Sunday Open Thread | Prayers For #StandingRockSioux

Prayers for the First Nations People.

Please pray for #StandingRockSioux. Authorities sent attack dogs in on unarmed protesters fighting to protect their water. When you allow vicious dogs to attack innocent unarmed people and terrorize little children, you are EVIL! It’s so disturbing.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A protest of a four-state, $3.8 billion oil pipeline turned violent Saturday after tribal officials say construction crews destroyed American Indian burial and cultural sites on private land in southern North Dakota.

If you’d like to donate to help StandingRockSioux, here’s how you can help.

      Yvw, SG2.

I have been so concerned for what those at Standing Rock are going through and have been praying for them.

Thanks to both of you, SG2 and Yahtzee, for reporting this story that, as far as I am aware, is still blacked out in msm. I am seeing more posts in social media since those attack dogs were brought in to bite the protesters. The photo of that horrible woman in the khaki pants supposedly handling the out-of-control German Shepherd is getting a lot of attention today.

This entire debacle is just making me physically sick. And I get so angry when I see dogs used in this manner. What kind of person becomes this kind of dog handler? This is pure evil, pure, unadulterated evil.

I hope that the security company with the dogs gets sued up, down, sideways, and front to back. Those handlers look totally incompetent which makes them very dangerous to those folks out there. We’ve already seen photos of a bitten baby and pregnant woman. The dogs might turn on their handlers, we can hope.

Welcome to the 1960s y’all. Bull Connor would be so proud.

Why are there always people willing to step up for the oppressor and do their bidding?

Where is that image of those gun-toting heatherns with guns aiming at federal agents?

This is a good video by Democracy Now. Well, Amy Goodman is all over this and that will certainly help in getting more attention paid to what is going on.

The private security guards hired by DAPL must have a collective IQ no greater than that of an imbecile. I cannot believe what they were doing. They had little to no control over their attack dogs, all of whom appeared to be dangerous. They sprayed the people with mace and/or pepper spray, they tried to attack at least one protester in this video, and most astonishing, they actually turn some of the dogs loose. I saw one dog attacking a horse. Overall, a very dangerous situation and totally unjustified.

I hope that DAPL gets sued along with the private security company.

Pipeline oil spills on mainlands happen across the world.
“4 May 2011 (Edmonton) — Little Buffalo community members, including school children, continue to experience nausea, burning eyes and headaches after one of the largest pipeline spills in Alberta history last Friday.”!/httpImage/image.jpg_gen/derivatives/16x9_620/li-russia-oil-spill-0179930.jpg
“This Sept. 10, 2011 photo shows the aftermath of an oil spill near the town of Usinsk, in Komi Republic. Komi is one of Russia’s largest and oldest oil provinces but ruptures in aging pipelines and leaks from decommissioned oil wells make oil spills in the region routine. Environmentalists estimate at least 1 percent of Russia’s annual oil production, or 5 million tons is spilled every year.”(Dmitry Lovetsky/Associated Press)
