We here at 3CHICS are all about
THE VOTING PLAN.

Do you have a VOTING PLAN for the November 2020 Election?

If you have one, have you made sure that those close to you have one?

A FrontPager over at Balloon Juice came up with a fantastic idea.
A list of 85 things that WE, as regular citizens, can do in our part of the world, to work towards free and fair elections.

Taking Action: List of Things We Can Do
A few recent quotes to help keep us grounded:

We’ve been living under the thumb of an abuser for four years. Trump winning at all was a traumatically horrible surprise. We’ve all got PTSD from Hell, and are inclined to trust nothing because the hits keep coming from nowhere. But the well established fact is, these are not evil masterminds. They are not Lex Luthor. They’re shitlords. ~Frankensteinbeck 8/9

Another thing is that we have agency. We can act, speak, demonstrate, vote, etc. We are not merely inert vessels to be act upon by malign forces. Even saying “fuck you, you can’t beat me,” under your breath is an act of resistance to incipient tyranny and one I recommend that people start with whenever they start feeling defeated. ~Omnes Omnibus 8/9

This is a hard moment. Not because of this morning’s nonsense but because of all the threats we face through this election. We cannot control everything that happens to us, either individually or in our civic existence. But we can avoid losing battles in our own heads before they even start. Let’s not do that. Don’t cower. ~Josh Marshall 7/30

You don’t have to do all the list. Pick 2, 3. And then, next week, pick a different 2 or 3. Share the list with others. We can do this. Despite the voter suppression, and the foreign interference, we can do this. We can get the Orange Menace and his GOP collaborators out of office on November 3rd.

ALL HANDS ON DECK.
Get yourself A VOTING PLAN.

THere is a poster from Malaysia, who posts about the daily numbers about his country. I realized that I liked reading his posts because I wanted to be reassured that somewhere out there in the world, there were people in government who took it seriously.
    Malaysia has 32 million people.
    They have had…..
    To date…

Not surprisingly, Jacob Blake has severe injuries in addition to the paralysis.

“I lay on the bed close to him. We talked about him being paralyzed from the waist down. He wanted a dog and I said, ‘We will get you a dog, baby.’”

Lawyers acting for the Blake family have said Jacob Blake has a damaged spinal cord, spine, stomach, kidneys and liver, has lost most of his colon and has no bowel or genital function.

All they’ve got is trash talk and bullsh!t to run on.

It’s not like Trump can run on his record. His “beautiful economy” won’t sell. Rebuilding the “beautiful economy” won’t sell either.

So it’s going to be the anarchy angle. Trump stands between the good people and all out anarchy which is supported by the Democrats. There you have it.

“..Melania Trump recently “spearheaded” the renovation of a small, iconic plot of land, the Rose Garden at the White House? The outdoor redo came during a deadly pandemic, and an unprecedented economic collapse in America, but the landscaping project was treated as very big news. CNN published no less than four shrubbery updates this summer.

The flattering Rose Garden attention came as Trump spoke at the Republican National Convention on Tuesday night, a move that generated more feel-good press. The Washington Post suggested she could be Donald Trump’s “secret weapon” on the campaign trail this year, and that a speech from the singularly uninspiring Melania Trump could represent a high-point of the convention.

A proud Birther who for half a year refused to move into the White House until she negotiated a more lucrative prenuptial agreement with her husband, Trump, who oversees an anti-cyber bullying public awareness campaign, has stood by silently while Donald Trump has relentlessly mocked and bullied people online, including children. Yet she’s mostly been greeted with pleasing press coverage — or at the very least, Beltway press coverage that asks very few pointed question of a woman who refuses to turn away from her husband’s misogyny, and supports his anti-democratic and corrupt administration.

Kate Bennett, who covers Trump for CNN, finds the First Lady to be “free,” and according to a Post review of Bennett’s book about Trump, “wickedly intelligent,” “an independent thinker,” “pragmatic, confident, warmer than she often appears and excellent with children.”

She’s a stout enabler of the politics of hate, and she gets a pass from the press.

Unlike Hillary Clinton, whose marriage was put under a high-powered media microscope during the 1990’s impeachment controversy, when Beltway pundits published mountains of columns demanding to know why she stayed with her unfaithful husband, Trump is rarely second-guessed in the press.

That intrusive coverage continued after the Clinton’s left the White House — in 2006 the New York Times interviewed more than 50 people for an 1,800-word news article about “the state of their marriage.”

By contrast, Melania Trump’s personal life has been effectively sealed off from media scrutiny. This, despite the fact that the Trump’s sleep in separate bedrooms, and Donald Trump has been chronically unfaithful to his wife, often paying for sex while he was married. State of the Trump Marriage news coverage? It doesn’t exist, as the topic is politely ignored.

The Beltway press signaled very early on that it was going to treat Melania with kid gloves. After Donald Trump won the election, Melania made the stunning announcement that she wasn’t going to move into the White House with her husband, insisting the move was to benefit her son. “Melania wants to stay in New York while her son goes to school,” a friend told People. It was later reported that Melania used Donald’s election win as “leverage” to get more money out of him.

