How do I get the feeling that some people won’t think this is good news?

    Just the cynic in me.

As a natural wearing woman, I want to thank all the Black women on youtube, who do the research and spread the education about our hair. Their videos are such a comfort for folks like me, who aren’t licensed cosmetologists, but just want healthy, natural hair. Them trying the products, and telling us what works and what doesn’t, is such a help. Nothing like spending $50 for a line of products that don’t work on your hair.

The videos that I’ve been loving lately, are watching those with the kids. Watching these young kids being taught to love their natural hair. And, take care of their natural hair. Having them involved with the process, bit by bit, so that they come to appreciate their natural hair as beautiful and wonderful and manageable…I love it. These children are 10 steps ahead of how I was raised. Mama didn’t know how to take care of my natural hair because nobody had taught her to take care of HER natural hair.

As a thin, fine, low porosity natural hair wearer, without Youtube, I really would have been lost.

It’s been 8 years since I lost my mother.

Last October, I lost my last Aunt on either side.

So, this was the first Mother’s Day where I didn’t buy a card for an Elder.

That sorta hit me harder than I thought.

Thinking of the years with my mother, her sisters, and my father’s sisters.

Rikyah, my deepest condolences. It’s difficult being without all those strong, wise women around to share their love, strength, and courage.

You have all of the gifts they left you to pass on to Peanut. She’s so blessed to have you in her life.

Donald Trump Won’t Rule Out Effort to Remove Paul Ryan as Convention Chairman
    May 8, 2016

Donald J. Trump said he would not rule out an effort to remove Representative Paul D. Ryan as chairman of the Republican National Convention if he did not endorse Mr. Trump’s candidacy.

Mr. Trump stopped short of calling for Mr. Ryan, the speaker of the House, to step down from his convention role. But in an interview that aired Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Mr. Trump said there could be consequences in the event that Mr. Ryan continued withholding his support.

“I will give you a very solid answer, if that happens, about one minute after that happens, O.K.?” Mr. Trump said. “There’s no reason to give it right now, but I’ll be very quick with the answer.”

So, my sister rolls up in my house with a family pack (6lbs) of chicken thighs.

Don’t ask….if there’s a deal to be found on meat, she’ll find it.

I’m old enough to not go ” I’m a single person, WTF am I gonna do with 6 lbs of chicken thighs?”

So, I thank her, and begin to think about possible meals.

So, I came up with homemade Chicken Lo Mein, a Chicken Pasta Salad-Italian Flavored, chicken tacos, and chicken stock for future use.

Yesterday, I was a cutting, skinning, de-boning and marinating fool. Took awhile, but I got everything finished. I have lunch and dinner for the week.

Palin: Paul Ryan’s Career is ‘Over’ for Not Supporting Trump
By ALANA ABRAMSON May 8, 2016, 11:13 AM EST

Sarah Palin will work to defeat House Speaker Paul Ryan in his primary reelection challenge, she said Sunday.

“I think Paul Ryan is soon to be ‘cantored,’ as in Eric Cantor,” the former Alaska Governor and 2008 vice presidential candidate said on CNN’s State of the Union. Cantor, the former House Majority Leader and Virginia congressman, was unexpectedly defeated in June 2014 by Tea Party conservative David Brat.

Ryan is being challenged in an August primary by Wisconsin businessman Paul Nehlen, who has pledged support for Trump as the presumptive presidential nominee, “because it will have been the will of the voters that got him there,” he said in a statement.

Palin further slammed Ryan for not extending the same support for Trump.

“His political career is over, but for a miracle, “Palin added, “because he has so disrespected the will of the people and yeah, as the leader of the GOP, the convention certainly, he is to remain neutral, and for him to already come out and say who he will not support, was not a wise decision of his.”

Who is that stupid Palin to say anything? She cannot even handle her own family life and has such ridiculously poor judgement in everything that she says or does. Stupid attracts stupid.

Hey ladies…:happy Mother’s Day to all of you.
On that note I have something I’d like to get off my chest about moms and Mother’s Day. No doubt most women who are great mothers have learned some of their skills from an amazing, nurturing, mother. But there are some, like myself who learned to do the opposite of the example. Had I followed my mothers lead my children wouldn’t be my priority, only the man in my bed. Their health wouldn’t be my priority because I let that be someone else’s problem. When they were hurt I wouldn’t be there for them. I would constantly choose other things and other people over them. Maybe I would even attempt to have another family as a do over because the children I first had I neglected and no longer want to call me mother. I had substitutes growing up, but they were never her. Seeing everyone cherish their amazing mothers is a beautiful thing. Sometimes I am jealous and wish I had those beaming pictures with my mom. I wish I had that beautiful example. Since I am her child I never gave up on the thought that one day she would put my heart or feelings above her own, but to this day that will always be a little hope that never gets fulfilled. I’m amazed somehow that I raised three children who love, honor, and respect me without having been exposed to an example. Since praising my mom wasn’t something that happened often I never put a big emphasis on the celebration of Mother’s Day. Because of that I rarely get a card or a gift. I guess I just write this to say that not everyone has an amazing mother to celebrate on Mother’s Day and every time I think I’m over our lack of relationship every Mother’s Day I wish I had someone to celebrate with. I learned how to be a mother by avoiding what I saw growing up and never making my children feel the way she made me feel. I hope I am the example to my children that she never was to me and I hope that her new family reaps the benefits of her learning something from how she treated her two first children. Happy Mother’s Day to me and to all the broken ones still waiting for their Mom.

      Profound.

Thanks for balancing Mother’s Day with your comment, Sunshine. I think that in writing your message with your experience you have lent much caring support to those who might be experiencing mixed feelings today or longing for what never was.

You have also reminded those like me of how so fortunate we are to have beautiful, warm memories of our moms.

*Hugs* and Happy Mother’s day to you, Sunshine. You are a great mom!

      Blessings to you, Sunshine.

Thank you for sharing this amazing gift of love.

It seems to me your mother gave the most amazing gift to you and your children; the gift to make different life choices.

And by doing so, you grew in amazing strength, character, and love for you and your children.

      This takes tremendous courage.

HAPPIEST of MOTHERS DAY , SUNSHINE!

      Loving Regards,
      Ameita

    • Sunshine, you’re a great Mom. We can see and feel it in your writings the way you talk about your son and how the system treats young black boys. You are an amazing mother. You made a different choice and your children are blessed because of it. Thank God for his amazing love and grace.

      Happy Mother’s Day!

Sunshine, that was deep. You are right you could have gone down the same unhappy path but you broke the curse. Now things will spiral up for you and your precious family. I am sorry that you didn’t get the benefits of a mother’s love, however, knowing that you are loved by your children is a blessing. As a fellow mother I would like to extend an extra special Happy Mother’s Day to you and send you extra love .(smile)

Happy Mother’s Day, Sunshine. It is sad, to be sure, for those of us who grew up with mothers who were not there for us because of something lacking within themselves. But those who overcome this, those who dive in and start new families and manage to be everything to their children that they wanted for themselves deserve our deepest admiration and respect. That takes immense courage and determination.
