From the Southern Poverty Law Center:
Stephen Miller’s Affinity for White Nationalism Revealed in Leaked Emails
By Michael Edison Hayden

In the run-up to the 2016 election, White House senior policy adviser Stephen Miller promoted white nationalist literature, pushed racist immigration stories and obsessed over the loss of Confederate symbols after Dylann Roof’s murderous rampage, according to leaked emails reviewed by Hatewatch.

The emails, which Miller sent to the conservative website Breitbart News in 2015 and 2016, showcase the extremist, anti-immigrant ideology that undergirds the policies he has helped create as an architect of Donald Trump’s presidency. These policies include reportedly setting arrest quotas for undocumented immigrants, an executive order effectively banning immigration from five Muslim-majority countries and a policy of family separation at refugee resettlement facilities that the Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Inspector General said is causing “intense trauma” in children.
In this, the first of what will be a series about those emails, Hatewatch exposes the racist source material that has influenced Miller’s visions of policy. That source material, as laid out in his emails to Breitbart, includes white nationalist websites, a “white genocide”-themed novel in which Indian men rape white women, xenophobic conspiracy theories and eugenics-era immigration laws that Adolf Hitler lauded in “Mein Kampf.”
Hatewatch reviewed more than 900 previously private emails Miller sent to Breitbart editors from March 4, 2015, to June 27, 2016. Miller does not converse along a wide range of topics in the emails. His focus is strikingly narrow – more than 80 percent of the emails Hatewatch reviewed relate to or appear on threads relating to the subjects of race or immigration. Hatewatch made multiple attempts to reach the White House for a comment from Miller about the content of his emails but did not receive any reply.
Miller’s perspective on race and immigration across the emails is repetitious. When discussing crime, which he does scores of times, Miller focuses on offenses committed by nonwhites. On immigration, he touches solely on the perspective of severely limiting or ending nonwhite immigration to the United States. Hatewatch was unable to find any examples of Miller writing sympathetically or even in neutral tones about any person who is nonwhite or foreign-born.

Go to the link and read the rest of what they uncovered about Miller.

Now, imagine the discovery of someone in 44’s Administration having been revealed to have links to these kinds of groups, or any kind of group outside the mainstream. The MSM would be howling about how this person needs to resign. Every elected Democrat in the House and Senate would be asked about this person and why they were ever hired by 44. You know it. I know it. So, hell yes, every damn Republican should be questioned about this. Period.

Then again, this discovery by the Southern Poverty Law Center isn’t news for those in the media who covered the KKKeebler Elf, Jeff Sessions when Miller worked for him. Their silence back then is what helped bring along Miller now.

I didn’t know if I really wanted to do a post on this subject, but decided that it was necessary, because I want to make clear to folks on connecting the dots.
This country was built on White Supremacy. Of course, we’ve had racist Presidents. But, those of us who point out that Dolt45 is a racist and a White Nationalist point out the reason that he’s dangerous, and has ALWAYS been dangerous, isn’t that he’s a racist. It’s the POLICIES brought about from that racism and White Nationalism.

Please understand, putting Stephen Miller in charge of immigration has brought us the following. It’s ALL connected. It’s ALL linked. It’s ALL about the purpose of MAKING AMERICA WHITE AGAIN.

We have had 70,000 children in custody this year. THIS YEAR. 70,000 CHILDREN in the immigration system’s custody. 70,000 children whose lives have been disrupted. 70,000 children in a system that has been designed by this administration to inflict as much damage as possible on them. You know, and I know, most of those children are non-White.

I posted some tweets from Senator Tammy Duckworth of Illinois. She spent Veterans Day with veterans who signed up to fight for this country, and THIS Administration has reneged on the promise of citizenship. It’s one of the most racist and shameful things this Administration has done. This Administration – full of chickenshyts who would never put their lives on the line for anything, with the nerve and gall to go back on the promise of citizenship AND deport these folks.

Then, of course, there is DACA. The opening arguments for the case of Dolt45 trying to end DACA arrived at the Supreme Court this week. At risk are 700,000 young people, who were brought here as children. This country is the only home that they know. They were raised here. This might not be the country of their birth, but it is the country of their heart. Where they want to live and participate in society and want to be productive CITIZENS of this country.

Look at the list in the article about the policies that Miller has enacted. Folks like me have been telling you from the beginning that it was NEVER about Criminal Illegals. That believing that was a sucker’s bet. It’s always been about targeting Non-Whites. I don’t know how clearer it must be for you to get that.

I want to remind folks that the Democrats have been willing to do a deal on Immigration Reform since Bush 43 was President. BUSH 43. It has never been an issue for Democrats. They want to do a deal and fix our immigration process.

A BI-PARTISAN deal cannot be reached, because the President is a White Nationalist Racist who has put in place White Nationalist Racist Immigration policies.

