In case you weren’t clear, while Barr was lying his azz off with the Senate Judiciary Committee, the Justice Department was doing the following:

Trump Administration Files Formal Request to Strike Down All of Obamacare
By Jan Hoffman and Abby Goodnough
May 1, 2019

The Trump administration formally declared its opposition to the entire Affordable Care Act on Wednesday, arguing in a federal appeals court filing that the signature Obama-era legislation was unconstitutional and should be struck down.

Such a decision could end health insurance for some 21 million Americans and affect many millions more who benefit from the law’s protections for people with pre-existing medical conditions and required coverage for pregnancy, prescription drugs and mental health.

In filing the brief, the administration abandoned an earlier position — that some portions of the law, including the provision allowing states to expand their Medicaid programs, should stand. The switch, which the administration disclosed in late March, has confounded many people in Washington, even within the Republican Party, who came to realize that health insurance and a commitment to protecting the A.C.A. were among the main issues that propelled Democrats to a majority in the House of Representatives last fall.

Just so that you understand…this doesn’t just affect the 20 million people who got healthcare because of Obamacare.
This is about the millions of young people who have insurance with their parents until they are 26.

This is about the ONE IN TWO AMERICANS WHO HAVE A PRE-EXISTING CONDITION</strong, who would now be thrust back into the bad old days of paying exorbitant rates for insurance, WHEN they can get insurance AT ALL.

The wellness provisions that every American with insurance now enjoys – GONE.

The GOP has NO PLAN other than to take this country back to the bad old days before Obamacare.

More healthcare news…it can never be clearer- the two parties are NOTHING ALIKE ON HEALTHCARE

Understand, this is about using the money..not for providing healthcare

2.6+ million people voted by mail.

The statewide average of rejected VBM ballots in 2018 was 1.2%, higher than the 2012 or 2016 presidential elections. In Broward County, it was 2.8% —and even higher among voters between the ages of 18-21.

As the entire nation applauded the young organizers from Parkland for getting engaged, research by @electionsmith shows about 15% of their vote-by-mail ballots were rejected. They didn’t have a voice in this election.

.@ACLUFL & @UF analyzed the 2014 & 2016 elections & produced a report finding “that younger and ethnic minority voters were much more likely to have their VBM ballots rejected, and less likely to have their VBM ballots cured when they were flagged for a signature mismatch.”

At the state level, there are 9 measures that should be taken:

      1. Allow same-day registration
      2. Repeal Florida’s onerous voter registration laws
      3. Standardize and fund early vote sites across the state
      4. Universal paid postage for vote by mail ballots
      5. Allow ballots postmarked by election day to be counted
      6. Increase funding for SOE offices
      7. Mandate electronic poll books to make voter registration portable statewide
      8. Fix signature matching.
      9. A real recount system that triggers an evaluation of an actual paper receipt, rather than a count by the same machines that produced the first count

We also need our federal government to address voter suppression BEFORE it occurs, not just after. Florida was covered by the Voting Rights Act preclearance formula that was struck down by the Supreme Court in 2013 in Shelby County v. Holder and gutted the Voting Rights Act.

Under the formulas in the remedial legislation, the Voting Rights Advancement Act, we expect that Fla. would again be covered, requiring the Justice Department to pre-clear changes to state voting laws.

This preclearance provision could potentially block suppressive voting measures before they go into effect.
