they were useful tools.

RVA Dirt is a Twitter account that reports on various government activities in the City of Richmond. They’re always live tweeting City Council meetings, protests around the city, etc. It’s 3 women that run the account: 2 white, 1 black and they’re all millennials.

This Scharf woman is part of the woke millennial crowd and her husband is Stoney’s aide.

RVA Dirt started reporting (before any of the mainstream media picked up on it) about Justin Fairfax having a MeToo moment. They retweeted Collective PAC’s tweet about Ms. MeToo coming forth & Collective PAC is the one who said Northam was behind this.

Collective PAC raises money for young black millennial politicians and one of their beneficiaries is Fairfax.

Later on, Ms. MeToo pops up on RVA Dirt’s Facebook page to say the text message sent to Adria Scharf was indeed from her and Adria had her permission to spread it around.

Somebody started attacking RVA Dirt’s FB page about their post on Fairfax/Accuser; RVA Dirt said they think it’s people connected to Fairfax but later they admitted they know who is attacking their page.

Adria Scharf has come out to say SHE would NEVER share something like that with the rightwing website. No, but I’m 99% sure your husband did (smile).
