Brilliant NASA mathematician Katherine Johnson has passed away at the age of 101.
What a life she had. What she saw in her 101 years.
I am ashamed that I consider myself an educated person, and I had no idea about Ms. Johnson until Hidden Figures came out. In an era where Black people were invisible, Mrs. Johnson’s brain broke down barriers.
I am so happy that she lived long enough to see her get the accolades while she was still alive.
Thank you for blazing the trail for others, Mrs. Johnson.

Katherine Johnson, the venerated NASA mathematician who was depicted in the film “Hidden Figures,” died Monday, NASA said in a tweet. She was 101.
“Ms. Johnson helped our nation enlarge the frontiers of space even as she made huge strides that also opened doors for women and people of color in the universal human quest to explore space,” said NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine in a statement.
“At NASA we will never forget her courage and leadership and the milestones we could not have reached without her.”
In recent years, her accomplishments were bolstered by the visibility of the film starring Taraji P. Henson, playing Johnson, and Octavia Spencer

NASA hid 3 Black women from the world for decades. They didn’t want to show the world Black people were intelligent. If it had been white men that were responsible for getting John Glenn to the moon and back, we would know everything about them from their great grandparents to their parents.
I’m so happy Katherine was credited for her accomplishments while she was alive, even though it came decades later when she was aged in years. They won’t be hidden ever again!
