Just saw this. Robert Reich posted this comment on Facebook a couple of days ago on March 15. Looks like the NYT has made a systematic effort to smear Bernie. They must think they hit pay dirt with that phony “Obama is ready to endorse Hillary” nonsense.
“The New York Times no longer reports all the news that’s fit to print but only the news fit for Hillary Clinton.
Appearing in yesterday’s morning edition of the New York Times was an article entitled “Bernie Sanders Scored Victories for Years Via Legislative Side Doors.” It was the first article I’ve read in the Times that praised Bernie. This one focused on legislative victories he’s achieved for working people and the poor by quietly and persistently amending and changing bills.
I was going to share the article with you, but by yesterday afternoon it had been significantly and mysteriously altered to become less praiseworthy and more snide. The headline was changed to: “Via Legislative Side Doors, Bernie Sanders Won Modest Victories.” Several complimentary quotes that had appeared in the morning edition were deleted (such as one from Senator John McCain, and another from Warren Gunnels, Bernie’s long-time policy adviser, calling his strategy “very successful.”) New paragraphs were added that criticized Bernie. (For example: “But in his presidential campaign Mr. Sanders is trying to scale up those kinds of proposals as a national agenda, and there is little to draw from his small-ball legislative approach to suggest he could succeed. Mr. Sanders is suddenly promising not just a few stars here and there, but the moon and a good part of the sun, from free college tuition paid for with giant tax hikes and a huge increase in government health care, which has made even liberal Democrats skeptical.”)
The original article had called Bernie an “effective, albeit modest, legislator.” In the altered version, an additional clause was added: “ — enacting his agenda piece by piece, in politically digestible chunks with few sweeping legislative achievements in a quarter-century in Congress.”
Many of us have long suspected the Times of anti-Bernie partisanship. This particular instance proves the point. I publicly call on the Times’s Public Editor, Margaret Sullivan, to explain how an article praising Bernie Sanders the morning before several critical primaries could, just hours later, turn into an article criticizing him. Ms. Sullivan: Who at the Times made these changes, and why?”

No surprise here SG…
I told you Joy Ann who was booted of her own show, was auditioning for Melissa’s spot and was positively gleeful – and had no problem being used as token blackface stand-in to try to taunt Melissa and contradict her accusations and assertions about MSNBC’s horrid record on race –
So much for all that talk of black solidarity eh..? More and ever more, the realization is starting to set in sadly, that some of our folk really, truly ain’t sh*t…And the white folks who dangle the carrots know exactly how little they have to do to get black folks to bite and coon…just ask Hillary Clinton…she’s one of the biggest beneficiaries of this disease that afflicts our people…
Once Melissa put that stuff out, MSNBC not only had Joy Ann who had previously been put out to remote pasture, back on t.v almost every hour, but she was back hosting every weekend in Melissa’s spot, often followed by Tamron Hall…and of course, Jose Diaz-Balart who’d been missing from the line-up and was rumored to be on the chopping block, was suddenly back in his time slot…
And who can forget Rachel Maddow – Melissa’s ‘good’ friend of yore, suddenly having a gleeful Joy Ann on her show and patting silly Joy on the head…Rachel Maddow by the way is very good at stabbing her ‘friends’ in the back…ask Keith Olbermann..
So thanks to Melissa, the rest of the tokens have a bit of job security…but only for a little while…when all this blows over, Joy Ann can expect to be put back out to remote pasture filing occasional (yawn!) reports about ‘the blacks’ from some urban enclave or another…while the host on the show humors her..
Joy, bucked & shucked, for MASSA MSNBC. And I’m sure the negotiating will include a clause that states:
MUST BUCK DANCE & COON FOR YOUR PAY CHECK $$$$$
They don’t even have to pay her extra for that…she’ll throw that in for free…
Not unlike many black folk who quickly fell back in line before the Clinton even opened their mouth or had a chance to pay them lip service – or make any empty promises or meaningless apologies…
My people, my people…
Stevie Wonder saw this coming!
I don’t like it at all. It’s stabbing Melissa in the back. I would have turned it down.
You’d have turned it down SG, because you have integrity, character and class…which Joy Ann lacks…
Joy Ann Reid is a disgrace…but desperate opportunists like her always still lose in the end..
She’s not advancing anywhere fast…they rejected her before, and they’ll reject her once again soon enough…
so true. They know she IS WEAK, Can be MANIPULATED, FOR 3 PIECE & A BISCUIT
I missed this video of Hillary barking.

