  6. Fox News Anchor Leaves Network Amid Reports Of Temper Tantrums

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/09/16/brian-wilson-fox-news-anc_n_719407.html

Brian Wilson, a longtime Fox News anchor and correspondent, is leaving the network under a cloud of rumors about his temper.

FishbowlDC reported Wednesday that Wilson had been suspended from his role as weekend anchor of “America’s News Headquarters” and had decided not to return. He had not been seen on the air since July 28.

Wilson sent an e-mail to his Fox News colleagues, writing, “After 25 years with the company, I have decided it’s time to move on…it has been a blast.”

According to FishbowlDC, Wilson had a number of incidents involving his temper, including when he had a brief stint as Washington bureau chief, where he reportedly had several outbursts that made people around him feel threatened. These incidents apparently continued after he stepped down from that position:

“…Wilson went haywire when a producer tried to replace a shot in one of his TV packages. Wilson reportedly “yelled” and “kicked a chair”…sources say Fox News employees said they wouldn’t feel comfortable if Wilson returned to Fox News. One woman told HR that ‘it’s the corporate culture that covers up for these white men behaving badly.'”

  8. Bruni: Michelle Obama Called 1st Lady Gig “Hell”

    http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2010/09/16/earlyshow/leisure/celebspot/main6871675.shtml

(CBS/AP) French first lady and former model Carla Sarkozy-Bruni is quoted as saying in a new book that Michelle Obama told her life as a president’s wife was “hell,” according to the Daily Mail newspaper.

The book says Sarkozy-Bruni asked Mrs. Obama what life was like for her since her husband, Barack Obama, won the U.S. presidency.

“Don’t ask. It’s hell. I can’t stand it,” Sarkozy-Bruni claims Mrs. Obama responded, the newspaper reports.

The remarks come in a book entitled “Carla and the Ambitious,” by Michael Darmon and Yves Derai, written “in collaboration with Miss Bruni,” the Daily Mail says.

The book says the exchange occurred during a visit to the White House by the French first couple last March.

      • The haters will never learn….

I find the timing of this article about what Carla Bruni Sarkozy said is suspect. I see you haters!

First Lady Michelle is about to hit the campaign trail with the Dems and the insecure rabid opposition is trying to drum up controversy. The stupifying GOP must have really short memories? It didn’t work back then, when you tried to twist the FLOTUS’ words about how she felt towards this country and it won’t work now. Come up with a better plan mofos. Or, just admit you’re scared bishes because they don’t call her the closer for nothing! She’s getting ready to reel in the voters with her postive message. So, just in case you’re mad about it…. and foam is bubbling around your mouth…bite me!

      • Ametia says:

LOL! They’re using the same old tired ass tactics. No strategy, just sorry fear-mongering, childish tactics.

      • Do your thing, FLOTUS! Rock on!

  9. Christine O’Donnell Slams Welfare, Pop Culture: You Can Legislate Morality

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/09/16/christine-odonnell-slams-_n_719201.html

Newly elected Republican Senatorial candidate Christine O’Donnell has raised eyebrows in her brief turn in the public spotlight by promoting a position on cultural issues that borders on the extreme or the bizarre. By and large, however, her political platforms have been characterized as, basically, movement conservatism.

In the New York Time’s profile of her candidacy, for example, the authors meandered through some of the crazier quotes from O’Donnell’s past (such as her screeds against masturbation) before noting her desire to “repeal the health care law, create health care vouchers for veterans and block any attempts at cap-and-trade legislation.”

Dig a little deeper into her past record, however, and one gets the sense that O’Donnell’s legislative outlook is basically scripted by her social and religious views. In a C-SPAN appearance the Huffington Post unearthed from December 1996, the Delaware Republican said it was a “misconception that you, quote unquote, can’t legislate morality.”

  10. Are Angry Conservatives Primed for Violence? Even Against Their Own?

    http://www.timwise.org/2010/09/are-angry-conservatives-primed-for-violence-even-against-their-own/

As we head into the fall election season, stories from Nevada and Delaware suggest that some of the loving, peaceful souls in the Tea Party faction of the right are prepared to turn violent if they don’t get their way: and not merely against evil liberals and leftists, but against those in their own party who are insufficiently committed to their wingnut world view.