There was a Deal on DACA, with THIS President. And it was scuttled by Dolt45, with the encouragement of not just Stephen Miller, but, also because of such racists in the Senate like Tom Cotton.
They do NOT want to fix the immigration problem.

They want to completely change it. They want to once again, build in restrictions with immigration that would take us back to levels not seen since the 1960’s.

They want to MAKE AMERICA WHITE AGAIN.
PERIOD.

Myles Garrett suspended rest of season by NFL after helmet-swinging brawl; Steelers, Browns each fined $250,000
    Tom Schad
    USA TODAY

The NFL announced Friday that it has suspended Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett without pay for the remainder of this season and postseason “at a minimum” after he struck an opposing player with a helmet during Thursday night’s game.

The suspension, which will cover at least six games, is the most severe punishment for a single on-the-field act in NFL history, eclipsing the five-game suspension that Tennessee Titans lineman Albert Haynesworth received in 2006.

“Garrett violated unnecessary roughness and unsportsmanlike conduct rules, as well as fighting, removing the helmet of an opponent and using the helmet as a weapon,” the NFL said in its announcement.

The league also said Garrett must meet with commissioner Roger Goodell’s office prior to reinstatement and has been fined an undisclosed amount.

The NFL also suspended Pittsburgh Steelers offensive lineman Maurkice Pouncey for three games and Cleveland Browns defensive lineman Larry Ogunjobi for their roles in Saturday night’s incident. The league also fined both teams $250,000 and said “additional discipline for other players will be forthcoming.”

Trump-Supporting Republican Strategist Kimberly Klacik Announces Run for Elijah Cummings’ Maryland Seat

Stacey Dash had better look out.

There’s another black beauty coming up in conservative political ranks—and this one is running and gunning for power in what could be a hotly contested election next year.

Rising Republican strategist Kimberly Klacik has announced that she will run for the late Rep. Elijah Cummings’ congressional seat.

“I am throwing my hat on the race for the 7th Congressional District,” Klacik, 37, said according to the Baltimore Sun. “I’ve seen firsthand what a lot of people are going through. Our violent crime is up 52% in Baltimore County and it’s rising in Baltimore City, too. I don’t think it’s a coincidence.”

The outlet noted that the Baltimore County Republican official, who goes by “Kim K for Congress,” does not live in the 7th District but promises to move there from Middle River, where she currently resides, if elected.

America’s “Hidden Figures”—the black women behind NASA’s success in the “Space Race,” continue to be celebrated 50 years after their calculations helped man walk on the moon.

Thanks to the Hidden Figures Congressional Gold Medal Act, NASA mathematician Katherine Johnson, computer programmer Dorothy Vaughan, and engineers Mary Jackson and Christine Darden are being awarded Congressional Gold Medals, the highest civilian award in the United States. The bipartisan bill (pdf), introduced by Senator and presidential hopeful Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), among others, was signed into law by President Donald Trump on Friday.

Yeahhh, Lil Nas X Is Gonna Take His Historic 2019 CMA Award to the ‘Old Town Road’

    Tonja RenĂŠe Stidhum

Lil Nas X is still riding the winning wave until he can’t no more.

“Old Town Road (Remix)” scored the 2019 Country Music Association (CMA) Award for Musical Event of the Year, which means Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus both took home awards on Wednesday night. Producers Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross of Nine Inch Nails, as well as YoungKio, will also receive statuettes since the award is typically presented to both the artist and producer.

And that’s not all: According to Billboard, Lil Nas X made history, too, becoming the first hip-hop artist to ever win that award.

8 Reflections on SpelHouse’s Blessed and Highly Favored 2019 Homecoming

    Panama Jackson
    10/29/19 10:19AM

This past weekend in the capital of African America—Atlanta—a gathering of Black Excellence took place on hallowed grounds in the city’s West End neighborhood. SpelHouse, the famed and noble portmanteau of two of Black America’s most illustrious and storied institutions—Morehouse College and Spelman College—celebrated its annual homecoming. For those of us who come every year to bask in a tradition unlike any other, it’s a time of soulful rejuvenation and spiritual replenishment. For those who have never been or only come sporadically, it’s both an opportunity to reintroduce ourselves and/or show you how we do this, son.

Since HBCU Homecoming SZN is my favorite time of the year and because, SpelHouse’s Homecoming, in particular, is (of course) my favorite, I’d like to share some reflections from this past weekend…coming all the way live from Westview Drive.

    1. There’s literally no way I can do this without starting with the most obvious. I’m not saying God (or whoever you pray to) loves SpelHouse Homecoming more than any other institution’s homecoming. What I will say, though, is that God clearly loves SpelHouse’s Homecoming. For two straight years, we had rain in the forecast for our tailgate on Saturday. At SpelHouse, that’s our big thing—if you pay attention to Black Homecomings, there is no doubt you’ve seen pictures of our tailgate.