A crumbling, dangerous South Side creates exodus of black Chicagoans
By William Lee
Chicago Tribune
In my mind’s eye, the South Shore of my youth was pristine.
With its big old homes and apartments, four grocery stores and doctors’ offices, South Shore had all kinds of residents — laborers, city workers, artists, businessmen and executives — raising their families side by side. A black child in the ’80s could feel insulated from the trappings of urban life. It’s where first lady Michelle Obama called home.
Auburn-Gresham, the Southwest Side neighborhood where I would later attend and graduate from grade school, was no different. My block on South Aberdeen Street felt downright suburban, with boys my age more concerned with riding bikes, watching cable TV and playing video games than engaging in gang conflict.
We never encountered anything like a little girl shot dead while jumping double Dutch, or grandmothers wounded by stray gunfire inside their homes, or young men so hardened by street life that they targeted the children of gang rivals as well as the rivals themselves
Now a multitude of black residents have called it quits with their hometown, searching for safety and prosperity beyond the city limits — my own friends and family among them.
It’s been a humbling experience watching as those worlds, those communities filled with stable families and businesses, crumble into the dust.
Outsiders and former residents read headlines describing violence on the South Side and wonder what has gone wrong in the largely black neighborhoods. But few discuss the toll that black flight is having on Chicago, long a beacon for progress and employment for African-Americans stretching back to the days of slaughterhouses, steel mills and Pullman porters.
Daredevil Season 2 is out?
YES!!!
‘The South Side’ tackles Chicago segregation, highlights black neighborhoods
By Jeremy Mikula
Chicago has a segregation problem. That isn’t exactly news to anyone who’s set foot in the city, but ask journalist and author Natalie Moore, and she’ll tell you segregation is a fact of life for Chicagoans, particularly South Siders.
“People know that segregation exists, but they don’t always think about it,” said Moore, WBEZ’s South Side Bureau reporter and the author of “The South Side: A Portrait of Chicago and American Segregation.” “It’s like air and water: You just kind of live it, but you don’t think about it.”
In “The South Side,” which will be published by St. Martin’s Press March 22, Moore investigates how segregation informs South Side living, exploring the structural impact it has on schooling, housing, food access, politics and violence. Moore interweaves touches of family history and her experiences growing up in Chatham, her parents’ move to Beverly, and living in Bronzeville and Hyde Park, where she currently resides.

