The picture of a majestic revolution. It’s a groundbreaking image of equality – STEPHEN GLOVER celebrates the Royals’ glorious ability to adapt, but suggests to the ferociously private parents: tread carefully on tradition

Some will see this change as a breath of fresh air; others as a dangerous and self-centred subversion of long-established and hallowed ways of doing things. I find myself thinking that both judgments are true.

But the change has not just been orchestrated by the forward-looking young couple. The Queen, too, has embraced it for reasons which appear to be similar to those of Lampedusa’s hero.

She knows that, if the Royal Family is to survive and prosper in the 21st century, it must adapt. Fate has offered it a chance to do so in the shape of Archie, the son of an American whose mother is black. He is seventh in line to the throne, but much higher up the pecking order in terms of his importance to ‘the Firm’.

The unspoken sentiment is stupid because there is a white person in charge now and two white people were the standard bearers for president in 2016. Barack Obama rocked a lot of white people’s world and three years after he is not president, 2520s are still looking for some great, white hope to mend their feelings about him, that he was as good and better than their faves, and everyone of the white people they have leaned on has been weighed and found wanted.

I am tired of elections being about 2520s feelings and not the facts on ground state of the country. The country is falling in every index of a good developed country-health care, education, economic equality-but we are still litigating white people’s feelings-i.e. their racism and how their racism affects our policy. White folks racism is why we can’t have paid family leave, why our infrastructure is falling apart, why our educational rankings are awful in comparison to other developed and developing countries. This is why Barack Obama rankled 2520s-he wanted the country to be about what it said it was about and 2520s wanted their feelings taken into account about it.

Tell Your Mee-Maw And Them To Break Up With Joe Biden, I’m Bored

    BY MICHAEL ARCENEAUX · MAY 14, 2019
On the day Joe Biden announced his bid for the presidency, I knew where to look in order to best gauge how seriously I should fear the former vice president finding a way to actually win the nomination.

    ………………..

It was there the nightmare stood before me: a bunch of old Black people celebrating Biden’s announcement. That’s how I knew I was screwed. Yes, it is anecdotal, but helpful all the same. White people are going to be divided by their new favorite gay man, their new favorite Kennedy supplement, their potential new imaginary Black friend if she doesn’t spook them (they scare easily when it comes to us, see all those police calls), and if they’re really feeling daring, perhaps their wonky pal who keeps dropping policy proposals like mixtapes. But as it stands now, most appear to be mainly torn between the white old white men sucking up the airwaves.

So, it’s the Black vote that will be most determinative of the outcome of the next Democratic presidential primary, and more specifically, old Black people. As it so often is. Therein lies the problem: old Black people love the hell out of Joe Biden.

    ……………………..

For those of us who do not want Joe Biden to be the Democratic nominee for president in 2020, all hope is not lost. Hillary Clinton had a double digit lead over Barack Obama in Black voter support well into fall 2007. We see how that ended for her, bless her heart. I have seen pundits dismiss such points, but that’s more indicative of their banality-driven approach to political commentary than a more grounded reflection on a potential outcome.

Joe Biden is Joe Biden, so there is always reason to believe he will screw it all up. Unfortunately, I cannot place too much faith in any sector of the electorate because an ignorant buffoon has somehow managed to not only win a presidential election, but has somehow managed to derail a two century-plus old republic solely on the strength of a pathological level of shamelessness. That buffoon in question is what partially drives his current support, but unless one key constituency can be convinced to look past his association with history and look elsewhere to best benefit the future, we’re doomed with the gaffe magnet in Delaware who’s yet to ever run a good presidential campaign.

More than 60% of Democrats in the poll say they prize electability over whether they agree with the candidates. There are not many fresh ways to write this, but either Biden rivals convince voters that he’s not electable, or Biden wins. https://t.co/KgppUap1EG

    — Dave Weigel (@daveweigel) May 9, 2019
So, I have a plea for all of the younger Black people reading. Can you please, please, please try to convince your parents, mee-maws, pa-pas, aunties and uncles to please do not vote for Joe Biden?

