Maintain physical distance
Stay out as short amount of time as possible
Keep set of clothes only for outside home use
Strip at door, clothing in washer, shower immediately upon return

      I actually disagree with Mr. Chomsky’s statement. (How dare I?)

      The conservative corporate Democrats have a HUGE problem with the policies. They hate and despise Medicare for All to the extent it would exclude or diminish the role of private insurance companies. Conservative corporate Democrats are beholden to those companies as well as pharmaceuticals. Hence, Joe Biden’s assurance that “nothing is going to fundamentally change.” And, he’s right.

      Wait until the bills come in for all this coronavirus treatment people are getting.

    Oh, but there are options. First, there’s 90’s vintage COBRA that they can’t afford because they have no job or income. There’s the ACA where they can get a subsidy to be under insured. And, if they have less than $2,000 in assets (not counting home and car) they can qualify for Medicaid. Or they can wash their hands all day and pray they don’t get the coronavirus.

    Pete, Amy, and Joe: People who like their employer’s insurance should be able to keep it.

      What is so astonishing is that these “progressive” ideas should be mainstream, they should be our way of life. People should have healthcare, a living wage, access to higher education, clean water and clean air to breathe…

      The conservative corporate Democratic leadership tells us there is no way to pay for Medicare for All. But we are already paying more for healthcare than any nation in the world. We pay to administer thousands of insurance plans with infinite combinations of co-pays and deductibles. We pay for the huge profits of insurance companies and pharmaceuticals. We pay for under insurance, the elephant in the room that everyone tries to ignore.

      In the meantime, people who were hospitalized during this pandemic will eventually receive the bills. Wait til you hear about that. And what happens when this virus invades rural areas where they don’t even have doctors or emergency rooms? Our for profit driven healthcare system sees no profit in rural areas.

      Tell me again (Pete, Amy, Joe) about how all those people who are in love with their employer provided insurance should get to keep it. But what happens when they lose their job overnight because of a pandemic?

      In the meantime, people are lining up in droves at food banks. Feeding America needs donations.

    So Bernie Sanders has ended his campaign. Somehow it feels like the end of an era.

    I never understood all the hate that got slung his way on social media. The conservative corporate Democrats who rule the party, the ones who in their great wisdom cleared the path for Hillary Clinton, were NEVER going to allow Bernie Sanders to get the Democratic nomination. For awhile it looked as though the nominee would be decided at the convention, and the Democratic leaders were going to make damn sure it wasn’t Bernie, no matter what.

    I will always associate Bernie Sanders with “progressive” policy ideas that should be mainstream now that we are 20 years into the 21st century. Y’all know what I’m talking about, Medicare for All, a living wage for all workers, equal access to higher education,etc…Bernie stood for some very basic and not particularly radical ideas that would advance social, economic, and environmental justice in a country that is falling farther and farther behind.

    And the dirty secret is out now that we have a pandemic. The so called American Dream hasn’t been such a dream for tens of millions of Americans. Just ask Google how many Americans live paycheck to paycheck for starters. How many Americans have no savings?

    I’m watching film footage on the news showing the endless lines of cars at food banks these past few days because they have no jobs and no money. This is the wealthiest nation on Earth? How many Americans suffered food insecurity BEFORE the pandemic? The thought of even ONE hungry child in this country makes me angry. How many children depended on school lunches for their main meal of the day BEFORE the pandemic?

    And who is dying from this coronavirus? When all the data is in you can bet it will mostly be those who had untreated or poorly treated underlying illness (respiratory, cardiac, diabetes, hypertension, etc…) and much of this will be attributable to not having access to proper healthcare. Now how are we going to fix that? The public option? This doesn’t get fixed until we, 1.) Recognize healthcare as a human right, and 2.) Remove the stranglehold that private insurance companies and pharmaceuticals have on healthcare delivery.

    The conservative, corporate Democrats who rule the party want a conservative candidate. Okay, so be it, they generally get what they want.

    Joe “nothing is going to fundamentally change” Biden is their guy and I will vote for whoever is the Democratic nominee. I always do. But I’d like to see Biden crawl out from wherever he is and start convincing some folks he’s got the leadership chops and the stamina to REBUILD THIS NATION because that is what will have to be done. And he needs to start embracing some “progressive” ideas if he wants to unite the so-called Left. The fact that he’s not Trump isn’t enough.

    Truthfully, I’m not too optimistic.

    As for Bernie Sanders, much respect. You’re a good man, Mr. Sanders. Thank you for inspiring tens of millions of Americans to think about a better direction for the nation.

    I strongly suspect that one day there will be a documentary about Sanders similar to the one that was done for George McGovern, “One Bright Shining Moment: The Forgotten Summer of George McGovern.”
