There Are Concentration Camps. In America. In 2019.

Ametia asked me to write about the Concentration Camps.
That’s what they are. Not going to get into any debate as to what to call them…because, they are Concentration Camps.
On American Soil.
In 2019.

I was watching Chris Hayes on Monday, and he told the story of how we came to know about what was happening in Clint, Texas. This was a facility that should never have had children. It is a facility for adults. It so happened that the lawyers who have been advocating for those in custody, just happened to go to this facility. A facility where the maximum capacity was 104 had over 350 children. That they told them that they had built a new facility to handle the excess. The lawyers looked around, and all they saw was a big building with no windows. They thought, well, that can’t be the place where they are keeping CHILDREN. But it was. They were keeping children in a steel building with no windows.
CHILDREN.

Separated from their parents.
In filthy, unsanitary conditions.
Older children trying to take care of babies.
LITERAL BABIES.

Children getting sick themselves because of the unsanitary conditions.

I have become obsessed with the $775 PER DAY that these criminals are charging. THAT should be in every conversation about this. It should be brought up anytime you speak about the Concentration Camps.

” They’re charging $775 PER DAY, and the government is arguing that they can’t provide SOAP, TOOTHPASTE, CLEAN DIAPERS FOR BABIES AND A BED FOR THEM TO SLEEP?”
NEVER don’t speak about this and NOT bring up the $775 PER DAY.

For $775 per day, I can do a weekend, in a suite, at the FOUR SEASONS, with Spa Services, and eat only in the hotel restaurants.

But children can’t get SOAP, TOOTHPASTE, DIAPERS FOR BABIES AND A BED FOR THEM TO SLEEP.

WHO are the people getting rich on children’s MISERY AND PAIN? Who have they given a kickback for this contract?

Kyle Griffin (@kylegriffin1) Tweeted:
Breaking on @MSNBC: NBC’s Gabe Gutierrez reports 100 migrant children moved out of the Clint, Texas Border Patrol facility, a facility described as “appalling,” have been moved back into that facility. It is unclear where the other children moved out of that facility have gone. https://twitter.com/kylegriffin1/status/1143547058768556032?s=17

They think somebody’s playing with them. They think that they are phucking slick.

And, I still wanna know if their tracking system has gotten better than my local cleaners.

They separated the children from the adults and now have nowhere to put them. They are supposed to be in shelter care thru HHS after 72 hours, but they’re incompetent and no one planned anything so they must bring them back, where they can probably start the clock running again. They may have taken them from one place to another in order to start the clock running again. So they took scared, exhausted, dehydrated children on a series of useless bus rides, to cover their asses.

They didn’t do any planning and now they have hundreds of children in state custody and they can’t care for them, because someone in the Trump Administration didn’t understand that when they put them in a vulnerable position those children became their responsibility. They can’t just release them now. That would be worse.

I hadn’t thought of them moving them and bringing them back, that they ‘restart the clock’ that way.
For me, it comes down to the following:

1. I believe that the number of deaths has been lowballed.
2. It’s about to turn hot hot hot in Texas.
3. More are sure to die because of the heat and the horrendous conditions.
4. I am waiting for mass graves to be revealed.

Here are the top recipients of campaign contributions from the for-profit prison industry:
-Henry Cuellar: $146,740
-Bob Corker: $101,858
-Marsha Blackburn: $101,250
-Marco Rubio: $92,050
-Charlie Crist: $86,450
-Mitch McConnell: $84,900

We must keep up the pressure. Keep on calling your Congressman and Senators. Make sure that they know your disgust at having Concentration Camps opened in America with your tax dollars. Keep on calling them Concentration Camps. The MSM is upset that folks continue to use that term, because they want to do politeness shaming, so that we will shut up and pretend that these are not as bad as they are- looking at you, Chuck Todd. Because, they must provide cover for this Administration that they have been trying to normalize from the very beginning. There is no cover for this. It’s as bad as we believe it to be. In fact, it’s probably worse.

Congress should not approve more money for CBP until they can inspect the shelters in person. Full stop. No planned inspections. Just be able to show up and get in. PERIOD.

We can’t turn our heads away. This nightmare is happening now, and it needs to be constantly exposed. Children’s lives are being destroyed, and as a country, we are committing these sins against the most innocent.

  1. John Kelly: It’s not ‘cruel’ to separate families at the border — children will be ‘put into foster care or whatever’…………

    @schrodingers_cat: From LGM today http://www.lawyersgunsmoneyblog.com/2019/06/home-2:

    Home

    by Warsan Shire

    no one leaves home unless
home is the mouth of a shark.

you only run for the border
when you see the whole city
    running as well.

    your neighbors running faster
than you, the boy you went to school with
    who kissed you dizzy behind
    the old tin factory is
holding a gun bigger than his body,
    you only leave home
when home won’t let you stay.

no one would leave home unless home
    chased you, fire under feet,
    hot blood in your belly.

it’s not something you ever thought about
doing, and so when you did –
you carried the anthem under your breath,
    waiting until the airport toilet
to tear up the passport and swallow,
each mouthful of paper making it clear that
you would not be going back.

    you have to understand,
no one puts their children in a boat
unless the water is safer than the land.

who would choose to spend days
and nights in the stomach of a truck
    unless the miles travelled
    meant something more than journey.

no one would choose to crawl under fences,
be beaten until your shadow leaves you,
raped, then drowned, forced to the bottom of
the boat because you are darker, be sold,
starved, shot at the border like a sick animal,
be pitied, lose your name, lose your family,
make a refugee camp a home for a year or two or ten,
stripped and searched, find prison everywhere
and if you survive and you are greeted on the other side
    with go home blacks, refugees
    dirty immigrants, asylum seekers
sucking our country dry of milk,
    dark, with their hands out
    smell strange, savage –
look what they’ve done to their own countries,
what will they do to ours?

the dirty looks in the street
softer than a limb torn off,
    the indignity of everyday life
more tender than fourteen men who
    look like your father, between
your legs, insults easier to swallow
than rubble, than your child’s body
in pieces – for now, forget about pride
    your survival is more important.

i want to go home, but home is the mouth of a shark
home is the barrel of the gun
and no one would leave home
unless home chased you to the shore
    unless home tells you to
leave what you could not behind,
    even if it was human.

no one leaves home until home
is a damp voice in your ear saying
leave, run now, i don’t know what
    i’ve become.

A lot of those stolen children at the border have US family members, including parents. Tears formed for me, listening to Maddow last night describe the lawyer’s interactions with one child, who had a bracelet with a phone number in permanent marker. NOBODY HAD CALLED THE NUMBER.
    I will say it again….
The clothes you take to the cleaners have a better tracking system than what they are using with these children.

    THE CRUELTY IS THE POINT.