We have to teach them how to say Kamala Harris’ name. We have to explain to them what a Pete Buttigeg is, and while they’re probably not going to vote for it, they should give Julián Castro a strong look (note to them that a Black woman is his campaign manager). Also, please help them find out about all 12 million of Elizabeth Warren’s policy proposals — including the one that will let them off the hook if they co-signed any of your student loans besides strong misgivings (guilty). Jay Inslee isn’t really a thing, but he doesn’t want us all to die thanks to climate change, so that’s helpful. Same for Beto, who should be introduced as a white boy who at least knows there are perks to being a white boy in America. I don’t fancy people who throw binders at others, but you know, if you want to talk about Amy Klobuchar, good luck with that. Same for Cory Booker, the love machine.

Dave Weigel needs to sit his @ss down somewhere and take some lessons from older black people and black people in general before he starts running off at the mouth. I’ve had Caucasian neighbors for almost 40 years, and they were the first only persons I’ve ever heard call their grandmothers mee-maws. The first time I heard a little Caucasian boy in the neighborhood refer to his grandmother as ”mee-maw,” I was wondering who the hell he was talking about. Weigel doesn’t know sh*t about why black people vote for the politicians we vote for. I don’t need him to classify me, and I’m sure there are a whole lot of other black persons who feel the same way. Unarmed Black Woman Yells ‘I’m Pregnant!’ Before Being Shot, Killed by Police
      Jay Connor

A police officer in Baytown, Texas, fatally shot and killed a black woman while attempting to arrest her at her apartment complex on Monday night.

KHOU 11 reports that the shooting occurred after an officer identified a woman with whom he had prior encounters while patrolling her apartment complex. Believing she had outstanding warrants, he attempted to arrest her before a struggle ensued.

During said struggle, the officer used his taser, which was allegedly wrestled out of his control by the woman and used on the officer. The officer then jumped to his feet and fired five shots, hitting her at least once. In a video of the altercation circulating online, the woman can be heard yelling “Why are you harassing me?” and “I’m pregnant!” prior to being shot.

‘I’m Pregnant!’ Texas Cop Shoots And Kills Unarmed Black Woman
The victim was a 44-year-old grandmother.

UPDATED: 11:03 a.m. EDT — Police in Texas appeared to be attempting to control the narrative surrounding the fatal shooting of a Black woman in suburban Houston Monday night.

A Baytown Police officer killed Pamela Turner in a shooting that was recorded on video by a bystander. The video showed the unidentified officer struggling with Turner and using his Taser on her, forcing her to the ground. Turner could be heard yelling, “I’m pregnant!” before the officer pulled out his gun and fired at her five times at very close range.

Tuesday morning, police were saying that Turner, a 44-year-old grandmother of three, tried to grab the officer’s Taser gun, claiming that was the reason the officer was forced to use his gun on her.

“During the course of the attempted arrest, the female began struggling with the officer, which forced the officer to deploy his Taser,” Baytown Police Department Lt. Steve Dorris said. “That deployment was not effective, and the female was able to get the officer’s Taser away from him. (She) actually tased the officer, which forced the officer to draw his duty weapon and fire multiple rounds at the suspect.”

The video, however, told a different story and did not appear to show Turner reaching for anything while she was on the ground.

Samantha…keep Doria’s name out your mouth!

    ……..
In a brand new interview with the the Mirror, Markle spent the day ahead of Mother’s Day criticizing new-mom Meghan for not including their father, Thomas Markle, in the baby celebrations. “It’s sad. He should have been involved. Being excluded is like a dagger through his heart…And poor Master Archie is not getting to know a creative, loving person,” she said, echoing a sentiment she’s said to the tabloids many times before.

But the British press doesn’t pay Markle for interviews as well as it does for her to just keep rehashing old and tired sound bytes, does it? So this time, she went after the most dignified and graceful person she could: Doria Ragland.

Markle lashed out at Ragland for not encouraging Meghan to reunite with her father, as if the duchess doesn’t know what’s best for her and her family. Or as if she’s forgotten the countless times Thomas has humiliated her, Prince Harry and himself in the press. As if her private pleas with him weren’t publicized to the world and her words turned to tabloid fodder.
