March on Washington
The March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom took place in front of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington and called for civic and economic rights for African-Americans. The event culminated with Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech. (Leonard Freed via Library of Congress /August 28, 1963)
