    Happy Sunday to all.

This IS a day that the Lord hath made, we will rejoice. Sadly my heart aches for the path set forth for the congregants at the New Birth Baptist Church outside of Atlanta Georgia. Its gotta be tough facing such and uncertain futures with many doubts and questions regarding their embattled leader, four young vulnerable men, a test of their faith and the many challenging legal battles ahead of them.

On today, we dare not judge and be not judged. I remain prayerful for Bishop Long and for the young men involved in such a sallacious scandal.

However, if the charges are true, Long launched a grand, malicious scheme to take advantage of the most vulnerable among us. African American boys without fathers. He stole our trust and for some, he has taken away their faith. He did so using the massive wealth and power New Birth bestowed upon him and that makes him a liar of epic proportions and no better than a common thief. Jim Baker, Jimmy Swaggart, Ted Haggard and now do we bestow the title on the first AA megachurch leader? We fall down, we do get back up again.

I pray that the Lord is with each of them and that truth crushed to the ground WILL rise again.

Community gives Heidy Baker’s home a makeover
    Tania Dall | KXLY4 Reporter
    September 22, 2010

ST. MARIES, IDAHO — While Heidy Baker, widow of Medal of Honor recipient Vernon Baker, is at Arlington National Cemetery where her husband is being laid to rest this week, the St. Maries community has rallied to help fix up her family’s home.

WWII veteran Vernon Baker died earlier this summer , one of the first African Americans to receive the Medal of Honor for his wartime service. His wife, daughter and grandson will be at Arlington Friday to say goodbye to him, flown to Washington, DC thanks to community support.

This week, while the family’s away the Baker home looks like a construction zone with donated building materials piled up and crews hard at work on the home.

Evidence of Obama’s hate towards gays

    Lifted the HIV travel ban

Allowed partners of federal employees to get some benefits

Appointed 100 GLBT persons in less than 1 year. For some perspective: Bill Clinton appointed 140 over 8 years.

appointed more openly gay people to his administration than the last two combined, including the first ever transgender appointees …

awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Harvey Milk and Billie Jean King …

signed the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act …

successfully fought for UN accreditation of IGLHRC (the International Gay & Lesbian Human Rights Commission, against Republican attempts to block it

banned job discrimination based on gender identity throughout the Federal government (the nation’s largest employer)

instructed HHS to require any hospital receiving Medicare or Medicaid funds (virtually all hospitals) to allow LGBT visitation rights

extended the Ryan White HIV/AIDS program

issued a National HIV/AIDS Strategy praised as “long-overdue” by the Task Force, Lambda and others

eliminated the discriminatory Census Bureau policy that kept gay relationships from being counted, encouraging couples who consider themselves married to file that way, even if their state of residence does not yet permit legal marriage

produced U.S. Census Bureau PSAs featuring gay, lesbian, and transgender spokespersons

extended domestic violence protections to LGBT victims

extended the Family and Medical Leave Act to cover employees taking unpaid leave to care for the children of same-sex partners

AP Poll: Repeal? Many wish health law went further

President Barack Obama’s health care overhaul has divided the nation, and Republicans believe their call for repeal will help them win elections in November. But the picture’s not that clear cut.

    WASHINGTON —
President Barack Obama’s health care overhaul has divided the nation, and Republicans believe their call for repeal will help them win elections in November. But the picture’s not that clear cut.
A new AP poll finds that Americans who think the law should have done more outnumber those who think the government should stay out of health care by 2-to-1.

Texas Board Of Education Approves Resolution To Limit Islam References

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/09/24/texas-board-of-education-islam-references_n_738930.html#comments

AUSTIN, Texas — The Texas State Board of Education adopted a resolution Friday that seeks to curtail references to Islam in Texas textbooks, as social conservative board members warned of what they describe as a creeping Middle Eastern influence in the nation’s publishing industry.

The board approved the one-page nonbinding resolution, which urges textbook publishers to limit what they print about Islam in world history books, by a 7-5 vote.

Critics say it’s another example of the ideological board trying to politicize public education in the Lone Star State. Kathy Miller, president of the Texas Freedom Network, which advocates for religious freedom, questioned why the resolution came at a time when “anti-Muslim rhetoric in this country has reached fever pitch.”

“It’s hard not to conclude that the misleading claims in this resolution are either based on ignorance of what’s in the textbooks or, on the other hand, are an example of fear-mongering and playing politics,” Miller said.
