I would love for the kids to back to school. I want Peanut back in schoo!. But, we need to be mindful of why schools closed in the first place. Those other countries cited as examples of why we should open ours—-THEY HANDLED THEIR BUSINESS AND TOOK CARE OF COVID-19. Their daily case load doesn’t look like America’s.😠😷😠😷
Like everyone, I am desperate to send my kids back to school. Remote learning is hard on my wife and me, and terrible for our kids. If we thought it were safe to do so, we wouldn't hesitate. But there's no way we're going to risk their health or ours IF IT'S NOT SAFE. https://t.co/IKXcn2yaSN

So thinking that our school, much less *every* school, could realistically adhere to the kind of rigorous distancing, masking, airflow, hygiene, etc etc etc standards that would be required to reopen amidst significant ongoing transmission…WITHIN THE NEXT 6 WEEKS….. pic.twitter.com/zPrDuipY1q

Most countries that have reopened schools have done so with significant modifications: pic.twitter.com/82WL6JzRxA

Denmark has seen little impact of school reopening on transmission – but reopened with 1) significant modification to school protocols and 2) low overall transmission. pic.twitter.com/lMDhiU5LlB

Overall takeaway (with admittedly thin evidence available) reaffirms that schools can be sources of transmission, and the safest way to reopen them is with low local transmission and meaningful adaptations to enhance safety. We're not doing well on either of those in the US.

They have guidance from @CDCgov but the hard work & resources following that guidance for safe or altered re-opening will require are not worth the effort? Is this another "personal responsibility" thing where parents have to make a choice between their jobs & their kids safety?

U.S. approach on Covid is a tale of two cities. Some states like CT, NY, MA sought to crush virus; some like FL, TX, AZ sought the Swedish model and tried to manage spread to the less vulnerable. Without a more uniform U.S. approach, it’ll be hard for either strategy to work. https://t.co/MMk81uJOin

We do not know yet if there is long-term brain damage to children infected by COVID19 — even asymptomatic kids.
Please do not let President* Trump experiment with our children’s health by ordering them to go to schools without a safety plan. #NotMyChildpic.twitter.com/rkAKIQA1Fl

We’ve tolerated the Fox right wing disinformation and propaganda for a long time. Apparently it has something to do with freedom of speech.
We are now learning the true cost of our tolerance.

Found this at another blog:
Someone wrote about the stress Dr. Fauci is under, caused by the current administration and how many of his TV appearances are being cancelled by the White House. She got an address for The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and thought we all should send him a Thank You card…by mail. The postage purchased will help the USPS and the cards may make Dr. Fauci’s day and let him know how much he’s respected and appreciated by most Americans.
If you’re interested, send a card to:

Here’s another thing in this ‘ the schools must open’ bullshyt:
my sister’s teacher friends -a whole lot of them are taking a serious look at the hit they would take financially if they retire now, versus the 2-3 years they thought they would be teaching.
A LOT of them.
And, I don’t blame them.
Being short financially vs. LIVING
I smell a whole lot of retirements coming on…and who are they going to get to replace them?
SO angry, when I look at the rest of the world.
THEY took care of business.
We had Dolt45 and his merry band of idiots.
All those GOP Governors who talked mad shyt about New York and Cuomo, and look at their states.
We are in the same position.
NOT ENOUGH PPE
NOT ENOUGH TESTS
HOSPITAL CAPACITY
But, before, when it was Democratic Governors, they spoke up.
All this shyt is happening to GOP Governors, and they aren’t saying shyt!
