    Having a well-received ‘moment’ – or even several of those… no matter how ‘viral’ they go, do not a competent, capable, visionary, selfless, effective president make ..

    As Dems tweet and tv preen their ‘outrage’ d’ jour, and carry on with the media-requested ridiculous minstrel shows that in the end do little to actually improve their chances..

    Media actively helps degrade Dems – even as same media folk simultaneously, gratuitously throw a few pc crumbs at a select few in the running.. with no intention however, to in the end help any Dem actually cross that finish line …make it into that Oval Office in 2020..

    For those who aren’t paying attention, know this – the media, a trusted and dedicated subsidiary of the GOP, has their marching orders for 2020..

    They’re busy papering over the smelly treasonous buffoon.. all while the GOP …including the so-called ‘never-trumpers’ who’ve somehow wormed their way into and have been embraced by some in the Dem family who’ve been thoroughly hoodwinked and for sometime now, have allowed these gop-nevertrumpers invite themselves into Dem party business and decision-making process..

    …while at the same time, they have been working hard behind the scenes to put a more ‘acceptable’ oligarchy- approved face over the GOP’s callous policies and inhumanity … they’ve all been busy behind the scenes fluffing up and re-packaging Nikki Haley for unveiling ..to replace Pence as the treasonous buffoon’s running mate… effusively supported and being pushed for by among others, the Israeli lobby of which there are some Dems.. even if they go about stuff on the sly..

    Evangelicals go all in for Trump reelection

    Faith leaders and anti-abortion groups are ramping up their efforts to reelect President Trump, rewarding a president who has become an unlikely hero of the Christian right because of his commitment to socially conservative causes.

    The Faith and Freedom Coalition will spend tens of millions of dollars on a voter mobilization effort that aims to register 1 million Christians in key battleground states and reach 30 million people nationwide.

    The group, which is led by conservative activist Ralph Reed, will pump literature into more than 100,000 churches across 18 states, primarily focusing on the presidential battlegrounds but also with an eye on contested House and Senate races.

    A New Toni Morrison Documentary Gives the World’s Greatest Living Writer Her Flowers, and Plants New Seeds

    Toni Morrison had to figure out a way to talk to Muhammad Ali. It was the mid-’70s and at the time, she was his editor, tasked with bringing his autobiography to the world. But Ali wouldn’t speak to her—deferring instead to whatever man was in the room.

    Her longtime friend, author and activist Angela Davis, recalls seeing that dynamic play out—and witnessing Morrison come up with a solution. At the time, Morrison had already published The Bluest Eye and Sula, but it wasn’t her literary heft that she threw at the heavyweight champion. Knowing how much Ali held mother figures in reverence, Morrison, the mother of two boys, spoke to Ali in ways “that reminded him of his mother,” Davis recalls, eventually using this to forge a deep connection to the boxer.

    It’s a story Davis recalls while on the phone with me, and that Morrison tells herself in a new documentary, The Pieces I Am, in theaters this Friday.

    In Davis’ words, the documentary is a “living memorial” to Morrison’s life and work. Directed by Morrison’s friend and photographer Timothy Greenfield-Sanders, what makes The Pieces I Am particularly gratifying is its mosaic quality. Taken from a famous line from her 1987 novel, Beloved, the film acts as a sort of gathering place: You can find archival footage of Morrison talking about her work or responding to critics, close friends like Davis, poet Sonia Sanchez and Oprah recounting treasured anecdotes, and critics like the New Yorker’s Hilton Als contextualizing her work. But most importantly, you can find Morrison herself, gazing directly at the camera, talking to you.

    Morrison retells one such story about her grandmother, who alongside her grandfather, used to work as a sharecropper in Mobile, Ala. One day, Morrison says, her grandmother informed her husband that she and the children would be on a northbound train.

    “White boys are circling, and we have to leave,” Morrison’s grandmother told her husband through a hand-delivered note. “If you want to see us again, be on that train.”