Can you even imagine the media hailstorm that would have erupted for weeks and months if Michelle Obama had announced in late 2008 that she refused to move into the White House when Barack Obama was inaugurated? And then we found out the delay tactic was because Obama wanted to squeeze more money from her husband? Until Melania, a First Lady refusing to live at the White House was, of course, inconceivable. But the press went out of its way to normalize her no-show appearance.

Back in May, the Post ran another glowing profile of the First Lady, insisting she had “found her voice” during the Covid-19 pandemic because she had posted comments on social media urging people to wear masks. In other words, she had done the absolutely bare minimum at a time of national crisis — a crisis her husband made worse everyday. But that minimal effort was enough for the Post to sing her praise.

Fast forward three months, and Trump last week hosted a highly publicized event at the White House where she refused to wear a mask, as did most of the people in attendance, thereby sending a dangerous message that the pandemic threat has passed.

Melania Trump deserves just as much media scrutiny as her recent predecessors, if not more given Donald Trump’s radical behavior. Not a Beltway press corps that normalizes her tenure..”

It’s always been broadcast.. that some who cast themselves as ‘astute’ political observers and ‘political commentators’ would want to have us believe that they’ve only just begun to notice.. or that as with Tucker Carlson, that it only just started happening, or that it’s somehow ‘novel’ or ‘shocking’.. when that’s been entirely the basis of the likes of Tucker Carlson’s media presence, and what’s kept his brazenly racist white supremacist ilk ‘relevant’..

It would all be amusing if it wasn’t so sad/disingenuous, that it’s only taken a recent temporary alignment of self-serving political interests by some of the usual suspects and key players.. including some of the same mainstream purveyors of racism and white supremacy.. for these folks to begin to pretend to notice.. to act all ‘horrified’, ‘outraged’ and to ‘care’..

      • Liza says:

How can someone be alive for only 17 years and already be a monster? Well, perhaps he has had nothing but bad influence in his life probably starting at home. Now he’s getting 15 minutes of recognition from white supremacy and, if there is justice, he will spend the remainder of his life in a cell. He’ll have a very long time to think about whether or not it was worth it. Since he was friendly with the cops he perhaps thought he could get away with anything that night.

        • eliihass says:

How is he evil, you ask..?

He’s the product of a wide array of actively corrupting influence: those who from cradle teach him, mentor him, and those who now after he’s so callously murdered 2 in cold blood, and maimed one, cheerlead and effusively defend him.. and those ‘role models’ like the cowardly treasonous buffoon who’ve outsourced their racist hate objectives …and model for him on television and at rallies, what ‘tough’, ‘christian’, ‘patriotic’, faux-strongman, White supremacy – unchallenged, looks like..

True. Most of the perpetrators are grown “men”, at least in the biological sense. But 17 is old enough to know murder is wrong and there will be consequences. This kid is a monster.

        • eliihass says:

The RNC convention is a chilling reminder that there’s an entire cross-section of this country – including the so-called “religious” …”christians”.. who embody, fully endorse and will do everything to preserve all of this evil..

This is a chilling reminder and early alert that ought to be heeded.. some of the seemingly more ‘reasonable’, ‘good neighborly’ librarian, teacher, principal, nurse, doctor, grandma types who you’d
never guess were all in with this, speaking so matter of factly in complete support of this rogue Vlad asset while going along with all of the gaslighting at the RNC kkk convention.. if that’s not a reminder for those who already know, and a wake-up call for those who’ve pretended not to notice..

There exists, several alternate universes in this country… and stuff is happening all at once..

I fear that the genie can’t be put back in the bottle… I fear that this country and that fragile union… and any gains made. and the sense that we were working on it and towards healing it..

Any pretense at that, has all but flittered away..

The damage that’s been done by this treasonous buffoon and the corrupt cohort that’s helped finesse, implement and deliver
on his and their wishlist.. that damage is deep and I hate to say it, mostly irreversible..

      • Liza says:

I’ve been having similar thoughts about irreversible damage.

I also keep thinking that even if we could re-imagine our Reconstruction, and there are certainly people who are capable of doing so, the head count of those who “fully endorse and will do everything to preserve all of this evil” is just too damn high.

So much has been squandered, recklessly and stupidly squandered for no good reason.

      • Liza says:

The Trumps have destroyed so much and they continue on their rampage, at least until next January. But that woman (of “I really don’t care do u?” fame) destroying the Rose Garden shows that absolutely nothing will be spared by this despicable crime family.

Just think, if someone said this to you four years ago: “The White House Rose Garden will be destroyed by foreign born pornography model.” You wouldn’t have believed it but now it’s the new normal. Everything the Trumps do becomes the new normal.

        • eliihass says:

We are living in an Orwellian nightmare that we can’t seem to wake up from.. worse, an enabling and complicit media is not only in on it, but ready and willing to do whatever it takes to help deliver whatever is left of this already thoroughly defiled country and what will soon be its carcass, to those who own
them, pay their salaries, give them their t.v gigs..
