“Being president doesn’t change who you are. It reveals who you are.”

“It isn’t about how much money you make, it’s about the difference you make in people’s lives.”

“He turned down high-paying jobs … success is not about how much money you make. It’s about the difference you make in people’s lives.”

“And he believes that when you walk through the door of opportunity, you don’t slam it shut behind you—you reach back.”

“Doing the impossible is the history of this nation…it is how this country was built.”

TELL IT, FLOTUS!!

FLOTUS was absolutely on fire; and folks in the arena around me were on ull-throttle call and response during the entire speech. I’ll post pics in a few.

And despite the Repukes claiming to love “meritocracy”, every 4 years they serve up another scion of life-long privilege.

Meanwhile, their hatred burns like a thousand suns for real time examples of American meritocracy, like Bill Clinton and Barack Obama.

    So amazing. Sublime.

I just can’t imagine anyone ever delivering a speech that well. Reagan, for example, always seemed somewhat phony, even in his ‘greatest’ moments. He was practiced, but hollow. Michelle was poised, but warmly emotional. It probably helps that she wrote it. The more I think about it, the more brilliant it seems.

Was watching PBS, I was glad that I got to hear Mark Shields make the correct observation that MO took apart Romney’s and GOP’s whole Obama-Not-An-American theme without even mentioning them. That’s how great the speech was, it got me to semi-respect a member of our horrible media.

she is absolutely terrific. Never have I been more proud to have someone representing my country the way I love Michelle Obama.