    “The girls were growing up and white boys would come look at them from a distance, but she knew what they had in mind,” Morrison explains to the viewer. The family ended up in Lorain, where Morrison was born, and which would become the setting of her first novel, The Bluest Eye.

        She is one hell of a storyteller. I remember reading “Beloved” for the first time. I could only read a few pages at a time because I was so scared about what would happen next. Then I saw an interview with Ms. Morrison discussing this novel and apparently that is how she wanted the reader to feel.

      Well, we know that Mr. Buttigieg is a media creation. He’s never had the poll numbers to support the amount of attention he gets. I don’t know about his fundraising, I haven’t checked that.

      Most of these candidates already know they aren’t going to win the nomination and they are probably hanging in there for other reasons. And most prominent among those reasons is the VP spot.

      Everything you said is right on the mark! I always had reservations about Buttigieg. Those reservations increased after that officer gunned down an unarmed black man, and I noticed all Buttigieg seemed to be concerned about were optics that might negatively impact his presidential bid. F*ck his presidential bid! A black man is dead who should still be alive and with his family.

    The Trump administration has stopped promoting government-funded research into how higher temperatures can damage crops and pose health risks.

    The Trump administration has refused to publicize dozens of government-funded studies that carry warnings about the effects of climate change, defying a longstanding practice of touting such findings by the Agriculture Department’s acclaimed in-house scientists.

    The studies range from a groundbreaking discovery that rice loses vitamins in a carbon-rich environment — a potentially serious health concern for the 600 million people world-wide whose diet consists mostly of rice — to a finding that climate change could exacerbate allergy seasons to a warning to farmers about the reduction in quality of grasses important for raising cattle.

    All of these studies were peer-reviewed by scientists and cleared through the non-partisan Agricultural Research Service, one of the world’s leading sources of scientific information for farmers and consumers.

    None of the studies were focused on the causes of global warming – an often politically charged issue. Rather, the research examined the wide-ranging effects of rising carbon dioxide, increasing temperatures and volatile weather………………………………….

    I am a knitter. It is more than just my hobby. Knitting has been a core part of my identity since I was five years old, when my grandmother patiently taught me how to make my first garter stitch square. I am also a person of color. Over the past few years, it’s been painful to see the empowerment racists derive from the Trump administration, but even more troubling to see how many people insist that taking a stance against racism is “being political.” And I’ve been a member of Ravelry for 11 years.

    Today the site, which currently counts eight million members, and is one of the most influential online communities dedicated to knitting and other yarn crafts, enacted a policy that explicitly bans support of Donald Trump and his administration in content posted to the site, including project entries, patterns, forum posts and profiles.

    We cannot provide a space that is inclusive of all and also allow support for open white supremacy. Support of the Trump administration is undeniably support for white supremacy.

    Many voters told CNN they had not followed the debate over Biden’s comments or even heard about it at all. When briefed on the details, most shrugged off that Biden said he had worked with segregationists — even though his views were diametrically opposed to theirs — noting that the ability to work with politicians who have opposite views is part of the skill of legislating.

    “They need to leave it be,” said Cheri Reed, a 66-year-old Democrat from Columbia as she waited in line with friends for fish at Clyburn’s event on Friday night. She chided Democrats like New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker, who criticized Biden for his remarks and called on him to apologize.

    “We don’t need a rookie in the game right now. Because it’s the anti-Christ that we’re up against,” Reed said, referring to President Donald Trump. “He’s despicable. He’s destructive. He’s a liar. He’s trigger-happy. He’s everything that you don’t want in a President.”

        Tyler struggled for years to establish his career before he became successful. That some are attacking him for his wealth pisses me off as much as those who attacked PBO for receiving millions for giving a speech. They ran their d@mn mouths about PBO at the same time they ignored the white politicians who were also raking in big bucks. They felt might sh*tty after PBO donated the money for that speech to create jobs for Chicago youth during the summer. Not only did he and his wife donate that speech money, they added millions of their own dollars to the effort. There’s nothing I detest more than implicit bias.
