Open Thread | So…The Saturday Night Massacre Just Happened…

ICYMI while watching returns from the non-important state of New Hampshire….this happened:

ALL FOUR of the prosecutors on the Roger Stone case resigned after the fake azz criminal known as the Attorney General interfered with the sentencing guidelines for Roger Stone.

Barr is corrupt. Has always been corrupt. But, the obviousness was too much for these career DOJ folks.

Time for the IG to open an investigation into Barr.
Time for Congress to Impeach Barr.

The Trial of Henry Kissinger by Christopher Hitchens

      Summary
In the words of Hitchens, Kissinger deserves prosecution “for war crimes, for crimes against humanity, and for offenses against common or customary or international law, including conspiracy to commit murder, kidnap, and torture.”[1] He further calls him “a stupendous liar with a remarkable memory.”[2]

The book takes the form of a prosecutorial document, as Hitchens limits his critique to such charges as he believes might stand up in an international court of law following precedents set at Nuremberg and elsewhere. These link Kissinger to war casualties in Vietnam, massacres in Bangladesh and Timor and assassinations in Chile, Cyprus, and Washington, D.C.

The book is written from an authorial position of moral outrage, and calls for Americans not to ignore Kissinger’s record. In the author’s words, “They can either persist in averting their gaze from the egregious impunity enjoyed by a notorious war criminal and lawbreaker, or they can become seized by the exalted standards to which they continually hold everyone else.”[3]

@meganmesserly @Culinary226 @BernieSanders I represent a lot of union workers. Too many of them believed Trump in 2016. If Bernie tries to take away their healthcare, put them even with people that don’t work, and raise their taxes to boot it will be a bloodbath. https://twitter.com/CareyLawLS/status/1227450775871410176?s=20

Ain’t it funny that 3 of the remaining candidates have not always been Democrats. Two are former GOPers & one is an an Independent. Perhaps when they are discussing the change in rules for 2024, being an actual Democrat who has done the work should be a requirement. https://twitter.com/lynnv378/status/1227904051922296832?s=20

    S. Epatha’s ancestors were part of the Georgetown University slaves. They traced her ancestry back to 1777…a year after the beginning of the American Revolution. And, folks dare to purse their lips on how we should ‘go back to Africa’.

Phuck Outta Here-we are a Founding Population of this country. Our ancestors built it.😒😒

Nate again. Not too much in the way of polling for SC and NV just yet. But I suspect Biden will win SC but not by the margin we assumed before Iowa and NH. It might just kill me to say this but I also suspect NV has shifted in favor of “Pete and Amy” getting much higher percentages than previously expected. I guess we have to see what happens in SC.

My humble opinion of Iowa and New Hampshire…

Iowa is essentially a tie between Bernie and Pete. Bernie clearly won NH but not by a significant margin. Nonetheless, for the time being, Bernie is the front runner.

Pete is getting most of the attention with Amy K second. Amy K is being praised for her “brilliant” debate performance. And this should account for her “surge” to third place? Seriously? This is how people vote?

I can’t really explain Pete, but I have to believe he is the beneficiary of most of the other candidates being so old. I knew from the get go that age would have to become an issue although I thought it was more likely that one of them would just croak while campaigning.

Do y’all remember Ann Kirkpatrick, the Democrat handpicked by the leadership who won AZ CD2, my congressional district? She was 68 when she won. Well, a few weeks ago she fell and hurt herself pretty badly and admitted it was related to alcoholism. She’s now in rehab but plans to run again this year. This is the kind of thing that makes me livid.

The median age in the US is 38.

I would imagine there are a lot of people who want to see some younger candidates.
