The McCoys were a rock group that started in Union City, Indiana, in 1962. There are best known for their hit “Hang on Sloopy“.
The original members, all from Union City, were guitarist Richard Zehringer (later known as Rick Derringer), his brother Randy on drums, and bassist Dennis Kelly. This first line-up was known as “The Rick Z Combo”, and later known as “Rick and the Raiders”. When Kelly left for college, the Zehringers were joined by bassist Randy Jo Hobbs, saxophonist Sean Michaels, and keyboardist Ronnie Brandon.[1] This was the line-up that took the name of “The McCoys”. Brandon left the group in 1965 and was replaced by Bobby Peterson on keyboards.
One of their best-known songs is “Hang On Sloopy“, which was #1 in the United States in the Billboard Hot 100 chart in October 1965 and is the official rock song of the state of Ohio. It also is the unofficial fight song of The Ohio State University Buckeyes and can heard being played at many Ohio State athletic events by the OSU bands.

Chuck Schumer Is Trash Talking Obamacare Again—And He’s Still Not Making Any Sense

Senator Chuck Schumer copped to something Tuesday morning a lot of frustrated Democrats privately believe.
“Democrats blew the opportunity the American people gave them,” Schumer told reporters at a press event in Washington. “We took their mandate and put all our focus on the wrong problem—health care reform.”
Given the immediate context—a big GOP midterm win, the twilight of Barack Obama’s presidency, the wind up to 2016—people will understandably interpret Schumer’s comments as an attempt to turn the page—to give Hillary Clinton space to run on the promise that she’ll finally get things right, and to implore the liberal intelligentsia to get cracking on a fresh agenda. There is truth to all of that, and it’s reflected in the unequivocal nature of Schumer’s mea culpa.
But there are two important caveats to this story, both of which take a lot of punch out of his words. First, his views in this case aren’t new; and second, they are wrong—both politically and substantively.
It’s forgotten now, but Schumer was always skeptical of the idea that Democrats should cash in all their post-Bush Administration capital on the project of universal health care. He’s made it known at various intervals. In 2010, Schumer told the New Yorker’s Jeffrey Toobin, “if I were President I might not have [pursued health care reform].” Most Americans had health care and were satisfied with it, he observed, and most of those who didn’t weren’t dependable voters.

Jeremy Peters writes in the New York Times today that the tea party has morphed from an enraged bunch of economic populists to an enraged bunch of anti-immigration zealots. And by cracky, they want Republicans to crush the tyrant Obama for his immigration insolence and they want them to do it now:
Satisfying the conservative base will be difficult. Tea Party activists are not likely to sit patiently while a lawsuit works its way through the courts. And many have already expressed skepticism about the Republican leadership’s willingness to see through a fight over appropriations.
….“Yes, there’s a risk to overreacting, but there’s a risk to underreacting as well,” said Rich Lowry, the editor of National Review. “And I fear that’s the way the congressional leadership is leaning.” Mr. Lowry suggested one way Congress could react. “If I were John Boehner,” he said, referring to the House speaker, “I’d say to the president: ‘Send us your State of the Union in writing. You’re not welcome in our chamber.’ ”

Nancy Pelosi gives 14 million reasons why Chuck Schumer is wrong

Washington (CNN) — Nancy Pelosi says there are 14 million reasons why Chuck Schumer is wrong.
In an intraparty feud about political strategy, the House minority leader on Tuesday called out the No. 3 Senate Democratic leader for saying that it was a mistake for Democrats to focus on passing health care reform in 2010.
“After passing the stimulus, Democrats should have continued to propose middle class-oriented programs and built on the partial success of the stimulus, but unfortunately Democrats blew the opportunity the American people gave them,” Schumer said in a remarks focused on political messaging heading into 2016 at the National Press Club.
New York’s Schumer added, “We took their mandate and put all our focus on the wrong problem — health care reform.”
When asked whether she agreed with Schumer’s assessment, California’s Pelosi didn’t mince words in a written statement provided to CNN.
“We come here to do a job, not keep a job. There are more than 14 million reasons why that’s wrong,” Pelosi said.
The 14 million figure Pelosi cites references those Americans who now have health care coverage since the law was enacted.
It adds together those who have signed up through health care exchanges, those allowed to say on their parent’s health care plans through age 26 and those getting coverage through the expansion of the Medicaid program.
Pelosi’s office also maintained that the Affordable Care Act has had a positive economic effect in terms of bending the cost curve over the long term.
