National security adviser Michael Flynn has resigned after reports he misled Trump administration officials about his contacts with Russia’s ambassador to the U.S.
Flynn’s departure less than one month into the Trump administration marks an extraordinarily early shakeup in the president’s senior team of advisers. Flynn was a loyal Trump supporter throughout the campaign, but his ties to Russia caused concern among other senior aides.
Flynn initially told Trump advisers that he did not discuss sanctions with the Russian envoy during the transition. Vice President Mike Pence, apparently relying on information from Flynn, publicly vouched for the national security adviser.
Flynn later told White House officials that he may have discussed sanctions with the ambassador.

AUSTIN — Roy White wants to inform as many Americans as possible about the terrorists he sees in their midst.
The lean, 62-year-old Air Force veteran strode into the Texas State Capitol in late January wearing a charcoal-gray pinstripe suit and an American flag tie, with the mission of warning all 181 lawmakers about a Muslim group sponsoring a gathering of Texas Muslims at the Capitol the following day. Although the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) works to promote Muslim civil rights across America, White wanted to convince lawmakers that it is actually working to infiltrate the U.S. government and destroy American society from within.
“They’re jihadists wearing suits,” White said of CAIR and other Muslim organizations. “That’s a tough thing for us to wrap our heads around because we don’t feel threatened.”
White is the San Antonio chapter president of ACT for America, an organization that brands itself as “the nation’s largest grass-roots national security advocacy organization” and attacks what it sees as the creeping threat of sharia, or Islamic law, in the form of Muslim organizations, mosques, refugees and sympathetic politicians.
The group has found allies among a coterie of anti-Muslim organizations, speakers and Christian fundamentalists, as well as with some state lawmakers. Bill Zedler, a Texas Republican state representative, said during a recent forum supported by ACT that he fears political correctness is masking the real problem: “Regardless of whether it’s al-Qaeda, or CAIR, or the Islamic State, they just have different methodology for the destruction of Western civilization.”
ACT, which has been a vocal advocate for President Trump and his administration, says it now has “a direct line” to the president and an ability to influence the direction of the nation.
“We are on the verge of playing the most pivotal role in reversing the significant damage that has been done to our nation’s security and well-being over the past eight years,” ACT’s founder, Brigitte Gabriel, wrote in a December solicitation for donations.
Stephen K. Bannon, the former executive chairman of Breitbart who has described Muslim American groups as “cultural jihadists” bent on destroying American society, is Trump’s chief strategist. Breitbart has published several articles Gabriel has written. Trump’s CIA Director, Mike Pompeo, has spoken at ACT’s conferences and sponsored an ACT meeting at the Capitol last year.
Retired Lt. Gen. Michael T. Flynn, who sits on ACT’s board of advisers, served as the president’s national security adviser before stepping down after revelations that he might have violated the law in communications with a Russian diplomat.
In the first days of his presidency, Trump signed an executive order temporarily banning travelers from seven majority-Muslim countries — and all refugees — from entering the United States, an order that has been put on hold as it faces court challenges.

The Mysterious James Comey
The FBI must have known that Michael Flynn illegally discussed sanctions with the Russian ambassador.
by Mike Lofgren
February 13, 2017
On February 10, the Washington Post ran an above-the-fold story stating that — according to multiple government sources — Michael Flynn, President Trump’s national security adviser, took a phone call from Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak and discussed U.S sanctions against that country. Since the call took place on December 29, three weeks before the inauguration, the call itself would have been irregular even if the subject matter discussed had been innocuous.
The fact that it occurred on the day the Obama administration applied additional sanctions on Russia made the call a curious coincidence. The Post cited numerous senior government officials claiming that Flynn discussed those sanctions with Russia’s ambassador, making the call highly improper at a minimum. CBS News led its story with the suggestion that Flynn may have violated the law. Increasing the appearance of wrongdoing was Flynn’s previous assertion that he had not discussed policy matters, and that he had only conveyed greetings and discussed arrangements for a post-inaugural phone call between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
It is a good bet that the media will make heavy weather of the issue of whether a person can be charged with the Logan Act, a law prohibiting unauthorized private individuals from conducting diplomacy with foreign powers — a law which has never been used to prosecute anybody. They will ask whether the national security adviser is fit to serve, given his seeming lack of truthfulness regarding the phone call, his poor policy judgment, and his chumminess with Putin. There is also the embarrassing matter of Vice President Mike Pence already having publicly asserted that Flynn did not discuss the sanctions issue.
“…That leaves us with one remaining question: whose chump is James B. Comey, Jr?..”
James Comey is all about James Comey…
But when the time is ripe, he’ll be the undoing of the pretend potus too…it’s only a matter of time now…
Dubious ‘loyalties’ like dubious alliances formed under dubious circumstances, soon unravel and implode at the slightest poke..

Flynn is Gone, But the President is Still There
by Martin Longman

If you were a fly on the wall in the White House over the weekend (or on March 22, 1973), you might have heard an exchange that went something like this.
All I’ve done here is change the names from Dean, Haldeman, and Erlichmann. A limited (modified) hangout is something the intelligence community does when things have gotten out of hand and they can no longer just deny, deny, deny.
In spy jargon, it’s a tactic used when “they can no longer rely on a phony cover story to misinform the public, they resort to admitting—sometimes even volunteering—some of the truth while still managing to withhold the key and damaging facts in the case. The public, however, is usually so intrigued by the new information that it never thinks to pursue the matter further.”
He can’t stop lying.

Following Flynn’s Resignation, Questions Remain
by Nancy LeTourneau

Just prior to Michael Flynn’s resignation last night, the Washington Post published this report.
Beyond the salacious idea that the National Security Advisor risked being blackmailed by Russia, what this tells us is that the White House has known Flynn was lying for at least 2-3 weeks. But then there is this tidbit from the report.
All of the sudden yesterday, in the swirl of this becoming public knowledge, the focus of the story became that Flynn had lied to Vice President Pence and the two connected for him to apologize. That makes no sense. If the White House has known that he lied for over 2 weeks, why did they wait until yesterday to tell Pence he’d been set up?

Putin Starting to Wonder If His Puppets Are Smart Enough to Pull This Off
MOSCOW (The Borowitz Report)—Russian President Vladimir Putin is “starting to get concerned” that the puppets he installed in the executive branch of the U.S. government “might not be up to the task at hand,” sources confirmed on Tuesday.
According to the sources, the flameout of the national-security adviser Michael Flynn was only the most recent event that has caused Putin to wonder if the figureheads he propelled into office are “just too dim-witted” to serve the goals of the Russian Federation.
“When you choose a puppet, you’re looking for a sweet spot,” one source close to Putin said. “You want to choose someone who’s dumb enough to be manipulated, but not so dumb that he can’t find the light switches.”
“Increasingly, it looks like we missed that sweet spot,” the source said.
Putin is reportedly willing to have a “wait and see” attitude with his current puppets, but, if things do not improve markedly, he will not hesitate to “make some changes,” the source said.
“President Putin knew that this bunch didn’t have a lot of experience in government and that there were bound to be some growing pains,” the source said. “But geez.”