For two years, I’ve even written prayers, asking for God and Mother Nature to spare us. AND FOR TWO STRAIGHT YEARS, God came through. Every single person who was coming down had been GLUED to various weather forecasts and all of us had been holding out hope that we’d be spared; lo and behold, the rain held off until around 5 pm this Saturday and once it stopped, the whole homecoming revved ALL THE WAY BACK UP. I’m not saying that God even listens to me ‘pacifically, but errrrrrrum…you’re welcome, SpelHouse.

    2. There is absolutely no feeling like that of wading through the waters in The Sea of Black Excellence that is the bazillion black folks on our campus for the tailgate. Whew, Lawd. Seeing faces of folks I barely know but I know because we spent a whole four years in the same spot together trying to make it in America is awesome. We may dap each other up or share a sincere hug once a year, but that bond can definitely get you to next October. And if that doesn’t work (and you’re not already), go on ahead and hop into that Morehouse & Spelman Facebook group that has literally become the first thing I check when I get on Facebook 60 percent of the time, every time. Point is, it feels good—and if loving homecoming is wrong then I don’t want to be right.

The Lady and Her Music: Lena Horne’s Legacy Endures in the First Major Entertainment Award Named for a Woman of Color

In the history of Hollywood, there are few talents as multifaceted as actress, singer, dancer and legendary beauty Lena Horne. In her decadeslong career, the four-time Grammy-winner was known for her iconic renditions of songs like
“Stormy Weather”—and her starring role in the 1943 film of the same name. Also honored with a Kennedy Center Honor and NAACP Image Award, among other accolades, Horne would also win a Tony Award for her one-woman show, Lena Horne: The Lady and Her Music, which ran for more than three hundred performances on Broadway.

But as luminous as Horne was on stage and screen, she was an equally fierce presence in the fight for civil rights. During World War II, she refused to perform for segregated audiences of troops, eventually leaving the USO in protest. In the ‘60s, she would regularly protest alongside iconic activists like Medgar Evers and Martin Luther King, Jr.; joined the DNC on a visit to then-President John F. Kennedy; and spoke and performed on the dais at the March on Washington.

Now, Horne’s immense talent and unwavering commitment to social justice are being recognized with a history-making honor: New York City’s landmark performing arts theater The Town Hall has announced the inaugural Lena Horne Prize for Artists Creating Social Impact. The award, “honoring excellence at the intersection of arts and activism,” was created to “recognize today’s leading artists that are using their platform to promote awareness and create social change,” according to a press release, which also read:

The Crown Morehouse College Is Trying to Reach

    Panama Jackson
    11/07/19 2:15PM

As both Morehouse College and Spelman College celebrated their annual homecoming in late October—usually more than reason enough for me to make the trip to Atlanta—I had a little extra pep in my homecoming step. The weekend also coincided with Morehouse College’s “Experience The House” open house for prospective students and parents, and one of my nephews decided to attend. He’s a high school senior in Madison, Ala., and trying to decide where to take his talents after graduation.

For that reason, I decided to come to Atlanta a day earlier than normal (Thursday), and attend some of the panel talks and see how we sell the idea of Morehouse firsthand. From my perch as a graduate and as somebody who has seen how the school has impacted my life almost 20 years after graduating, it seems like the easiest sell on Earth; I literally would not be where I am today without Morehouse College. To drive that point home: I literally started blogging because I met VSB co-founder Liz Burr and struck up a friendship with her the old-school stalker way, via AOL Instant Messenger, where she told me to start blogging. I found her, though, on the blogroll of one of my friends—Calvin Smith—from, not only Morehouse College but the pre-freshman summer program for science, math and engineering that we were both invited to. I owe my career to a friendship I made at Morehouse College in the summer of 1997 that continues to this day.

But that’s all retrospect. I know the benefits because I experienced them as a student and continue to experience them in myriad ways as an adult. My nephew and the 100 or so other prospective students got a front-row seat to a bunch of Morehouse students and graduates saying all of the things that I’ve been preaching to anybody who will listen for years.

And you know what? It’s effective as hell. I’m not saying that my nephew is heading to Atlanta’s West End neighborhood in August—he still has to get accepted and Morehouse is exponentially more expensive now than it was when I went there (though I was on scholarship), so financial concerns are a thing—but it’s impossible to hear what he heard and see what he saw and not feel in some way that there is no better place to be a young black man learning than 830 Westview Drive SW. Hell, I wanted to go back to Morehouse (well, I didn’t want to go back to class) after sitting through panels and listening to my classmates talk about what Morehouse meant to them.
