Weekend Open Thread | Tyler Perry Opening His New Studio

Good Morning. I hope that you are enjoying this weekend with family and friends.

I wanted to take this time to acknowledge the accomplishment of Mr. Tyler Perry. He opened up his new studio down in Georgia. This Black man, from Louisiana, who was abused and homeless. Built up his entertainment empire, and now has opened his second movie studio.👏👏👏👏

You don’t have to be a fan of Mr. Perry’s work to be in awe of his accomplishment. It’s not just what he puts on the screen, but who he is able to hire behind the scenes. People who never thought that they could have a sustained career in entertainment in Georgia. He is making that happen.

Bravo, Mr. Perry.

I am going to say this for the bleacher seats. While there might have been some voters of color that stayed home in 2016…

The number of regular Democratic Party voters who were denied the franchise due to Voter Suppression in 2016 was at least THREE TIMES the size of Dolt45’s “margin of victory” in each of these states.

Stop fetishizing white working class voters in PA/MI/WI. They’re NOT the key to victory. Trump won those by 73k votes. It’s easier to mobilize 100k plus POC who stayed home in ‘16 than to flip that many Trumpers. Flipping means admitting u voted 4 a monster. Folks wont do that. https://twitter.com/timjacobwise/status/1183146247848448002?s=17

Age has always been an issue as far as I’m concerned. My personal opinion, apparently shared by no one, is that the elderly candidates should not have entered the race. And I have to believe this denial of mortality has something to do with a major ego.

It’s in plain sight and for everyone to hear, the AG of the United States is unambiguously using “dominionist” talking points against secularism.

Let. that. sink. in. https://t.co/FTzblk4JuG https://twitter.com/profagagne/status/1182943695231959040?s=17

The Nazi Germany comparison is not unwarranted. I’ve been thinking this myself for some time.

Pure speculation here but I’ll just bet those north Texas redneck lawmen are seething about Amber Guyger. You know, the brotherhood and all that. Plus the possibility the day will come when cops who kill people for no good reason are held accountable.

      Just saying…

I am so angry about this 😠😠