Good Lord, even Amy Goodman is reporting this. PBO needs to step up for some CLARIFICATION. PBO of all people cannot allow the media to be telling the western states IN HIS NAME that our votes are useless at this point. Basically, we should just stay home and not vote and give it to the Queen of the Democrats. I’ve seen this story all over the place this AM and the original NYT article was a badly written piece of propagandized sh!t. Apparently, there is no reason to even have a convention anymore except for the speeches. PLEASE, PRESIDENT OBAMA, PLEASE FIX THIS.
Voting for Bernie Sanders in the Arizona primary is the last chance I will have for a very long time to vote for a candidate that I actually care about. Don’t let the media tell me my vote is a waste of time.
Obama Tells Donors to Throw Weight Behind Clinton
MARCH 18, 2016HEADLINES
Meanwhile, on the Democrat side, President Obama reportedly threw his weight behind former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton by telling a group of Democratic donors to unite behind her. The New York Times reports Obama made the comments during a private meeting with donors after a fundraising event last Friday in Austin, Texas, for the Democratic National Committee. This comes as Sanders is favored to win a string of upcoming caucuses in Idaho, Alaska, Hawaii, Washington and Wyoming. Clinton currently leads Sanders in the delegate count: 1,139 to 825.
http://www.democracynow.org/2016/3/18/headlines/obama_tells_donors_to_throw_weight_behind_clinton
Media is spinning this as an endorsement of Hillary by President Obama prior to the western states voting because Bernie was expected to do well in the west, not necessarily Arizona. He probably would have won Nevada were it not for Harry Reid interfering with democracy.
An endorsement from a sitting president is unethical at best. PBO needs to set the media straight, pronto. He must not allow himself to get dragged into this media pressure for Bernie to give it up.
Yep! Mother Jones too. It’s all CLICK BAIT, at this stage now, Liza.
Obama Is Privately Telling Democratic Donors Time Is Running Out for Sanders
http://www.motherjones.com/mojo/2016/03/obama-bernie-sanders-clinton-private-donors
So DISGUSTING & DEGRADING. DOWNRIGHT INSULTING, REALLY.
Yeah, it’s all over the place. A lot of folks never read past headlines, so this is really bad. PBO should be angry, unless he wanted this and I have a difficult time believing that.
It’s getting worse. Fox News headline:
Sanders fights for life as Clinton wins another state, Obama turns screws
Fox News – 2 hours ago
PBO needs to get a statement out there soon.
No proof he said anything in private!
PBO needs to get a statement out there. The western United States is a mighty big place. California has over 10 percent of the nation’s population.
The NYT has dragged PBO into Hillary’s propaganda and he needs to clarify this, unfortunately.
It is not fair to Bernie Sanders. There are good reasons for Bernie to be in this race.
We need a little more. No one wants to report this:
White House rejects reports of a Clinton endorsement
By NICOLE DURAN (@DURANNI1) • 3/17/16 5:30 PM
The White House denied reports Thursday that President Obama told a group of party faithful in Texas over the weekend that he soon will endorse Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton.
“No, it is not what he in fact said,” White House spokesman Josh Earnest responded about whether the report was accurate.
“I was there for the part where this conversation occurred,” Earnest said. “What I’ll just say in general is that President Obama made a case that would be familiar to all of you, which is that as Democrats move through this competitive primary process, we need to be mindful of the fact that our success in November, in electing a Democratic president, will depend on the commitment and ability of the Democratic Party to come together behind our nominee,” Earnest explained.
http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/white-house-rejects-reports-of-a-clinton-endorsement/article/2586147
Liza, if you recall in 2012 when PBO was out on the campaign trail, for re-election, he’d have thousands, if not tens of thousands of supporters packing auditoriums, and the media all but ‘BLACKED’ him out. PUN INTENDED.
Yeah, they’ve done the same thing to Bernie Sanders, trying to create the perception that he is a marginal candidate which he isn’t. The NYT thought this was useful to Hillary, to make a story out of a non-story and not report the WH response. They want to squash Bernie like a bug on Hillary’s behalf because she’s their pick.
Does anyone really think that a Hillary Administration will be about fairness and inclusion and justice? She and her camp can’t even run a fair campaign.
The unforgettable 2008 Hillary…
This clip right HERE… STRAW… CAMEL…
BACK!
NEVER, EVER, GOING TO VOTE FOR THIS WOMAN.
There’s a bad moon on the rise, a bad moon.
YES!
Disgusting and unfeeling!
The Hillbots thought they would be rid of Bernie by now. They want him dead in the water before the west coast votes. They want low turnout in those states to benefit Hillary. Be careful what you wish for, interfering with a democratic process as in telling the whole west coast their votes mean nothing because Hillary is already the winner, may result in a very disengaged electorate in November.
The Hillary Democrats seem to think there will be a tsunami of voters for her in November no matter what because the GOP is so scary. I think they might be surprised.
And those superdelegates have got to go, that whole concept must be abolished.

As Hillary Clinton Sweeps States, One Group Resists: White Men
MARCH 17, 2016
excerpt:
“She’s talking to minorities now, not really to white people, and that’s a mistake,” said Dennis Bertko, 66, a construction project manager in Youngstown, Ohio, as he sipped a draft beer at the Golden Dawn Restaurant in a downtrodden part of town. “She could have a broader message. We would have listened.”
“Instead, she’s talking a lot about continuing Obama’s policies,” he said. “I just don’t necessarily agree with all of the liberal ideas of Obama.”
Mr. Bertko said that he rarely crossed party lines but that he voted for Donald J. Trump, who is making a strong pitch to disaffected white men by assailing free-trade agreements that Mrs. Clinton once supported. “I know a lot of guys who are open to Trump,” he said.
The fading of white men as a Democratic bloc is hardly new: The last nominee to carry them was Lyndon Johnson in 1964, and many blue-collar “Reagan Democrats” now steadily vote Republican. But Democrats have won about 35 to 40 percent of white men in nearly every presidential election since 1988. And some Democratic leaders say the party needs white male voters to win the presidency, raise large sums of money and, like it or not, maintain credibility as a broad-based national coalition.
To win a general election, Mrs. Clinton would rely most heavily on strong turnout from blacks, Hispanics, women and older voters. Though she won among white men in Arkansas, Alabama and Tennessee, and tied in Texas, some Democratic officials and pollsters say they fear that without a stronger strategy, Mrs. Clinton could perform as poorly among white men as Walter Mondale, who drew just 32 percent in 1984, or even George McGovern, who took 31 percent in 1972.
“Her most serious relationship problem is with white men, on a policy issue front but also stylistically, and she is at real risk for running worse than the average Democrat with white males,” said Peter Hart, a veteran Democratic pollster.
Hillary has trouble with more than just white men.
The Democratic voter turnout in the Ohio primary was down around 50 percent from 2008. This is not good for the Democrats.
If Hillary wins the nomination, or should I say, when the Democratic party is finished ramming her down our throats, the electorate will then have an opportunity to choose the lesser of two evils in the general election. But this election is shaping up to be red state vs blue state with the final result being determined in one or two maybe three swing states.
If Trump and Hillary are the nominees, I think that Hillary has a better chance in the swing states assuming high voter turnout which can only be generated by a terrible fear of Trump.
But if the GOP somehow manages to make Kasich their nominee, I would say that the Democrats have a real problem and they could end up paying a very heavy price for what they have done. Actually, we’ll be the ones to pay the heavy price. Ohio will go to Kasich, for sure. Florida looks solid red right now. A very grim picture could be coming into focus.

