Feliz Navidad” is a Christmas song written in 1970 by the Puerto Rican singer-songwriter José Feliciano. With its simple Spanish chorus (the traditional Christmas/New Year greeting, “Feliz Navidad, próspero año y felicidad” or “Merry Christmas, and a happy New Year”) and equally simple English verse (“I wanna wish you a Merry Christmas from the bottom of my heart”), it has become a classic Christmas pop song in the United States, Canada and throughout the Spanish-speaking world.

The Senate has passed a major procedural vote on the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, making it extremely likely that the military’s controversial ban on openly gay service-members will end soon.

63 Senators voted to end debate on the bill, while 33 Senators voted against the measure.

Florida School Board Shooting: Ginger Littleton’s Purse Up For Auction

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/12/17/school-board-shooting-purse-auction_n_798510.html#comments

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. — Bidding on a purse a woman used to try to disarm the gunman at a Florida Panhandle school board meeting had reached more than $1,000 before eBay removed the listing.

Ginger Littleton sneaked up behind the gunman and used her brown faux crocodile handbag to whack his arm. Though she wasn’t able to disarm the gunman, the purse became a hit, and it was briefly up for auction on eBay.

The proceeds were set to go to a charity run by Mike Jones, the district security chief who wounded the gunman before he killed himself. But eBay removed the listing Friday night because it did meet all the legal requirements for a charitable listing.

WJHG-TV anchor Joe Moore, who was running the auction for Littleton, says he’s confident they’ll be able to meet eBay’s guidelines and get the auction back up.