To wit, the GOP chair in Delaware who was threatened with a “bullet in the head” for supporting the establishment Republican candidate, rather than the ultra-right wing Christine O’Donnell.

And then there’s Danny Tarkanian, who lost in the Nevada Senate primary to Sharron Angle. Tarkanian notes that as he was going around the state there were conservative activists angry with him for being unwilling to advocate armed rebellion against the government.

So is this what we have to look forward to if the far right doesn’t get it’s way in November, or other elections? Do they turn violent if they don’t win, or don’t convince enough of their own to support their far-right views? Worth considering…it appears they are prepared to eat their own, which can only leave us guessing as to what they would do to the rest of us…

  11. President Obama’s Children’s Book “Of Thee I Sing” Penned Before Presidency?

    http://politics-and-world-5678.blogspot.com/2010/09/president-obamas-childrens-book-of-thee.html#comments

President Obama’s new children’s book “Of Thee I Sing” was written for his daughters. The president, if nothing else, is a fabulous father that adores his little girls. The new book, according to a press release from Random House Publishers, will become available to the public on November 16, 2010.

The President didn’t undertake this endeavor as a mean to pad his own pocket. On the contrary, he claims he will donate all proceeds to charity or a scholarship foundation.

  12. How Many Muslims Contributed To New Right-Wing ‘Team B’ Report On Islamic Sharia Law? None

    http://thinkprogress.org/2010/09/15/team-b-sharia-report/#comments

The Washington Times’ Bill Gertz reports that “A panel of national security experts who worked under Republican and Democratic presidents is urging the Obama administration to abandon its stance that Islam is not linked to terrorism, arguing that radical Muslims are using Islamic law to subvert the United States.” The report, titled Sharia: The Threat To America, was released today by the Center for Security Policy, a think tank led by Washington Times columnist and noted conspiracy theorist Frank Gaffney.

At an event earlier today on Capitol Hill, retired Lt. Gen. Soyster introduced the report by admitting, “I’m here out of ignorance. Three years ago I realized how little I knew about Islam.” Soyster said he “went to some classes,” and “the more I learned, the worse it got.”

Noting some of the report’s broad and controversial claims about Islamic law, such as that all devout Muslims are duty-bound to wage jihad against unbelievers, ThinkProgress asked Gaffney how many actual Muslims or Islamic scholars he and his group had consulted with in writing the report. He could not name any, though he noted that he had consulted with various Muslims “over the years.”

So there you have it. A report on the threat posed by Islamic law to the United States, one of whose leaders admits to having started studying Islam only three years ago, whose authors admit consulting with no actual Muslims, produced by a think tank that has previously claimed that key members of the Obama administration are part of the Iran Lobby.

  13. Glenn Beck To Fat People: ‘I Say Let Them Die’

    http://thinkprogress.org/2010/09/15/beck-obesity-die/#comments

Since First Lady Michelle Obama unveiled her Let’s Move! program to fight obesity, conservatives have portrayed the effort as a government assault on personal freedoms and liberties. After the administration released a report on obesity in May, Matt Drudge ran a headline saying, “White House seeks controls on food marketing” and on his Fox News show, Sean Hannity asked: “Does every American family need a dietitian appointed by the government to tell them that this food is going to make you fat and this food is not?” Yesterday, Glenn Beck joined the act, criticizing Michelle Obama for encouraging restaurants to “offer healthier versions of the foods that we all love.” He also joked that fat people should die:

BECK: When I heard this I thought, get your damn hands off my fries, lady. If I want to be a fat fat fatty and shovel French Fries all day long, that is my choice. But oh oh, not so fast anymore. Because now we have the new fact, whether you like it or not, we have government health care now. … You know those fat people sitting on their couches? And I mean really fat. I don’t mean not like me. I mean the people who’s skin grows into the couch. … I say let them die. I say punish the person who’s been bringing them the milk shakes that allowed them to eat and not get up off the couch. Am I too harsh?