THE RACHEL MADDOW SHOW 3/17/16
Snyder called out in Congressional hearing despite GOP cover
Rachel Maddow reports on Michigan Governor Rick Snyder’s testimony before the U.S. House Oversight Committee on his role in the mass lead poisoning in the city of Flint.
Like I said….they don’t disagree with what Trump says…they disagree with how he says it. Maybe if Trump had spoken in Frank Luntz-approved dogwhistles, they might have gone over the this guy’s head, and he’d be a Republican.
The great unsettling
…………………….
At midday on the eve of the [Iowa] caucuses, into the Hockenberry house walked two men who had driven to Dubuque from Milwaukee in a white Mercedes SUV. One of them was Ismail Fersat, who was from Turkey, and Muslim, and a successful entrepreneur who ran his own granite-countertop business. Once, back in Turkey, he was the national boxing champ. He came to America from Istanbul 16 years ago in hopes of becoming a professional boxer.
What did America mean to him? “For me, the key is democracy,” said Fersat, still two years away from citizenship. “I feel that if the people can tell honestly and confidently what they think without any fear, no matter what religion they belong to, what culture they belong to — that, to me, is democracy.” He had more than anything admired this about America — until he started to worry about it during this campaign.
For years in Wisconsin, he had thought that he should support the Republicans, because they would be best for business. Then along came Trump. “When Trump came out, I felt offended by the comment he made. The Muslim is blah, blah. That hurt me in a big way. I see democracy as something else. When Trump came out, boom, no more. I’m done with the Republicans. I said, ‘I’m on the wrong side!’”

Meet Ted Cruz’s foreign-policy team
By Steve Benen
Most voters probably don’t pay attention to the presidential race at a granular level, but it’s worth keeping an eye on the kind of advisers a candidate surrounds himself or herself with. As we recently discussed, who a presidential hopeful turns to for guidance, especially on matters of foreign policy and national security, tells voters something important about the kind of presidency the public can expect.
It mattered, for example, that Jeb Bush surrounded himself with members of his brother’s team, just as it mattered that Marco Rubio put together a “dream team” of prominent neoconservatives. (Asked yesterday who he’s speaking with for guidance on foreign policy, Donald Trump said, “I’m speaking with myself. I have a very good brain.”)
As for Ted Cruz, Eli Lake reports today for Bloomberg View that the Texas senator is unveiling his own national security advisory team, which includes names like Elliott Abrams – who lied to Congress about the Iran-Contra scandal, and who was also on Rubio’s advisory team – and former assistant U.S. attorney Andrew McCarthy, known for his far-right contributions to National Review.
But the name that stood most was Frank Gaffney, one of the nation’s most notorious anti-Muslim activists.

Luvvie has thoughts:
Dear Joel Osteen, Is Being a Sellout Shepherd Your Ministry?
Awesomely Luvvie — March 14, 2016
It’s been a long while since I’ve written a sternly-worded letter. Clearly, I am overdue.
I have been spurred to write one because of an interview that popular pastor, Joel Osteen, gave on the radio in October 2015 (5 months ago), where he basically placed a stamp of approval on Donald Trump, satan’s mentee. Fast forward to 3:50 mark, where it begins.
DAFUQ??
Dear Joel Osteen,
How big was it, Joel? How big was the check that Donald Trump wrote you? Or should I ask how many checks with many zeros has he written you over the years? More importantly, “What profits a man who gains the world and loses his soul?” What’s the price tag for your soul’s wholeness? How many commas?
You got on the radio to promote your book, and the interviewer asked you what you think about Donald Trump. You said:
“Mr. Trump is an incredible communicator and brander. He’s been a friend of our ministry. He’s a good man.”
