After an earthquake of 9.3 (the third largest ever recorded) occurred in the Indian Ocean, deadly tsunamis hit the coasts of Indonesia, India, Sri Lanka, and Thailand. It’s estimated that 280,000 people lost their lives — the deadliest in modern history.
